I'm steeled for chaos in the general board when I weigh in with my opinions of Sepp Kuss riding like this in his third GT on the bounce while trying to tiptoe around Clinic wordings at the same time as acknowledging that for some reason lots of people actually want him to win. I just wanted to make sure that you were just memeing and weren't actually trying to conflate the dominance of an etapa reina in a GT with winning a few bunch sprints in a podunk race with a weak field and a terrible parcours, as we have quite a few British posters who might actually take offence at the belittling of their national Tour, even though it's more about the disappointment of what it is vs. what it could be than any slight on the country or its parcours possibilities.

I never thought the 1-2-3 was possible until today, now I'd actually be surprised if it doesn't happen such is their dominance. Even Gesink and Kelderman in particular were shelling out riders one by one on the early slopes of the Tourmalet to set up the Vingegaard attack. We still don't know the real level of Roglic in this race as he hasn't really left it all out there yet bar the TT. Vingegaard while looking stronger today, still isn't at peak July form either but Kuss is the the biggest red flag. That attack towards the top of the final climb was insane and he has rarely had a bad day in over 50 stages of GT racing this year. Today might well go down as the day that jumbo peaked.

Yeah, blame the others... They were already on this path before the pandemic.
Then when covid tests became more important than doping, every team felt they had the green light to do whatever they want.

Jumbo Visma is just hilariously overpowered. They could draw their domestiques at random and still be among the top teams in any race. Everybody is just so used to them all being insane right now.

Sky dominated the GTs with a track rider, a classic specialist and especially with the guy who was disqualified for cheating/holding the car uphill

I guess this is where someone jokes that they're dominating with a fisherman, ski jumper and 'SUPER' dom

Anyway, don't want to dwell on the Sky stuff, it's old news now, even if the JV "less weight in his colon' explanations after the TDF TT brought back Brailsford vibes, and I honestly tuned out of this thread a while back when it seemed to become another Sky thread.

But I realised today that I've finally had my fill of this team, like after too much rich or sweet food. I couldn't help enjoying the JV circus for the last few years and welcomed Vin's emergence as someone who spared us many years of increasingly predictable Pog domination. From the 2020 train of death they moved on to more interesting tactics and we had some classic GTs to enjoy. I even managed to watch every minute of the much maligned Giro, although one of the winning team getting popped later was an obvious downer. But a few stages ago I suddenly realised I didn't want to see any more of this, and it wasn't until today when I tuned back in. To see the absolute slaughter by two riders who have already won GTs this season and their loyal helper who can triple up and seemingly just get better, not to mention the rest of them. It's just too much. Great for JV super fans I guess, for me I can see myself spending more time watching lesser races with weak fields like the Arctic Race of Norway for a bit, much like I did at a point last decade. Not that I'm having a pop at those who still enjoy the spectacle, that was me until recently. Enjoy.

In terms of this Vuelta, yes I'd agree. But only because we have become conditioned to expect a certain level of performance from Roglic and Vingegaard. Their big WTF moments have already come and passed.

Kudos for admitting to the former, but with regards to the latter, I already mentioned that in the brand spanking new Sepp thread, that it's kind of difficult for me to see anybody riding in Jumbo-Visma colours as the underdog.

I knew when I wrote that, the optics, but I think a domestique role is seen as an underdog, and comparatively to the team, he is the least likely of the main 3 to be vying for the win...until they transform Wout, and he wins the Giro...
