Hmm, I've won both stages of Paris-Nice, but I don't feel satisfied. Odd. I guess it's because Tejay was my only GC rider that made the split (I can't realistically expect more than 4th place with Wiggins, Leip and Valv), and my hopes of picking up even some good minor GC placings are in danger with Porte losing 11 minutes... oh well, at least the semi-expensive Taylor Phinney picked up his first point of the season, finally. Woo 8th place on the stage!

That's one more than I've got.
TJ should bring in a triple figure score, come Sunday.
Realistically, I think he's one of four fighting for the podium.

I had TJ year when he failed to break even.

Here is my humble effort at an Update 9.

Wow, thanks Lortnoc! Good, fast update. I wish I knew how to attach to a PM but I don't.

Congrats on holding the top 10 and even improving. Holy crap Reuell, and way to go Hugo! I'd imagine I got slightly displaced out of the top 10 due to my average week, but a week in the top 10 was nice and I intend to be back...

Glad to see we have others that are trying to help with the updates. My job is up for grab if anybody can handle websites with SQL/MySQL database. Let me know!

Otherwise, the updated ranking is up http://cqmanager.net/rankings/

Edit: If shalgo wants to share the Excel file, PM for me private email and I will put it in the upload section ....

After today, my only riders who haven't scored a point are Pozzato, Majka, Landa, Di Luca and Davis. Pozzato is understandable and hopefully his insanely quick comeback will help him get into form for the big classics. The next 3 are all in T-A (I think Di Luca is? At least he finally signed). But Davis? What the hell? I start to worry that his problems last year were not that he wasn't getting support at Astana, but rather that he's just past his prime. Getting pulled from the Paris-Nice startlist is not a good way to work towards your main early season goal of Milan-San Remo. Anyone else who has Davis getting worried?

So, I was busy today, but when I looked to the results of PN, I saw that my second/third rate GC men made the split.

Spilak, Kiserlovski, Jeannesson.

I expected to get some points from Menchov and Brajkovic through the GC, but I guess this works as well.

Back to the top 30, still going good.

Paris-Nice: Tom Boonen, Richie Porte, Rigoberto Uran, Igor Anton, Kris Boeckmans, Gustav Erik Larsson

Tirreno-Adriatico: Roman Kreuziger, Filippo Pozzato, Gerald Ciolek, Gert Steegmans, Paul Martens, Yaroslav Popovych, Rafal Majka, Stijn Devolder, Alessandro Ballan, Juan Antonio Flecha

But I think i've got a bit too much classic riders. Only Igor Anton, Roman Kreuziger, Rigoberto Uran, José Rujano, Jurgen Van den Broeck as GC contenders. (and Rafal Majka, Richie Porte, Michael Rogers but I don't expect much from these guys.) Don't know if that is enough later in the season. We'll see. ;)

Thanks to Shalgo for the Excel update which is now available online at http://cqmanager.net/download/

Edit: after doing all these updates I finally had a moment to look closer and to my surprise I noticed that I slipped out of the Top 100 :(
Well, most of my boys are not even racing yet or are just starting this/next week ...

5th consecutive week in the top 10
Not sure how long it will last with Offredo sidelined for the rest of the season and not much points for Paris-Nice on the horizon. Hopefully my team at Tirreno will rack up the GC points.
Paris-Nice : Larsson, Boonen, Sicard, Anton, LL Sanchez, Spilak, Voigt, Maaskant, Lloyd
Tirreno : Kreuziger, M. Iglinskiy, Pozzato, Pinot, Vaugrenard, Nibali, Velits

Well you've got the 2 stage winners so far.
And Spilak should top 5 at least

I don't know if I'd make such a bold pronouncement about Spilak, there are about 7 riders that were in the break (Wiggins, Valv, Leipheimer, TJVG, Kiserlovski, Monfort and even Chavanel) that I'd rate ahead of Spilak generally, and we haven't really seen what his climbing is like this year, aside from finishing in a large group a few seconds back at Andalucia. It's entirely possible that he loses enough time on the uphill stages that someone who wasn't in the break finishes ahead of him. Or, it's possible that there are more echelons tomorrow too. Either way, I figure he could finish anywhere from 5th-30th, really. Paris-Nice is unpredictable sometimes, as evidenced today.

Spilak: top 5?
I wish.
Great in 2010, but nowhere in 2011.
I gambled on him, but I'll be happy with top 10-15.

Reuell scored 791 points, last week?
I didn't think that was possible.
With my P-N rabble, I could go from 1st, straight out of the top 10.

The most impressive thing about it was that he did it not with one rider scoring 400 points, but with nobody scoring more than 139:

Demare 139
Quintana 136
Rujano 130
Guardini 100
Cancellara 80
Bauer 58
Larsson 50
Iglinsky 48
Hoogerland 38
Rowe 12

i wouldnt worry too much, now your avatar and Porte are down on the general classification there arent going to be too many teams scoring big from the GC at Paris Nice.

there'll also have been 5 stages at Tirreno by the next CQ update...

Yesterday Larsson, and today Boonen. I still need to check with of the riders I had which had a chance for GC made the split.

It was good that when I was watching the race, my CQ team disappointment was by far washed away by my love of exciting racing (or rather, 'race developments' as the racing in itself wasn't too wild, just the echelons). So nice to have the real season underway.

Glad that you enjoyed the race.
However you do have 2 stage wins 100 points and TJVG could podium so you are going better than most.

Larsson victory has already been taken into acccount in the last update and everybody has Boonen. As for Spilak, a top 5 seems difficult but hopefully a top 10, for the rest it's going to be participation points... At least, the riders that are going to sweep the GC (Wiggins, Valverde, Leipheimer, Chavanel...) aren't that popular so thanks to the echelon, I won't lose as many points as I first thought.

I seriously thought I'd rise some in the rankings, turns out I've gained one mere place. Damnit!

I had a really good 2 weeks. Just hope I can keep this form running until after PN and TA.
