Update 2: along came a spider!

With the Tour Down Under started the season has finally really started. However, we have one small update before big points are handed out.
This week Spider1964 has taken the lead. With Porte, Rogers, Durbridge and Hepburn on his team he scored 114 points to take over the 1st place. just some guy had a very bad week but is still in 2nd place!

A total of 20 teams have yet to earn any points so it's quite easy to see who has faith in the Australians and who doesn't.

On a different note a few teams are probably fearing the seriousness of a couple of rider's crashes. The most serious injury was that of Roelandts as he suffers from a fractured cervical vertebra. A total of 4 people have included Roelandts in their team, including our 2nd place holder, just some guy.

But I dont have Gerrains, and I think he is looking pretty good for overall, so I dont think I will even last out the week LOL

I had decided I was taking either Sabatini or Guarnieri, plumped for Guarnieri and who gets off to the flying start  Surprised me only one person has him - I thought he had good potential to breakthrough and score 400+
Wise decision

With basso, nibali for gt + stage races preparing and sagan, viviani, oss all who have much greater priority than sabatini this may be the only time we see him allowed to have any semblance of freedom

Depends, if he goes well early season he may get other opportunities. Look at Matthews last year - got off to a flyer and as a result was given leadership at other races. If he'd struggled early on chances are he'd have been stuck fetching bottles or leading out other sprinters.

As with most riders - we'll see!

Dang, looks like I'll have to put off my TOTAL DOMINANCE of the game until next week then.

Correct ... thats about 100 points including the leaders jersey so just 20 more WT stage wins or 1100 points just to break even

You could also argue that he has only "won" 50 points, as he had 50 points at this time of the year last year.

Though if he continues to double in every race, that's a pretty good season of course :D

I am not entirely convinced he has the acceleration to beat some of the really big sprinters and I'm possibly regretting selecting him for my team.

Im regretting not selecting him.

My chief advisor El Pistolero strongly recommended him and I had him in the team for a very long time.

But when having to get rid of one of Mark, Richie Porte, Duarte, Betancur and Pozzato.

I chose Renshaw because I felt he wouldnt neccesarily get into the high hundreds which I feel all the others had the potential to do.

But not all of them will go into the hundreds. It was a sacrificial move. Renshaw is less likely to fail than the others since he has taken a step up into leadership, but I felt he had the least chance of a huge payoff so let him go but now I think, maybe he will get loads of podiums in big stages and just rank up em points.

That's exactly why I chose him. He'll get to sprint for himself in the Giro ánd in the Tour, I don't expect him to win any stages but surely he'll get into the top 5 quite a few times.

However, my best pick for this season is of course Oscarito Freire.

Probably. Only 6 people have him............ I don't know what everyone else was thinking.

I don't regret not picking Renshaw.... yet. A 5th place in a Tour stage is still only 15 points. He won't have much of a lead out, anyway. Don't discount the Rabo factor.
