Fine ill make the argument without attacking you.
Kim is 11th in the rankings. That suggests there are plenty of players better than her.
She also doesn't perform on clay or grass, just on hard courts. Other players manage on all surfaces.
Yes she has been injured. But injuries are Serenas problem too.
If we overlook injuries then Serena> Kim
If we don’t overlook injuries Wozcniacki (and 10 others) > Kim.
Either way Kim is not way better. She isn’t even better. She is great but there are others who are better.
Overall Serena Williams is much better than Clijsters(for one, she's better on the grass), but since 2009 I think Clijsters has shown better tennis than Serena Williams, so hence my statement. They both had a lot of injuries in those 3 years, so it evens somewhat out. I don't hold much value to those rankings by the way. Wozniacki is the most consistent tenniser today, but she's not the best. That's why she's number one without having won a GS so far. Consistent yeah, but not the best. Or second best, or even third best... Serena will have to prove her self again at the highest level and if she does I'll happily retract my statement.
But I really do believe Clijsters is clean. She wants to quit tennis after this year to spend more time with her daughter(and she already had a break from tennis for 2 years to take care for her kid). Plus she doesn't look like a body-builder. She doesn't sound like someone who is desperate to win at all costs... Serena Williams on the other hand...
And Clijsters hasn't entered many clay or grass GS a lot last 6 years because of her retirement and injuries. It doesn't mean she isn't good in them though. She has made it to the final of Roland Garros twice losing to Justin Henin both times. What makes you believe she's not good on clay? Henin was the queen of clay, but after her Clijsters was one of the best. And right now, there's not one tenniser who dominates the clay season like Rafa Nadal does with the men and Henin used to do in the past.
William sisters also racked up some extra GS victories when both Clijsters and Henin were retired(mostly due to Henin though).
For me, the tennis ranking is a ranking of consistency not per se a ranking of who is the best though often the best tennis player is also the most consistent one. Clijsters was ranked number one last year before all her injury problems. I don't know what rankink Serena has at the moment, but it probably doesn't do her justice.
Though I will admit that if Serena Williams can enjoy a full season without injuries she'll likely reach her old level again.
