It doesn't matter, if Hugo wins, we know he cheated

Seriously though, I think we trust Hugo to select his own team and not be influenced by other teams he sees, even if he is it's nothing serious.

I wouldn't even care if everyone's teams were public, that would mean that it's more about analytical skills than trawling through the CQ list and not missing any gems.

Honestly, I have probably spend more time on CQ Ranking than anyone else, so if I win that's obviously the reason why :D

Nah, truth be told I'm pretty sure that I won't win. I understand the concern that I could potentially just create a team of the most popular riders picked, but I'm not gonna do that, and I can give you nothing else but my guarantee.
I of course do want to do well in the game and would love to win, but I'm not gonna do all this work just to "cheat" my way to victory - I have more pride than that ;)

I like to pick riders whom I cheer for and enjoy watch riding. I have atleast one rider whom I think would be a good pick but I'm not gonna chose him, simply because I don't like him. Of course it's not a popularity contest by any means, but I just think the game is more enjoyable for me if riders I like do well.

I agree! That's the approach I have taken this time. I have a couple of picks who are definitely not going to make a profit, but having them in my CQ team will make me enjoy their successes even more.

I have cut my shortlist down to 33 riders worth 7480 now, but I won't submit it yet. Father Vicioso could still get more colleagues ;)

Should be fun and another way to loss a few hours.

Edit and to ask a stupid question - The aim is to have a rider to gain CQ points - so Gilbert would have to have a better season than last year to gain points ?

Well, I'm not gonna pick riders I think have a hard time gaining a profit; I still aim to do as well as possible.

Yeah, I have my team almost sorted out as well. Although transfers, injuries and bans of course could change this.

I have 49 riders in my shortlist, and another 25 youngsters and unsigned riders I am waiting on to see the final signings.

My most expensive certain pick - 500-something price
My cheapest certain pick - I have 2 zero point riders

And I am not picking Gilbert.

Got my list down to 65 now, just need to pick the right half of the remainder now!

I'm sure I've missed some great picks, but also think I've got the odd decent one in there.

Wow, Samu scored the exact same points as 2010, which is just 8 less than 2009.

Ultra consistency :D

I think I've seen at least 2 more riders that have exactly copied their 2010 result as well. I guess with so many riders it's bound to happen from time to time.

There are 2 pricey riders that I want to add to my team for 2012. But I still need to fill 12 more slots, and with the points I have left to spare, I'm gonna have to move out one of those riders to break even. Or maybe I can work something to include them both.

Well, if you're desparate then it is possible to fill 12 spots with less than 100 points if you gamble a little with newbies. You just have to find next years Guardini or Haas etc.

That's what I've been trying to do. I've been crunching numbers and last night, I found a way to keep them both. But yeah, like you said, I need to spot some cheap buys that'll really come through for me next year.

The hard part for me is finding riders worth more than 400 points that I have faith in for next year. Gonna be a real crapshoot to get the right ones.

yeah. IMO that is the key (of course you need to make some good lower picks, but I find that less hard, in fact I find myself spoiled with choice). My two most expensive guys I am pretty skeptical about...

Really good point. I have 10-11 to choose from and can fit about 4-6 in my team. Most of my riders are under 200.

Havetts I'd say that the 500 riders are still good to go with, 600 is getting a bit risky and 700's is dangerous. For example with my team Cunego was 600's and was a revelation whereas Anton and Roche were disasters.

Yeah, I agree. I have a bunch of pretty cheap riders but it's hard to find that many decent riders with a high value.

I'm sure I could make a better team if the budget was 3000 :D
