Probabaly something along the lines of this: Moreno, Fernandez, Soler, Bentacur, Carapaz, Rojas, Izagirre, Sutherland, Anacona? There's also Dowsett and Oliveira.

Could be a decent addition considering the fact that there are many hilly days (as far as I remember).

Very curious how he will fare in a free role. A couple of years ago he was very impressive in the shirt of Lampre

Haha yeah, pretty pathetic. They are trying so I can't really fault them, it just so happened that their best rider, their leader, everything that you connect to Abarcá crashed before the first time check. So its really pretty expected looking at the team and Nairo's shape.

This team is very bad. Now in hindsight is easy to question some of the inclusions like Amador and Herrada. Seriously, did Herrada abandoned already?

Those three and Moreno would be good mountain helpers for Betancur

Re selection, very good, but also expected. I think the boys will be ready to chase stages and and such with a maximum of freedom! This is such a big opportunity.

Sutherland will also be present in the Vuelta, his schedule was Giro-Vuelta. And i have read somewhere that Erviti will also ride the Vuelta, but i can't find that particular article anymore.

So with Betancur and Moreno that would make 7 already, but i'll have to see if Betancur makes it to the selection. He wasn't scheduled to race the Tour, so two GT's in a row could be too much for him at this point. Barbero, Anacona, Olivera to fight for the last spots, assuming Rojas will be surely there.

What is the point of taking Erviti and Sutherland to the Vuelta if neither Nairo nor Valverde will be at the Vuelta. Maybe those were the original plans, they will probably deviate some from it. Just saying.

Experience, keeping the young guns safe on the ''flatter'' stages. There aren't many options left i'd always prefer those two over a Bico, Carretero or Dowsett.

Sutherland should suffice, there is no need for Erviti IMO. I hope to see Barbero in the team as well, along with Anacona and Oliveira. So those 4 and the 5 mentioned above.

I hope so, Nairo still remains one of my 2 favo riders (the other being Alejandro) but I have this gut feeling since the end of the Giro that Nairo and his family are seriously considering leaving Movistar. Of course the relationship could be repaired but at least the only thing we know for sure is that the (family) Nairo camp isn't 100% with Movistar at this moment.

Roson and Landa are huge signings. Great.

On the Tour, literally the only bright spot was Betancur. Thats says a bit, doesnt it? :D But the team vanished on stage 1, so again, I can't blame them.

The problem is, when they became a Continental team they were essentially a semi-feeder for Abarcá, that's why guys like Kwiatkowski were there. When they went ProConti that role ended, but they've still suffered repeatedly from Unzué treating them like so whenever one of their home-grown talents becomes strong enough for the World Tour, with José Herrada and Javi Moreno coming in 2012, Rubén Fernández in 2015, Carlos Barbero this year (admittedly to replenish their depleted and mostly irrelevant sprinting side) and now apparently Rosón for 2018. Caja Rural, for their part, have gladly swallowed up Abarcá offcuts like Ángel Madrazo, Sérgio Pardilla, David Arroyo and - via other teams of course - Luís León Sánchez.

Losing Rosón will gut the Caja Rural team for sure as he's been the prime bright spot in the squad since all their homegrown talents like Bilbao, Barbero and Fraile were pilfered. But the loss is definitely exacerbated by the fact Trofimov's off-road and visa issues have prevented him racing and the Vuelta has yet to come when somebody like a Pardilla could well get a fairly quiet but decent placing and a stage win here or there could be possible, even if only from a departing rider. They have some really good talent in their U23 team though. Álvaro Cuadros won the Memorial Balenziaga and was 2nd in the Subida a Gorla, two of the most important Basque amateur races, both for climbers, and has good mountain performances back to the Peace Race in 2014. Mauri Moreira is a good Uruguayan prospect who's the national TT champion but has good results in punchy races as well as powerhouse flat racing. And Xavier Cañellas is just 20 but looks like a dynamic prospect, he comes from a track background and has good sprint strength as well as an eye for the right move to follow.

They do run the risk of essentially becoming a Spanish Topsport Vlaanderen, and they do probably need to pick up somebody as a pseudo-leader to help take pressure off their development corps in the way Rosón could do if they could keep him, or Trofimov maybe could have done in the way LuLu, Txurruka or Pardilla have done in the past, or at least kept one of Barbero and Bilbao, who could provide a steady stream of results. We can laugh but somebody like Zubeldia would have been perfect if a couple of years younger. They've probably been scared off hunting the Portuguese scene for riders after their experience with Alberto Gallego, otherwise someone like Amaro Antunes or Joni Brandão might cross their mind. It's too late for Igor Antón I think, notwithstanding he'll also obviously be a target of Murias. Ideally, someone like Plaza or Navarro would be free for them. As it stands, Rafa Valls is probably the most obvious target who's out of contract I think.

However, it's worth noting that the two biggest standouts at Lizarte this year are Jaime Castrillo and Sérgio Samitier, both of whom are climbers. If Movistar are signing Rosón and Landa too, that's a lot of new climbing talent onto the team especially only a year after Carapaz and with Soler just starting to hit his stride, so they've got to make room. They're already losing out on rouleurs with Malori retiring, but with Castroviejo rumoured to be leaving and guys like Dowsett now considering their future too, they're probably going to have to jettison some capable climbers to keep the team functional because that's a lot of flat horsepower being lost. It can't just be the likes of Arcas and Pedrero that get lost in the shuffle, so there ought to be some of their climbing corps available for Caja Rural to try to pick up too...
