Damn it was a shame Kwito never signed for Movistar. I have fallen in love with that kid this year, his spring was amazing and I have never seen such a strong domestique in Le Tour. Maybe Heras in 2002, correct me if Im wrong I think, but that didnt matter anyway since Lance was in his absolute prime and Beloki wasn't quite the Beloki we came to love for a few days in 2003. Unfair, on Joseba that is...

Movistar need to shift out Quintana for Landa and see what happens. It will be very difficult to replace Valverde, but Landa might step up in character outside the road so to speak.

Nah, no need to be shitfting anything. That would mean Valverde is a question mark and no Quintana in 2018 - thats basically their core for the last 5 years, those 2 riders alone. Just add Landa instead, everyone has a bad year every now and then. 'Bad' year, winning Valencia and T-A, 2nd in the Giro including Blockhaus.

An update on Landa

He would earn 2M a year, more than the previous offer of Unzue (1.5M) in 2015 ( where he eventually chose for Sky). This shows how much Unzue wants to sign Landa.
The day before the Tourdepart Valverde already approved the signing of Landa in a chat with Unzue.

The godfather approved, then we can proceed the negotiations.

The petrodollars from Abu Dhabi were tempting, but in that case he would have to leave his beloved Spain for fiscal reasons. He prefers a move to Movistar.

Landa should always have been riding for Movistar anyways, then Quintana and Valverde can forget about the Giro and can unleash hell in France and later the Vuelta.

The third time the good time. A pity we've never got to see such a class rider like Contador with Abarca, Bjarne Riis and Saxo could offer him more security at the time while the project Movistar was in the pipelines.

How is Movistars budget as comapred to Katusha, Sky?
Can they afford 3 GT stars: Bala, Stoneface, Pokerface and also have enough kitty left to build a firely squad of roleurs, mountain goats around them?

Landa vs Quintana is a very interesting trade. I think both riders share many similarities in terms of qualities, but I think Landa is more of a late bloomer and in terms of tactics and seasonal build ups they're pretty different.

That said, I'm incredibly impressed with Landa this Tour, and even though he did not ride the GC in the Giro, having a massive crash and going into all those mountain breakaways must do a number on you too.

There won't be any trade, unless you have some new information. Both Unzue and Quintana himself have made it clear that he will stay until the end of his contract.

Something similar. Or just put Landa on the TdF team, lmao that would be great. Kelme and ONCE on steroids.

With the exception of a small miracle, this will be the first Tour without a Movistar rider in the top-10 of the GC nor any stage victory..

Jonathan Castroviejo: "When you crash at the start, even if you have good legs as I did, there are too many inconveniences hoy have to get over: I had to change bikes, lost all references as a result of it, the crash also takes away your morale... As I said, I felt well during the time trial, but the only thing I could do after the crash was just finishing as good as possible. Regarding the team, it's true that every season is different, and this TDF was just a rough one for all of us, but many times when you go through misfortune you end up having some good luck later on. Let's hope next year's is a good one for us."

Castro stays eventually?

Imagine a Valverde, Quintana, Landa and Soler onslaught next year. That sounds so scary
In the Tour? Then I can imagine it being brought back by Geraint Thomas while Poels and Froome are still on the wheel.

Yes and lol, pretty much, but I'd like to imagine something different, a Kelme squad on steroids.

Seriously tho, I don't think Bardet will get better than this, I don't think Ag2R will be that strong relative to the opposition again (they were impressive, but lacks top-end quality), and I do think a fully loaded Movistar squad is the only that can threaten Froome properly outside of Dumoulin.

Mostly there are 2/3 newcomers a year within the team, but this time there will be possibly multiple signings.

Rumoured

Landa
Sepulveda
Roson
Castrillo
Samitier
Kudus

So thats 4 more or less pure climbers from the pro ranks.

Can anyone tell me about Samitier and Castrillo?
