Whether the line is a downward trend or not is irrelevant. The idea of using blood doping is to decrease the rate of that downward trend.

I am always staggered that people do not scrutinize Wiggins blood values from 2009 more closely. Everyone has studied Armstrong's and accept them as evidence of doping, why not the same for Wiggins.

i have shown them to three people who know about blood doping - and all three say it shows blood doping - not even close.

Morkenberg says it's not right.

Walsh told me he'd get an independent expert to look at them - evidently he didn't bother.

It's simply not good enough that JV can explain away this problem by saying it was machine calibration issues....heads I win, tails you lose...

I wonder in this year's version whether Richie Porte and Sky are going to "play" with the field again. You know what I mean - 1,2 one stage with Froome, then Porte finishes 30th the next stage, only to challenge for the win in the next one.

Why the rolleyes? It's fairly standard strategy (and has always been!) that climbers loose a heap of time so they are no danger for the classification and thus can win a stage. Nothing nefarious there.

That said, I am pretty sure Richie is going for the podium.

A few questions on this.

(i) Does Morkenberg say it is actually dodgy or that it's not within any reasonable tolerance? I have seen a Google translated interview so with something like this it can be difficult to get the nuance of the language? He says it does not follow an expected pattern but of course from a scientific point of view that may not mean they are suspicious.

(ii) Assuming he does not come out and say it (i.e. He is doping) then why not? The 3 people you have consulted seem to think it is obvious. From what I gather he says Armstrong's values can indicate blood doping so why not the same about Wiggins?

(iii) Why not get together these guy's analysis and get someone like Kimmage to print it.

Worth posting in this thread too. This is the phrase I find telling:

Sky have moved, almost imperceptibly, from being a team founded as the pinnacle of the Olympic development pyramid, with the goal of furthering British cycling interests, to being a multi-national professional outfit with a British core.

In 2013 they took 1 British rider to the Giro, 3 to the TdF and 1 to the Vuelta. So far this year 1 at the Giro, and looks like only 2 to the TdF. Instead of taking an established GC rider like Brad, they prefer to develop an Australian, in Porte. They fail to sign the Yates brothers, for which I am glad. I just hope they don't get their hands on other British talent like Tao geoghegan Hart

How good is Geoghegan Hart?

Contador and Movistar are in full-*** mode this year, if Sky start ****ing about like last year they're going to regret it.
I'm hoping Sky DO come into the Tour expecting to be allowed to get away with those silly antics, Froome needs his ego put in check. As does baldy.

.....and just wait for Walsh to call them out for doping.

Yeah, those Gaelic folk. Why can't they give themselves proper names. Next they will try and bring their food over. Well sorry, I am sticking with proper British food like curry and kebabs.

If UCI/ASO have awarded the 2014 TdF to Sky then Contador and Movistar will play ball just like everyone else did for 7 long years ;)

There is more to winning the TdF than doping for it.

UkPostal train on the front for Froome at Dauphine. They have at least thrice as many riders than the other teams on the final climb..........

That's because the other teams don't train properly. They need to stop these coffee rides and follow Sky's lead when it comes to training.

You know, I have felt that Sky was likely keeping it legal. Questionable, perhaps, but legal by technicality at least.

But the fact that we are seeing the Sky train again. I mean 5 guys when nobody else can keep but ONE in the group? Eph, man. Then they start dropping contenders, and they've still got Froome +2?

I'm sure it is possible that they have such a group of concentrated talent that this is possible, but I don't like it. That one team can dominate like the Yankees did baseball, or Brazil in football? Or the infamous blue train.

Surely the train works because you burn riders up, get them to go max effort o x amount before peeling off and soft-pedalling to the top. Of that group today Contador beat Froome, Talansky beat Froome and I think even Hesjedal came around him at the end. So it a succession of measured efforts, which culminatively prevent other riders attacking.

I think Sky look poor, they were out-thunk by Saxo today, they were able to rest their doms, and Berite just surfed the Sky train and then took off.
