Team Rosters for the Tour de France

Hi Guys,

I am getting impatient about who is going to France this summer. Can you give me a hand? I know some of you have a lot of resources to give me an advance on who is going. the only one that I know is Cofidis. But nothing about the rest. Can we at least speculate?

Thanks.

Do you know about your team, CAISSE D’EPARGNE?

you said you knew the selection of Cofidis. Can you fill me in, then i'll add it to the my prior post
You know, I used to use CN for all sources, now I have to find other sources to get the news. The new arrangement sucks.

Here you go:

Cofidis team:
Stephane Auge (FRA), Samuel Dumoulin (FRA), Leonardo Duque (COL), Bingen
Fernandez (ESP), Christophe Kern (FRA), Sebastien Minard (FRA), Amael Moinard
(FRA), David Moncoutie (FRA), Remi Pauriol (FRA).

Cervelo (IMO):

Carlos Sastre
Thor Hushovd
Heinrich Haussler
Simon Gerrans
José Angel Gomez Marchante
Iñigo Cuesta
Volodymir Gustov
Brett Lancaster
Hayden Roulston

I put Cuesta in there as it would be logical that he would be signed to help Sastre (and at his age) and I guess the same for Gustov. Lancaster and Roulston to be able to lead out Hushovd and use their tracks skills in the TTT (and for the lead outs). Would be a solid line-up.

Rabobanks definitive roster has been announced:

Robert Gesink
Joost Posthuma
Stef Clement
Laurens ten Dam
Juan Antonio Flecha
Oscar Freire
Juan Manuel Garate
Denis Menchov
Grischa Niermann

Good support for Menchov with Gesink, Ten Dam and Garate. Freire looks pretty isolated though (maybe he'll get some help from Flecha), but he's shown in the past that he can do it all by himself. I wonder though how this team will hold up in the TTT. Menchov, Clement and Posthuma have a good to great TT, but they seem no match for the likes of Astana, Columbia and Garmin.

HA, I was right about Nierman, unfortunately wrong about Moerenhout. I had expected him to take Posthuma's place. Especially given his leadership abilities (road captain), and the great TT in the ToB, while Posthuma had shown some poorer results.

I think they'll have to try and limit their losses in the TTT, just like Cadel Evans, has to do with his team, and then hit the competition hard in that ITT and/or have some luck to take time at opportune moments. If the top three can stay within a minute's reach of each other (like last year) you could lose doing a sloppy descent or getting caught behind a crash, or win by putting in one amazing climb...

Saxo Bank

Andy Schleck
Frank Schleck
Chris Anker Sorensen
Jens Voigt
Fabian Cancellara
*
Stuart O'Grady
Nicki Sorensen
Gustav Erik Larsson
**
Matti Breschel OR Kurt Asle Arvesen
****
Further down the list: Fuglsang

The riders in the first group are dead certainties, the second as well however O'Grady's bodyguard position for the Schleck Brothers could be questioned due to just have come back from a serious injury. That role could be given to Breschel who knows all about positioning in the peleton despite his young age, or Jens Voigt at a stretch.
My guess is Arvesen is going to miss out, as well as Jakob Fuglsang who by the way is definitely someone to be reckoned with next year.

Gustav Erik Larsson and Chris Anker Sorensen will be the last Saxo Bank riders before The Schlecks are on their own.

Yes I failed to add that 'category' to the list with all the teams and riders ;)

Menchov, but also Schleck ha, or maybe even Gesink would get an 'SD' behind their name... I wish four eyes Zulle was still with us

You're right Jasper, but the hacks in Denmark

are creaming themselves with the prospect of Fuglsang and even former riders like Rolf Sorensen, who's also doing the commentary stuff on TV2S, have questioned Saxo Banks decision not to include him.
Rolf Sorensens point is, Fuglsang would probably have to do some serious pulling on the climbs, but would be allowed to call it a day afterwards and roll in with the sprinters.
If they want to protect young Fuglsang, Rolf Sorensen questions the sanity in blooding him for the Vuelta where he probably is supposed to end in the top 10 instead of the above mentioned scenario in Le Tour.

Maybe they're just hoping for another Andy Schleck scenario?

Something like that mate, the hacks are desperate for

a new young rising star - and generally the sport is on a rise in Denmark with up and coming talents east and west.

Rasmus Guldhammer who's only 19 won the Amstel Gold Race (U23) as well as being second in the Paris Roubaix equivalent, has just signed for the team of Cavendish and Hagen, Breschel has already got 3 victories this season, young sprinter Alex Rasmussen has lots of medals on the track, and Chris Anker Sorensen is a very acknowledged climber.
Jakob Fuglsang has the potential to be very very good, he's got a good engine and he can climb, but Denmark is a bit like Belgium and Holland in size as well as expectations; Where is the next Bjarne Riis/Rolf Sorensen, Eddie Merckx/Museeuw/Boonen, Zoetemelk etc.
