From the first post of the thread:

Not that I care much but that's how it was (supposed to be) in the 2012 CQ Game. It is of course up to Hugo to change this rule but if we play the 2013 Game with current rules Offredo would be unavailable

Got it. Should've done my research. No prob either way, rules have to be drawn up sometime and this one makes sense.

Update 37: skidmark is unstoppable

A pretty quiet week, and not much has happened in the top 10. FF'Wilco and Armchair cyclist swap positions, while MADRAZO is back in the top 10 after his free fall last week.

Top 10:

1. (1) skidmark - 17924
2. (2) Kvinto - 16700
3. (3) TeoSheva - 16371
4. (4) Nyssinator - 16347
5. (5) EvansIsTheBest - 16065
6. (7) FF'Wilco - 15698
7. (6) Armchair cyclist - 15594
8. (8) theyoungest - 15176
9. (9) mc_mountain - 14989
10 (14) MADRAZO - 14974

skidmark is of course still on top of the leaderboard, but it seems as though he was getting bored with that and decided to crush the competition, because he's the top scorer this week, further cementing his lead and he's now 1224 points clear of second placed Kvinto who also had a good week, scoring the 6th most points this week.

This week's top scorers:

1. skidmark - 591
2. jencredible - 549
3. Lortnoc - 514
4. MADRAZO - 505
5. EvansIsTheBest - 487

Obviously it wasn't possible for skidmark to earn a "triple crown" by topping all leaderboards. Instead it is Lortnoc who jumps the most places this week, mainly because of Felline, Boonen, Velits and Viviani.

This week's high jumpers:

1. Lortnoc +8
2. Michele +5
3. jencredible +4
3. MADRAZO +4
3. djlovesyou +4
3. The Cobra +4
3. DJ Sprtsch +4

Well a triple crown of sorts, after checking the aggregate scores for both years I realised skidmark's domination of this year meant i should check his score for 2011 (10653)- and he is well ahead!

skidmark - 28577
Waterloo Sunrise - 27679
mc_mountain - 27659
Armchair Cyclist - 27636

Well, I kind of like the website.

It's definitely the most suited to have the Grand Tour CQ games.

I agree though, that picking the riders for the main game through the website will be a bit of a hazard because of the Neo Pros and zero point riders.

If the Excel file can be downloaded from the website like this year, wouldn't mind having the game on excel.

Excel it is. I will provide others (Teo, Armchair etc) with an access so they can provide the excel download when Hugo is not around.

We can do the GT games online ... if there is enough interest.

Holy cow. I was pretty confident when I picked my team this year, and I think it was a real good team, but what luck has happened this year. It seems like everyone is healthy, and aside from the unfortunate incidents of Offredo and Pozzato, everything has come up roses. Only six riders not into profit, and two of my underperforming riders (Howard and Felline) seem to be coming into late season form... now watch Modolo somehow get into the Italian worlds team and have him and Haussler 1-2. You've gotta be good to be lucky to a certain extent, but you've gotta be lucky to be really lucky like I've been.

Seriously, with Phinney-Teejay getting 2nd and 4th yesterday, I think I'm feeling pretty safe to start feeling comfortable that I've got this. Strange things can always happen, but it would take some combo of all of my guys flailing late season plus something like a Betancur-Trentin 1-2 in the worlds and them and Anton going great guns in the late season for Kvinto to bridge the gap. Celebration time is near...

Lying steady around the 90-100 mark. But have gained insight into the game, and have already a good roster for next year (instead of this year, where I spent an hour or so selecting riders).

And not that it matters much, but for some reason the points for MINGUEZ AYALA Miguel have disappeared? 43 last year, 81 this year.

That has been fixed now - there was a space after his name, which was why.

Update 38: is it all over?

Ladies and gentlemen, we might have a winner. skidmark just continues to destroy the competition as he for the second week in a row is the top scorer! Impressive!

Let's have a look at the top 10 which bicing sneaks into, moving up from 12th to 9th. Meanwhile, theyoungest leaves the top 10 again and is now to be found just outside in 11th place.

Nyssinator is a new 3rd as he overtakes TeoSheva who didn't have the best of weeks.

Top 10:

1. (1) skidmark - 18645
2. (2) Kvinto - 17331
3. (4) Nyssinator - 16972
4. (3) TeoSheva - 16805
5. (6) FF'Wilco - 16237
6. (5) EvansIsTheBest - 16223
7. (7) Armchair cyclist - 16124
8. (9) mc_mountain - 15590
9. (12) bicing - 15565
10. (10) MADRAZO - 15551

Looking at this week's top scorers, we find, as mentioned, skidmark at the top, scoring 721 points thanks to Van Garderen, Phinney, Henao, Davis and Rui Costa. However, Kvinto defends himself very well as he takes a 4th place this week. Overall, the top teams interestingly score a lot of points: 4 of the top 5 top scorers this week are all among the top 10 overall.

This week's top scorers:

1. skidmark - 721
2. bicing - 705
3. gustienordic - 642
4. Kvinto - 631
5. Nyssinator - 625

Scoring the 3rd most points this week, gustienordic wins the high jumper award this week, as he moves up 12 places from 42nd to 30th and is also the highest placed overall of those in this week's high jumpers list.

This week's high jumpers:

1. gustienordic +12
2. the asian +7
2. Sasquatch +7
4. Tomazo +6
5. Karbonkel +5
5. vladimir +5
5. fedaia +5

The competition is stiff near the top--my team was 15th on the week and yet I still slipped one place--from 11th to 12th!

Incidentally, I was looking through the spreadsheet and started wondering which team had the "best worst rider." In other words, if you look at each rider's score as a percentage of his score last year and then take the rider with the lowest percentage on each team, then which team has the rider with the highest percentage?

I looked at the top 70 teams, so I might have missed someone, but it appears that the current leader is Squire, whose "worst" rider is at 64%.

Next come Jpettersen, Ferminal, and CasperVG at 45%.

One of those rare days where I feel quite pleased with a few picks - Kroon, Vaugrenard and Vanmarcke all in the possibly decisive break in Franco-Belge.

Now that is how to jinx someone. Broken collarbone for Vanmarcke, Vaugrenard loses eight minutes. I fear for Kroon tomorrow...

Clarke, Quintana and Costa get me some minor points. Riders i considered at the start of the year included Santambrogio and Kessiakoff but i thought Santambrogio would have to work for leaders and Kessiakoff i liked after Austria but could not fit him in anywhere.

I tried to get Henao in but i was told i was over the limit with my riders (some of my values were wrong- but i did not know where) but if i got rid of Henao it would match with the correct values.

33 for 7500 :) :) :) Now I just hope none of them score points for the remainder of the season  By the way hugo will it still be 33 max 25 min and 7500 points?

Hugo will most likely release all the rules and figures for next year's game quite soon. He opened last year's thread quite early.
