WvA is not a multiple monument winner tho :p

I was being generous because despite my (sorry) often boring rants here, I actually like WvA. But he shouldn't have a full team of helpers, let alone GC helpers, pulling for him in stage races (& certainly not in a GT).

One thing is clear, they badly miss Tony Martin..............

They miss the man Tony Martin, i.e. with his human qualities, but as a road captain he was imperfect. Some of the crashes last year were on him.

Basically we'll see how far the #samenwinnen motto goes this weekend. My prediction? Roglic & Vingegaard could be alone half way up the Croix de Fer. It's much, much easier to "win together" on flat or rolling stages than on hors catégorie cols.

Kruijswijk did a decent job on stage 3, and he shouldn't really get dropped too easily.

Yeah maybe if the group is whittled down to 20 riders they get isolated, but then it's not on them to attack and it shouldn't be extremely hard to control the race anyway. And I also don't really see any team stomping the CdF.

There probably would have been a terrible pun like "leap of faith" or something if Rog had won the TdF.

It's Netflix who're taking care of the documentary side of things this time so we'll see how well (or not) they do. Their Movistar cycling series was fun whilst their F1 series is B.S.

... of a very special man.

Still boring to just use the name of one - although probably one of the main - people involved.

Of course the Netflix documentary will follow a whole pile of teams, so the title might not have anything directly to do with Jumbo, or any one team for that matter. I think the title I've seen proposed is "Ride to Survive" (to compare it to the "Drive to Survive" F1 series.)

Netflix documentary will be named (and yes you guessed it correctly) Primož Roglič.

A documentary specifically about Jumbo where - if he'd made it to the end of the race - Roglic would have been main character; maybe (but still boring.)
A documentary about eight different teams; no way! Do you really think the other teams would accept that?

Of course, instead of a documentary about the team they could have made one about Roglic. Then it would either have ended with him dropping out, or shown his post-race exploits, including stuff like his reactions to the stage wins, and Vingegaard finishing second.

Just for the record i hope Netflix documentary won't be named Primož Roglič. As if it would be then Rogla would likely be portrayed in it as a super human. But we all know that is not true. He is just a mere human being like the rest of us.

Our Rogla.

Spoiler alert about the story line. A young inspiring ski jumper dreaming of Champs-Élysées. Going through the finest of what life has to offer in regards to trials and tribulations. Becoming a father and making it to the top by getting a real chance to beat Merckx at the Tour of France. Having the finest team in the history of cycling. The ultimate dream and the ultimate chase for green. His transition of becoming a stealth rider for a Team UAE. A lot of behind the scenes photos from UAE bus. Rogla being massaged and exposing his softer and more human side. After a ton of wheel sucking the final ITT ...

Regarding the cobbled stage I think based on his raw TT power and his excellent showing on the cobbles in GP Denain Roglic wont get significantly dropped except by ill timed mechanical or stuck behind a crash. I think, like Pogacar, he will demonstrate his all rounder skills and put time into the likes of Mas, Landa and the other GC climbers.

After last year's unfortunate events, perhaps "The Mummy Returns" would be an apt title... maybe a better ending this time.

Agreed. Save for misfortune, he will be one of the best GC riders on the cobbles.

Misfortune is just more likely to happen on cobbles. And you'll want help in case of misfortune.

If they set up Van Aert to guide and pull Rog during the stage it would be conceivable they could gain time on GC rivals. But that will also be a day where Van Aert is a favorite to win the stage. So will be interesting to see how JV play it. I suspect it will be to give Van Aert free reign.
