I had thought he would be using someone out of the team, but I'm obviously wrong. That's one thing that's anomalous with Wiggins: his breakthrough clearly dates from his time at Garmin, but everybody here is arguing it's Sky team doping. If it dates from Garmin, as it does, he has to have had an outside doctor the whole time, but no one here has alleged that. Doesn't add up. It's all about Sky, a U.K. team. Spanish rider/team supporters are evidently p1ssed at always being the dopee supporters of the peloton.
And this stuff about Murdoch is ridiculous. I don't like the guy but he wouldn't know the front of a bike from the back. He couldn't care less. The fact Sky is sponsoring a cycling team probably hasn't even crossed his mind. He doesn't know or care. It's like complaining about Garmin because they were formed when Georgie Bush was prez, whatever. Just doesn't wash.
Orvieto said:Well that was very disheartening. What's most disgusting is that Sky told us they were going to do it. In interviews all spring Wiggins has being saying that this will be the tactic. Their domestiques would drive the pace to drop the favourites and escort him to the summit. We all remember the last time the "let's all ride faster than everybody else" tactic was successful. Teams have tried to do this, but it never works. If your domestiques could all outclimb everybody else's star climbers, they wouldn't be domestiques. It only works if you have a systematic doping program and everyone else is just putzing around in ones and twos.
You can nit-pick and say that any one of these individual performances are explainable, but when you examine the totality of all the exceptions, it's hard to avoid the conclusion.
Wiggins might have just turned himself into a rider who used to manage his losses on mountains, to one who is there in the finale.
Froome might be a pure revelation that appeared from nowhere.
Porte might have found maturity and climbing legs to become the first class mountain domestique he never was.
Rogers might be having become a climber it the last quarter of his career.
F. Schleck might be having a bad day. Menchov might be having a bad day. JVDB might be having a bad day. Basso etc. etc.
But it's too many coincidences to be taken seriously.
I wonder what Bruyneel is thinking. How funny is it that he's not in France this July, but that he continues to haunt the race? This is his strategy. The strategy that only works for him and Armstrong, but is now working for Mello Wiggo.
thehog said:Also if that climb was any longer they would have much more time into the rest of the field. Minutes. It was scary the way they rode. I'm surprised they haven't been practising how to look tired. At least they should be pretending that they're over the limit.
Froome, Wiggins should have 3-4 minutes on Evans and Nibs by Tuesday and around 6-7 minutes on the rest. Come the 3rd week they'll be so far in front it won't be funny.
I cannot see how any other team can win the race from here. Its not possible when you're competing on unrestricted doping.
maxmartin said:funny thing is at the end of the stage, Nibali said he is absolutely at his limit, while Wiggins said he and Froom did not turn on full gas yet and they did not intend to destroy the whole peloton in the first mountain stage.

nighttrain said:Wonder what Matt Decanio thinks of today's finish? Wasn't his concerns about the doping habits of Micheal Rogers' during the 2002 Tour de Beauce the beginning of the end for the young whistleblower? Decanio seemed like such a fringe element back then but all he claimed now appears likely or has been proven as fact.
Ripper said:Wiggo didn't say that did he? If he did then he was messing with folks. He looked on the rivet at the end to me.

“Obviously Lance when he was young was very similar, very explosive very strong looking and robust,” said former British champion Sean Yates. “I think we can see the same characteristics in Sagan.”
Why does Yates keep spewing stupid $hit? It just draws suspicion to Wigans.

And Murdoch=David Cameron=Buckingham Palace=Diana=a conspiracy in a French tunnel=Dodi Fayad=Harrods=expensive shopping=inflation rate=Phillips Curve=stagflation=global economic crises=a failure by Obama to get re-elected=a conspiracy in Kenya by Froome with Obama's birth records.
I think I've missed something here.
or perhaps, Armstrong is the embodiment of the business of sport, and the sport of business.BroDeal said:I am becoming convinced that there are severe and negative effects on brain cells from the doping products used in pro cycling. It beggars the imagination that anyone would be stupid enough to make a comparison with Armstrong when he may be months away from being shown to be the biggest fraud in sports history.
Moose McKnuckles said:Indeed. Sky did nothing special today. The fact that they blew away the top riders in the world on what Parrot23 says was a "short climb" was just an indication that everyone else stinks except for Sky. Froome seems to have recovered just in time. What luck.
The guys that even entertained riding clean after today's stage are likely reconsidering that strategy.
I'm not saying Sky doesn't have good riders, but we've seen this movie before. It's like watching Nightmare on the Champs Elysees 8.
BroDeal said:Decanio was a nut, but I remember his writing about doing a race with Rogers. Decanio yelled at Rogers that he was riding clean. Rogers gave him the stink eye.
If Rogers is performing well then you know that something is up. He is the Australian Leipheimer, only a lot less successful.
Franklin said:Clean Sky, where mediocre riders can dial in 480 watts.
blackcat said:actuallly, if you peruse the history of all of the sky team, they are blue chip, they aint donkeys.
Kansta Siutsov rode high into the top teens, by the latter of his first Tour with Barloworld, where he was threatening the white jersey when he would'a been 23ish. Quality. Quality.
they have left our Lovqvist for chrissakes.
Team Sky, are great. Rogers a 10th in a Tour, as the all round domestique. Ricie Porte getting mungrel duty on the mountains, has showed potential as a GC rider in 2010 Giro.
They aint monkeys.
Landis was a domestique for one stage of his career.Franklin said:Compared to who they destroyed mediocre is a fair description for these domestics.
