Probably a few OTLs after this, if raced from the gun.

Yes, because he's not already nearly the (if not the) best in the world at the omnium...who won gold in that event in London?

The track is one thing. Road cycling offers more money, publicity, glory(?). There's a reason so many track world champions turn to the road. Mørkøv, Bos and of course Wiggo himself are the first ones I can think of.

Most of Denmark hadn't heard of Mørkøv. But then he wore the polka dot for a week and now he's one of the best known cyclists here.

Edit: realized I need to get back on topic

Could be. But lately he's been talking about focusing on becoming the best in the world at something. Sprinting, cobbles, whatever. He just needs to find out what he can excel in.

It seems he's on the road for good.
One of the reasons he chose Garmin was because they would allow him to do some track racing. Apparently you can earn points on the track aswell now: http://www.dr.dk/Sporten/Cykling/2013/05/28/223748.htm (Danish)

Dietern won last year here as well.

But yeah, Stölting is probably the best German team right now (NetApp and Argos don't cpunt). They deserve at least PC status. Only thing lacking is the money.

Anyone has an idea what's wrong with Ewan? Seems to be in no form at all here.

Today is going to be awesome, and I have honestly no idea who will be winning. My outsider bet Konrad hid well so far in the peloton, so he could be up there. Valgren is lurking around just behind the Top 10, so he's in a perfect position to attack.

It could be another bunch sprint. A cat 2 climb in Thüringen is usually little more than a hill.

Caleb is coming back from injury sustained in the 47 CREMONA CIRCUITO DEL PORTO back in May.

More about getting racing legs back and supporting the team here, having a dig if he has the legs, he also crashed in Stage one (as most did).

Moreover, he is only in his first u23 year and racings since the beginning of January. A low form would be even understandable without injuries.

Yeah, all the climbers in the race can't wait to lose their GC chances tomorrow. That's why we will have another sprint today.

Last year the queen stage was won by Danny van Poppel. Thüringen is rarely (if ever) a climber's race.

The stage van Poppel won last year was no MTF, so to compare both stages is completely pointless.

Neuhaus today is no Alpe d'Huez either, but it's a totally different stage.

It's not pointless, as it says something about how hard this race is, in terms of the parcours. The hills they use are always the same.

Stage 3 in progress.

If I understand this right we an intact peloton after 81km. No successful break at this point.

After 106km, gap 1 minute

51 Herklotz, Silvio * TST
104 Foliforov, Alexander RUS

Partly established on the last hill.

With 45km to go this will be very tough indeed.

24km left, gap just over 1 minute

60-70 riders about 10 minutes behind the main peloton.

edit: 12km left. Herklotz trying to drop Foliforov, now 15s

Gap 1:55 to peloton.

Could be a solo win.

Herklotz is incredibly strong. And one of the youngest riders in this race.

The time he might win today he will lose tomorrow, but who cares after such a performance.
