Yes, I think you're absolutely right on the potential merits of Moore's threatened law-suit - especially with regards to Moore showing that criticism from Digger could have led to loss of earnings or led to a reasonable person to think worse of Moore. Indeed this is probably why it didn't happen.

It's still not got anything to do with Sky though, has it?

yeah that's why he got so hot and bothered....because he didn't care.

Marginal gains...and about getting a select few of the media onside to tell their version of events...to editors being bullied...to journos being blacklisted...but when this above is the result, they really ought not to even try and control the media.

why don't you start a new defence fund about it? seems like a good opportunity and, without knowing the exact story so pardon me if im wrong, seems like you are an expert on the matter?

I'd actually be more (no pun intended) concerned with Moore's anti-competitive behaviour towards Digger.

Is he suggesting his brand of fantasy is worth more than Digger's reality?

Moore knows he has sold out. Good for him. But he needs to tread carefully in threatening others who are writers even if they are writers only on Twitter.

Freedom of speech, right to earn a living and all that.

I've read this three times now, and I really can't make head nor tail of it. I can understand what you've written in the first paragraph, though why you've addressed that to me I've no idea (just to recap on the post of mine you're quoting, in it I'm agreeing with thehog that I don't think Moore's threat of legal action would have any merit). But then in the second paragraph you've lost me completely, when this above is the result of what? I'm sorry.

Are you about to suggest that Sky should sue Moore on Digger's behalf?

No.

I suggested that if Moore persisted with his threats, Digger (if he shall chose) to request Moore to desist from his anti-competitive behaviour.

Digger as does Moore has as much right to produce written works. Moore is open for criticism by the nature of his business. Good or bad. As is Digger. No one should threaten law suits in attempt to silence or increase their income in a particular market. Unless there is grounds to do so. Which there is not.

Anyway back to Sky.

Brings me back to last Summer - and I thought the USP/Lance fans were rabid....running commentaries on what I tweeted...good days

So the fans are undoubtedly a factor in the focus on SKY.

Walsh hasn't helped things with his relaying, or else, of what happened on Alpe d'huez

Correct. The law is there to protect, not to serve as a vehicle of intimidation.

Walsh worries me greatly. He trusted a few individuals who gave him very bad information. He choose to print that detail sans verification.

He won't be suing anyone. His book has so many holes in it that it could only be seen as satire.

I hope he made a good sum from it though. Well done. Journalists know those type of easy jobs don't come everyday.

Pay it forward.

Sure Stannard has improved. You would expect that from a rider his age. Steady improvement. Team history:

CQ performance:

Sure if he starts to drop everybody in RVV and/or PR with 5-50km to go or beat Boonen etc in a sprint, I'm not going to argue for his potential cleanness.

Bravo to the best climber of today's Paris-Nice pack: Geraint Thomas. It's not a big surprise in itself because he was even more impressive last year during the Dauphine.
He's another well developing UK Sky rider, nurtured by the BC academy in Quarrata, Barloworld with Froome. I am sure if I look at his CQ graph I will see the same progression as Stannard with this nice little bump in 2011 when SKY made some adjustments within their staff.
More admirable Thomas was supposed to be a classic specialist but he's an all-rounder like a modern version of George Hincapie.

let me guess, he is gruppetto quality, coming from nowhere, not talented enough to come 2nd on a hill stage in a WT race

There it is.
In 2012, he obviously had a track focus for much of the year.

thats a pretty smooth progression apart from the 2012 drop.

I find it very peculiar how every Sky rider who didn't attend to the training camp in Mallorca once again are showing FAR better form than the rest of the team.

Why weren't Porte, Froome and Geraint training with the rest? Why would they separate those guys completely from their teammates?

Is the training camp so bad that they prefer to stay at home, or are they trying to hide something?

Did everyone except those three go there?

because Porte and Thomas were racing TDU and training in Australia, Froome as usual in South Africa.

You guys can close this thread. Justin Bieber's #1 fan...sorry, the hog, believes that Sky are doping, so there is no way they are doping. Laws of the universe people, can't argue with 'em. Turn out the lights, the party's over.

Good post Chewie.

Good post Chewie.

I always knew Sky were clean(you don't wash your hands if you want to be dirty).:D

I forgot, did he focus on the track pre 2010 as well?

Fearless Greg Lemond said:
No, he focussed on being a nice rider on Barloworld.

Ah the old "came from nowhere" gambit.

Aged 17:
2004 1st Junior Paris–Roubaix
1st Scratch Race, Junior World Track Championships
An interesting combo.

The Barloworld years:
2007
1st Team pursuit, World Track Championships
Youngest rider in the Tour de France (aged 20)
2008
Completed the Giro (aged 21) before.....
1st Team pursuit, Olympic Games
1st Team pursuit, World Track Championships

After which....
5th Coppa Bernocchi
6th Overall Tour of Britain

2014
Finished 2nd on a intermediate stage of Paris-Nice.

If posters truly believed Sky were a clean team, they wouldn't be wasting their time in places like the clinic trying to convince others.

I guess some of those who defend Sky are affiliated to Sky in some way, the others hope to prove to themselves what they know isn't true.

I will defend Sky based on laws of the universe that cannot be mentioned. But it's clear that Froome is a supremely talented rider who is using the legal limits to achieve a wonderful and warranted result.

I also like Porte. The guy buries himself for his team, and he deserves all of the accolades he receives. He also deserves the full support in the Giro. He can, and should win if he rides to his abilities.

Go Team Sky!
