Sorry, even I don't see the connection.

Your Thorpe story has nothing to do with PED's. He's gone to rehab.

Lord knows any triple gold medalist was unlikely to have been clean at an olympics that took place at the height of the doping era, but that's been known for some time.

Why a totally unrelated story 14 years later is popping up in the Sky thread, I don't get it.

Careful The Hitch. It's unreasonable posts like this that defend Sky that just prolong this thread to it's massive length.

I mean, when someone posts in the Astana thread about a Kazhakstani ex-swimmer going into rehab for depression who, who while not actually having any actual connection to the Astana team or any personnel on it, did happen to be in the same country as some of the team's coaches twenty years ago, it would just be (more) obvious evidence of Nibali's current doping and no-one would even think to question that. Before you know it there would be 10,000 posts in that thread.

Agree, Hitch. Linking this gives the impression of wanting to look for a story regarding Sky.

A cheap way of doing it too when someone is suffering from depression.

Are you suggesting Ian Thorpe has been reading the Clinic too?

There is no intent to make light of the serious problems that Ian Thorpe is experiencing, or belittle more generally any sufferer of mental illnesses. Apologies if anyone feels (sincerely) that the post is insensitive]

Lets wait and see what comes out of Thorpe's therapy. His problems doesn't necessarily have anything to do with doping. However if it does, I hope he gives us the full account and not the 'I accidentally got hold of drugs from a vending machine at the airport' type statement.

Yeah I personally highly doubt his current state of mind has anything to do with doping.

Not directly, but it builds another layer on what is already a crazy livelihood, especially if you don't have the personality for it.

Isn't it generally a problem for elite sportsmen drugs or no drugs, especially after they retire, their main reason for existance is taken away, add to that the burnout that comes from obsessive desire to compete, etc

It does appear Lance's nonsense has worked for some......do you really think Betsy turned a blind eye? Really?

Betsy watched the telecast of the tour from their Dearborn home, and says she was devastated to see Frankie climb through the mountains in Sestriere, Italy.

“He had no business climbing,” she says. “A red flag went up; something was wrong here.”

After watching her husband perform in races for five years, and knowing his strengths and weaknesses on a bicycle, Betsy was sure that Frankie had broken his promise to her. He’d used performance-enhancing drugs.

“I knew it without having proof because he’s not a climber,” she says.

“I called him after that, and he was really tired and said he didn’t want to talk,” Betsy says. “I was really angry and I kept pressing. ... I waited till I got there, and we just got into a huge brawl. I mean, you know, a really, really big fight.

“He promised me he wouldn’t use it anymore. But he was kind of like, ‘Betsy, you do realize I’m going to be off the team.’

This is exactly how I feel, watching Brad climb in 2009 or 2011 or 2012.

RaceRadio, however, believes Sky's riders and performances are all clean.

And we are told over and over that you can't judge doping on performance.

So confusing.

Maybe you should tell us why you think sky are clean then, so we can close this thread and move on with our lives. Wouldnt that be better than this poor attempt at humor?

I believe he only thinks Porte is clean, after looking him in the eye. Froome is suspicious, but not as fast as Horner who is clearly doping.

Its amusing to read what you wrote in the other thread and now you are deliberately distorting what RR has said. It seems your 'agenda' is with RR.

He is right here today posting - why not ask him a specific question instead of the rather pathetic attempt at a slur.
And it might be better to actually use something more than Betsy noticing her husband doing something he usually could not do and that you believe it is relevant, if you want to play gotcha.

Same reason that you lie - interpreting things that have been written.

In 2012 I sent you a PM, incredulous about Sky. Your response? Nothing about Sky raised any flags with you. This was definitely after 2011 Vuelta.

How else should that be interpreted?

You were fine with those performances pre-PM, but have since changed your mind?

In 2012? And you wish to have a civil discussion?
I see you added in a question - smart move.

And just so we can clear this up - how can you dismiss RRs opinion as a lie? What is it that you know that suggests that its a lie.

I don't normally see your posts, but to clarify: RR says that George wrote in his affidavit, "Lance said that we have to start EPO". This is untrue. Untruths are lies.

Hence my, "interpreting things that have been written" line. RR does post in more than just this thread or my PM, Dr M.

Your nit picky date minutae, combative "civil discussion?", and subsequent arrogant "smart move" BS is clearly intended to pick a fight. I'm just going to call it out and leave it at that.

I will ask again, why do you lie?

I try to save all my PM's. Wasn't too hard to find yours. You sent me a rambling message. My answer was short and to the point.

I am perhaps the worst person to ask about this kind of stuff. I don't really follow much of those kind of blogs and I am not too up to speed with the Wiggins stuff. I keep an eye on it and discuss it with some contacts I have as I am interested if something develops but I have not seen a huge smoking gun yet

So, can I accuse you of lying?
Because when RR wrote a synopsis of GHs affidavit he actually wrote "Armstrong gets angry after Milan San Remo and says the team needs to start using EPO" -linked here.

Boo hoo - I don't care how you interpret my posts, you are not scoring well so far - however, you deliberately attempted to distort what RR says (from a 2012 private message).

Just in case there is any misunderstanding - this is a public forum, no-one asked you to post, you offered and when you do post, I will reserve the right to respond to it.

Hi Bison.
Most of the posts in this thread and others have little to do with the subject, but the person posting. If you don't want these 'particular convo's' happening then actually start doing some actual modding, if not let the members sort it out.
