I chose not to add him given the fact that I only expected him to break even, or just be short of his 2011 score. I didn't see him improving his 2011 significantly.

I think if Cav had left he could have got a stage in the last part of the Giro. However Cav wants to go all the way so yeah.

Damn I kept forgetting 1T4I were Pro Conti when I was picking my team. Degenkolb is not the buy I thought he was. Pretty stupid mistake, I'll admit.

I wanted to get Gretsch on my team, but ended up not getting him for the reason that his team is ProConti.

Well, for a rider like Gretsch I don't think pro conti is a drawback. He is more likely to be able to get a GC placement in a smaller stage race at proconti level due to his ITT. Though I would prefer if he was better at defending a lead in climbs etc.

When I saw the article title this morning I almost had a heart-attack. Last season he was always "there" for many races but almost always couldnt finish it with a top 5 placement. Hopefully he can get some better results this year and he wont be too distracted with the track BS. Glad that only one other team has Kluge as he was one of those picks I chose for "unique pick" reasons.

It depends how many chances he will get since they also have Kittel and Degenkolb and I don't think a team like 1t4i rides that many tripple programs.

Last season he was even also leading out Tom Veelers in some races, so I also doubt he will get many chances to ride for himself.

Yep, as expected. Most people around here, including the reining champ dont take him seriously and that was my goal :D

At 170 points not a big risk ... you never know ... Kittel goes down in his first race and Kluge is the new protected sprinter :p

Hm, not that cheap either, though, for a third choice sprinter on a Pro-Conti team. The fact that his results were affetced by the missed tests last season woorks in your favour, though.

My TDU team:

Michael Rogers
Adam Blythe
Lulu Sanchez
Mark Renshaw
Wilco Kelderman

Rather slim, and Blythe is my only rider present who isn't madly popular. My TDU was very good last year, with Cam Meyer and Matthews scoring me a bucketload of points. Renshaw will be intruiging, now he can ride for himself, and he has people like Brown, Matthews and Leezer who could do a decent leadout for him. Lulu and Rogers could do well overall, but almost everyone has them as well... :(

All in all, I expect to have a middling TDU.

On a side note I read Bobridge is apparantly out of the race with a fractured wrist. Could be that GE will select Allan Davis in his place, who I have. Was surpried he didn't make the cut in the first place. Also, what gives with Saxo not selecting Porte?

Some sort of technicality not letting them because he doesn't have a contract with them anymore :D Sky wouldn't have picked him because he's going to be on the same program as Wiggins.

Davis is looking further ahead in the season. With Goss and Gerrans they have enough leaders, and Howard/McEwen are there to sprint if Goss isn't up to speed. Gerrans makes Davis fairly redundant.

He rides for SKY now Guess that is a good reason for Saxo not sending him ;)

Wow... Can't a guy make a 2011 nostalgic slip of the tongue anymore? :p

My point remains though, he wasn't selected.

It could be that TDU will be quite important for Blythe (and those who have him in their CQ ranks). He will need to establish that he is a better bet in straight forward sprints to Hushovd (and even GVA or Gilbert himself) and is worthy of a degree of support from these stars of the team. it may well be that this means that he receives dom support in some instances that the stars might have expected themselves rather than the stars actually working for him. (seems he is on very friendly terms with Gilbert, but that wont matter much if Gilbert thinks he is the better bet for the win).

Although its unlikely he'll get the same kind of points from the GC that Swift got last year, but a good performance could kick start his season the same way and that he can hopefully follow up in Oman and Qatar.

On the other hand if he is nowhere in the spints (or if they try to get Ballan boni seconds in the sprint stages) it could be an earlier indicator that he's not going to be a great pick.

For me I thought he was good value at 406 last year so feel i should stick with him.
