I think Tinkov would like lods of wins, he stated that during last season anyway. Samu still have something I believe, and at this point, he can not be very expensive.
If he gets another program, where he perhaps target one week races and some one day races. Or just focus on being a stage hunter, instead of killing himself in the Giro mountains and so on, I am pretty sure Riis would be able to get more than 1 victory from Samu.. But of course, he is not a winning machine, but as you say, not a lot of them out there.

But it all depends what Tinkov wants, if he knows. Or what Riis wants, Tinkov did say today that he would only make "suggestions" regarding the riders to be signed. But Riis would have the final word.

When was the last time Riis turned one of these "over the top" riders into winning machines?

I'm not buying it.

On the Tinkov "hands off" management style? Well, I'm not buying that either.

I think we all can agree on that Roche looks good in a suit.

+1 :D Roche always looks stylish with his wordrobe choices. Check out his website.. he IS handsome. He makes leather looks good. :D .. sorry to digress, anyway... saxo can get a loose canon sponsor, but roche always looks good no matter what :D

Porte vs Froome at the tour '15?

Porte will be ridiculously expensive after May next year imo.

tinkoff has the money. Besides, if contador can't perform again or riis is gone due to dane's inquiry (means that contador will most likely leaving), he will buy the tree behind where porte used to stand his bike for godshake. The guy is crazy.

If Roche was there, why wasn't Kreuziger. Roman does seem to me to be Saxo's 2nd rider.

Wild guess. Riis and Tinkov wanted someone with english as their native language to clear up any misunderstandings during the press conference.

Roman is nice but still not great in english

I have serious doubts about that as well, but time will tell, pretty soon probably.

As I said, I don't think he can turn him into a winning machine, but I can not see, why a handful victories should not be possible.

But how?
The team operates with 5 GT/GC riders: Contador, Majka, Roche, Kreuziger and Rogers. These guys will go into various stage races as captains. How will Samu fit in other than a dom?

That leaves classics for Samu where he will still compete for captaincy with other Tinkoff riders. Is he even strong enough to win these now? I doubt it.

Wrong direction imo.

This picture says it all. Tinkov made Riis eat his own ****, and they both know it.

Riis should be a happy dude. He really cleaned up. 6m euro for the team and 1m Euro every year for at least 3 years. And then he loses the stress from having to search for sponsors all the time and can concentrate on training Berto. Ofcouse there are some downsides (having to deal with Oleg for example), but for 9 million Euroes he will wake up smiling every day despite any **** from Oleg

I agree. He doesn't need to stress out anymore, with 6million in his pocket as his retirement fund, and the next 3 million as his salary. Besides just like any other job, you always have a jerk boss. It's just a matter whether or not you can tolerate them and how long can you stand them :D:D. The silver lining is basically very silvery for Riis and for Bertie. If Bertie can deliver as worth as what he is being paid, he doesn't need to worry about it. In hindsight, Bertie got paid a lot of money, so he should deliver what he is worth. If not Bertie should give half of his salary to Roche or Kreuziger maybe..:p

this is not impossible. Porte has publicly said that he will leave the sky at the end of his 2 years contract and looking for a team that make him the team leader. Playing wingman was nice, but he realized that he can be up there with Froome. So should be interesting next year to watch porte. I'm sure tinfoff will have an eye on him.

Tinkov will probably sign whoever can take on Froome imo.

Looks like things were pretty bad for Riis
http://www.radsport-news.com/sport/sportnews_76071.htm

"I was at the bottom and near total collapse," Riis said in an interview with the Danish TV2 on the side of his wife Anne Dorthe Tanderup. "I spent the whole day lying in bed with the curtains closed, because it was impossible to understand these developments," the Tour winner of 1996. "I saw it coming no end. Had they taken our license, then all the work and the life cycle would have fallen apart. "

I can see how such a thing could depress someone, but his incapability to understand the developments sounds revealing of a certain mindset, still living in the past, irreformable.

I don´t think that is the case Christian.
His hands are tied behind his back, hes cornered.
If he starts to speak in public, he might as well pour gasoline on his life's work and light a match, it would be all over. Now he found a way out, but still wants to stay in the sport, we just have to wait and see.

He says he have revealed everything to the danish doping authorities though several meetings, and have informed his family...I guess something is on the way, and its not good news for mr. Riis.

No he has not.

I'm saying no to the following: "He says he have revealed everything"

In the doco he did *not* say that he has revealed everything. He might have told everything to ADD, but he hasn't said he has, in the doco.

I haven´t seen the doc yesterday unfortunately, I just read it somewhere.
But whatever is the truth, if he did or not, -wouldnt it be a good time to come clean, confess your sins away from the public eye, ADD will probably not go public with all the information he might or might not have provided them.

It looks like to me its the public opinion hes afraid of first of all, and of course losing his job.

In case somebody else didnt see it, heres a link to youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w7UytOlVsOo
