The starting list is a little less than last year probably because it's now in April.

The Boyaca team have a sick line-up I see them dominating the race for sure.

I saw the finale on Reforma last year. It was a pretty good race. Reminded me of the Tour finale in Paris (similar type of action and circuit). Landis showed up at the last second before the start and started in the last row, with a bodyguard standing next to him. Guess he was worried about getting kidnapped off the start line.
Rock and OUCH pretty much controlled the race.
Rasmussen was there watching the race from the Rock Racing VIP area.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to see it this year. I was looking forward to it.

Last year was a good race. As I recall, Lance sent them off as an honorary official. Simoni looked good winning one mountain stage and like he might win the overall at some point. Flandis looked decent throughout, loosing most of that time on the queen stage in sketchy weather.

Raleigh stranded in Manchester en route to Mexico due to Vulcano storm

Team manager Truett has high hopes, however, that team leader Dan Fleeman starts to flourish as the season progresses.

"We're hoping that the investment in Dan starts to pay off a bit more now," Truett explained. 19th overall in Majorca proved that Fleeman is heading in the right direction and the Mexican climbs should suit the Staffordshire man.

"He's had a bit of a slow start to the year I have to admit but he's only been racing once a week in the UK whereas in Europe he was racing day in day out.

"The climbs aren't long enough for him in the UK so his job is to perform well abroad".

The team is optimistic yet realistic as it readies itself for a journey of almost 6,000 miles to South America. More ...http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/news/latest/450499/raleigh-heads-to-vuelta-mexico-with-realistic-expectations.html

Perez-Cuapio

Whatever happened to Perez-Cuapio. He kicked *** in the Giro yars back and seemed like the next super climber--then he disappeared. What happened?

He won the GPM in 2002, he would wake from his slumber once a year to wreak havoc in the Giro mountains until 2008. In 2008 he was on "that" CSF Group-Navigare team, and was one of the three riders (the other two being Sella and Baliani) who could be guaranteed to be off the front in any mountain stage. I think he went solo over the Gavia. On the queen stage, coming into the final climb the break consisted of Rodríguez, Nibali and the three CSF climbers. And a fourth, Pozzovivo, came 2nd on the stage.

Since then he's disappeared off to his homeland and been incredibly quiet. Maybe there is something in that. I hope not, because I liked him. But I think there probably is.
