Be interesting to mix some beer and wine and let it ferment on a hot, summer's day in a cup in the sunshine and see what it smelt and tasted like when thrown on a hot and sweaty rider. This explanation seems equally plausible to me.

Certainly warm CHEAP beer smells pretty awful on a summers day.
It undoubtedly could be mistaken for urine in passing.

That's much better then  Urine, beer or even beer with wine, they still shouldn't be throwing on the rider. It's not like they were worrying he was dehydrating is it

Could not agree more.

Plus, the colour could easily be mistaken as urine.

For the record: the throwing or spitting of anything on the riders is an act of cowardice, and reprehensible behaviour like that should be policed if at all possible. Revolting.

What will be interesting is if Sky produce a French tour winner / contender. Wonder what the reaction will be then ...

He tried that line last year.

The Brits will spit at the French Sky rider? ;)

The French Sky rider will spit at everyone on account of some rare disease?

MDR!!!

Oui oui!!

Phenomenal answer.

I don't mean to be insincere, but you did just make an argument you knew to be FOS because the conclusions agreed with your position.

Now you want to be taken seriously. Much mirth.

Can you point out where I said anything along the lines of "FOS"?

I said the data isn't perfect. It isn't, but it's still good enough to tell a story, and tell it quite convincingly at that. It takes an enormous leap to go from "not perfect" to "FOS", but I am not at all surprised that you were the one to pull it off.

I think almost everyone would recognise the smell on the other hand. It's probably just **** reporting.

Well, this Brailtalk (that actually started a year ago) is basically an open laugh at the face of the fans and the world: We can make the champion from ANYONE! Even the french whiteflag soldier, if ASO/UCI wants it so badly... you don't believe it? Vroom is the proof!

Re: Sky

Nice to see solid representation from the two dodgiest teams around, Sky and Astana!

Where are these Sky guys coming from?

When riders from other teams get dropped quickly, most of them tend to stay dropped.

'surprised' Thomas managed to stay so close after being dropped early on while the pace was reaching maximum. Also surprised Porte could pace Froome for that long.

Warm cheap French beer is chemically only one molecule different to actual piss.

If it was Australian beer then the doubters and the accusers are both technically correct

Poels gets dropped on the first climb, and he's the only one who can go with Quintana on the Alpe?

Are there any non-Sky precedents for this? I can't think of any.

Probably during the Armstrong years but those didn't happen so they don't count.

Froome almost being dropped by Poels and Porte :D

This.
To be fair, Poels and Porte couldn't drop Contador etc. when they responded to Quintanas first few attacks. Not that they have any business being near even a struggling Contador at that part of the stage.
