The thing about Geraint Thomas is that the clinic predicted he would be the next sky climber.

With wiggins and froome it was a huge surprise.

With Thomas, everyone said - hes British and rides for Sky, will he now suddenly learn how to climb.

And voila, what a coincidence, the next person who happens to be a good responder to Kerrison team sky revolutionary science, is him.
only cos he has about 3 years on peter kennaugh

Are 4-5 min max efforts highly predictive of much longer efforts and recovery over 3 weeks in any other sport, or just in cycling? :p

There are weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

Biological ones.

They will arrive in the US or UK within 45 minutes.

I single vial of anthrax could wipe out e entire world.

All true.

The things people will believe.

The thing about Geraint Thomas is that he is a top tt-er who has often concentrated more on sprints and pursuits than climbing. He showed some potential in the Tour in 2011, doing well in the break on the Tourmalet stage and finishing 25th on the Galibier stage, towing an ailing Uran to the top so he could possibly have finished higher up.

He finished 30th overall in that tour. You are claiming that for someone who finished 30th in the tour at the age of 25, finishing 18th on a mountain stage of the Dauphine 2 years later when concentrating more on road cycling and losing weight is some kind of freak achievement that can only be explained by clinic reasons? Ok, so he was doing some work on the climb so maybe he could have come 12th say but id still say the same.

Looking back further, in 2010 he finished 7th in the dauphine tt, 10th this year.

That was one of the funniest things I've seen when they rode off the front. Shame Porte couldn't really keep up so we didn't get to see the Dawg do his thing. He could've gone a minute faster I bet. Rogers not quite at last year's level.

I always had high hopes for Thomas as a one day rider. He had some promising results as a youngster. If he suddenly morphs into a GC contender I must admit I would be pretty disappointed. Not altogether surprised given how things are going but still a bit disappointed.

the comedy value is obviously very high, but I just cant see the rationale behind this. clearly froome got the get go from the horn a bit after rogers started going backwards. why would sky want to out themselves this way now?

maltiv got it in the stage thread: not even saunier duval was this ridiculous

Is it wrong if I want to see froome go all out at the tour just to see how much he can destroy everyone else?

Won't happen though, his TT is too strong for him to try THAT much in the mountains.

Skyborgs need to learn making faces like Voeckler to disguise the obvious

I agree.

Their acting is terrible.

Get Daniel Day Lewis to teach them now to look tired.

Froome going all out would be really great. Like Sestrières Stage 9 would be wonderful ..will he be able to?

In the end they didn't look that ridiculous, because while Porte has made incredible progress since he left Saxo, he just doesn't have the turbo engine that Froome has. It looked utterly ridiculous when they took off, that's probably the pace Froome would've liked to keep to the finish, but Richie could only hold that for about 20 seconds.

Like the guy in the t-shirt I'd really like to see what Froome can do without his leash.

Geraint Thomas is improving his climbing ability by about ten percent every day. He has always been one of my favourite riders but that was ridiculous from him today.

Yep, thats why Indurains 1-2-3 wins in the Tour looked 'human' numberswise.

I love Sky. They never dissappoint you. And if they do it is because the others dope, Sir Bradley told us so.

Little note, what wattage is Rogers kicking this year? Last year he could do 450, how much watts did he loose?

I love them, havent laughed so much since Seinfeld quit.

Not sure what's more "ridiculous" though, a team that's clearly better overall than the rest of the peloton, and can still "train" it.

Or a guy that is so comfortable he could solo-drop the climbs pantani or armstrong style.

At this point we're actually getting a combination of both, making it possibly more interesting? ( if they go all out :) )

I agree. I don't think it's going to happen (because he doesn't need to), but it would be great if the Dawgs of War would be unleashed one stage. Alpe or Ventoux, doesn't matter. I think he'd destroy the competition.

Damn I keep forgetting Dauphiné is on early. Curse you, Roland Garros!

Although I suppose at least missing it saved me from some serious anger.
