They put the pressure on Jorgenson for Amstel. Hope he's had enough intensity to do it. All of Belgium have declared it a no contest, though.
I'm really curious for Jorgenson in this Ardennes campaign in general. He's had this weird versatility that makes you think Liege and Amstel should probably be the 2 races that suit him best,

Yes, I was gonna mention that.
He seems to somewhat struggle in long races.
Many of which are part of domestique stage race efforts. He was in the vicinity at Strade Bianchi and has had some reasonable early stage race efforts. That may be enough for the next slate of races?

Visma on point with the prep for another GT. Many teams still have a lot to learn from them!

Piganzoli was possible to sign for many teams but very few would have him performing like this. 3rd from the GC gorup is very nice and quite surprising!

Also, he's a decent TT rider, - let's see if he can challenge for top 10 on tuesday.

You bet Hindley is gonna sign that contract in his own blood on the rest day.

This is what Visma do. They usually sign the less heralded talents and get the maximum out of them. I don't think anyone expected Piganzoli to be the best Italian in the Giro... but right now it looks like he is.

Unfortunately for him he will have to work to defend the pink jersey that is inevitably coming their way.

He won’t need to work at any point if visma don’t decide to. The team sizes are way too big and the best teams can easily control stages with the first line of domestics.

Much like Almeida didn’t need to work for Pog in the tour. The conventional thinking of all riders needing to sacrifice for one leader is just outdated. Look at the last multiple grand tours. After the ITT, JV will have a 3-4 minute lead on his closest rival. Piganzoli will have a free role.

No short term or recency bias here...

Unless this does mark a total and continued collapse in Pellizzari's form or Ciccone/Milan/Scaroni are unable to win a stage from now on, I think this is a bit over-reactive

My passing read was that it came from writers with nothing to do and Visma blew it off.
Who is complaining? Talk about bias... Vingegaard said he has done his best TTs in a leader's jersey, so he's not too concerned about it.

I suppose it's possible that the Resident TT-nerd at Visma (seems all teams have a Resident TT-nerd) might have made some comments. And of course, the people at Nimbl - the kit provider for Visma - has an interest in giving the impression that their kit is much better than everything else.

I'll do the complaining on behalf of Visma - It is completely crazy that the teams can't use their own jersey on ITT's. Millions are spent developing these suits with the sole purpose of having their top GC guy get the best time possible in GT ITT's.

And most of the time, when it really matters in GT TT's, the top rider can't even use it. That is not right or fair. UCI should obviously change the rules for this.

The UCI should not change rules around leader's jerseys to make rich teams happy

Arguably, UCI should not apply moralistic thinking about inequality of wealth, but make fair rules to ensure that teams have the best opportunity possible to compete on fair sporting merit.

Yes, they should make rules ensuring fair sporting competition by making rules that pander to rich teams so they have even more of an advantage than they already have...
