The 2012 CQ Ranking Manager Game

Not bad week for a 'transition' week - got the win with my only rider in the HC race (Moser), with Phinney in pink and a decent showing from Landa in the 2.1 race (41 points overall aint bad). The Giro should be interesting, I've got:

Phinney (obviously proven his worth already)
Kreuziger (big hope for podium in this weak field)
Henao (wild card, but could do top 20 for sure)
Brandle (solid all-rounder but won't do much more than collect 20 points for finishing, unless winning from a break)
Modolo (who knows, his sprinting is erratic)
Battaglin
Felline
Pozatto (all 3 could win hilly selective stages or from a break)
Larsson (good for final TT, decent overall usually)
Demare (hopefully he'll do well in sprints at which he's not held up by a crash)

Could move up, but there's not much room to do so, and the teams at the top are pretty solid.

I think there might be an error in the rankings. It says that I am 3rd with 8466, even though I only have about ~7200 points.:p

Yeah. It says I'm 25th. I strongly doubt I managed to get enough points to move up from 25+ spots.

Are you looking at Giro game standings? There you are 26th. At the CQ Manager game I see you as 59th ...

When Hugo will post the report and excel, please note that there will be discrepancies between the excel file and our website as the website is already including points from today's Giro stage 3!

Points for me are going to come when the mountains come in the Giro. Belletti has been non-existent in the previous two stages.

Had some minor points from Demare/ Renshaw. I am however thinking that one of the 2 could nab a stage soon so i am maintaining hope and also waiting for the mountains with Kreuziger and Basso.

Moser this week can hopefully boost me a bit.

Congrats Teo for still scoring well ( also Phinney will most likely keep red for a while longer- unless if something bad happens ).

First race of Stybar and already close to 100% :)
160 points for him!

We need to figure out our new ranking system because I dont think all of the points from CQ rankings are quite equal.

I like Stybar and all that but for example I dont think Dunkerque is a race that deserve to award same number of points as California. They are both HC rank races and yet California is 8 stages VS 5 stages. Cali has bunch of hills but most importantly the field quality in Dunkerque is not comparable with California or other HC rated races.

Please, don't steer away from CQ. It's a simple system, and it works. When picking your team you also have to keep in mind what kind of racing calendar your riders are going to have, as that will affect their scores.

No worries, I'm not changing anything ... after all this is not even my game and I even feel like a hijacker who took away Hugo's toy

I can agree with you, but, believe me, it's not easy to do in a different way. I organize another fantasy cycling game, and I try to make the things as equal as possible: I consider just some races, only those with more than 3 PT teams and at least 7 professional team... but also like this is not fair sometimes...

The roles are know, this is what counts. I picked guys like Stybar knowing that he can do well in this kind of races (like he did the last year) and I thinks the same is for riders like Serpa that wins race like Langkawi or Guardini winning mainly there...

For once I agree with hrotha. Although I must admit that Dunkerque seems to be rated a bit too high. I was actually expecting 30ish points for Ruijgh's 9th place but it ended up being 48 points. (Or 49, can't remember)

I apologize for the late, and short, update but I'm very busy these days, unfortunately.

Update 18: all quiet on the cycling front

With only a few races this week, not much has changed in the standings. The top 5, who are now all in profit, is intact and in the top 10 only one new team is represented - MADRAZO - on the cost of Kazistuta who drops from 10th to 13th.

Top 10

1. (1) TeoSheva - 8252
2. (2) EvansIsTheBest - 7929
3. (3) Mellow Velo - 7794
4. (4) Kvinto - 7698
5. (5) skidmark - 7614
6. (7) Netserk - 7409
7. (8) Nyssinator - 7337
8. (6) AntonioRossi - 7296
9. (9) lancaster - 7212
10. (12) MADRAZO - 7104

Looking at the high scorers and high jumpers, it's worth noticing that none of these teams aren't exactly battling it out for a top place. mc_mountain is the highest placed of these teams in 30th place while the top scorer, the asian, is currently sitting in 86th place. With Phinney, Castroviejo, Stybar, Moser, Landa and Quintana, the asian had a very impressive week, though.

This weeks high scorers

1. the asian - 496
2. FF'Wilco - 458
3. Geraint Too Fast - 403
4. vladimir - 395
5. mc_mountain - 375

This weeks high jumpers

1. FF'Wilco +14
2. the asian +9
2. jsem94 +9
4. vladimir +8
4. mc_mountain +8
