So from that and the times I'm guess on it was the 500m swim and 1 km running, Might have been less swimming

I think it was something like 300m swim and 1500m run. I just don't believe professional cyclist can swim that distance in 1:30/100m pace.

I'd be worried if it took bauke took 5 minutes to run a km

Yeah, even I could run a km around 2 minutes and 50/55 seconds when I was still a kid. And I was a sprinter/long jump kind of guy when I still did track and field.

Of course the swimming part will have tired them out, but 5-6 minutes would still be way too slow for a professional athlete.

Indeed. I ran 2km in 8 minutes and 8 seconds at the age of 12.
And while I certainly had a decent condition I wasn't the winner of the local village 2km race. I ended like 9th or something with atleast 2 infront of me who jumped on the back of a bike during the run :p
So atleast 6 were faster and I think the winner who did athletics did it in little over 7 minutes at the age of 12.
So if the Rabobank guys ran 1 km they certainly are very poor runners :p

They are professional cyclists, why would their running times matter?

Well aerobically cyclists are some of the best athletes in the world so you would think that they would be able to run faster times than they did in that little event rabobank held.

I can cycle all day, but if I try and run my hamstrings tighten up and I can barely walk the next day. Maybe that is why I am ****.

They have the aerobic capability, but not the muscles.

Ah, so you know which distance they ran?

Yes, but a few cyclists went to my secondary school all dominated cross country races and beat guys who were actually runners themselves. They still were very sore like Craig and you have said but aerobically they were superior. in this case if the premise that the distance was 1km, then yes the times are very slow.

Well I was just replying to what Craig was asking as the general consensus was that it was 1km and he was wondering why people on this thread were so shocked at the times.

why wouldn't they do AFF? seems weird that a pro athlete would trust his life to someone else. I would think he would be perfectly capable of Accelerated Free Fall. I have skydived a dozen times and have never been strapped to anybody.

It would prob have something to do with insurance reasons. There is no chance a pro footballer would be allowed to jump out of a plane on his own or strapped to someone

cyclists are notoriously bad runners. I thougth this was known all around. eddy mercks once trained with anderlecht and every player of the team lapped him at lease twice and that was during his heydays. jan mulder siad something about this one time

Lance did the NYC marathon in 2.46. First attempt 2.59

Ok so he was a triathlete once. What about this then.

Beloki run the NYC marathon in 2.53, first attempt without any pacemakers, and this was long after his crash and retirement.

Seems some of them can run and then some.
