This year I found it risky to pick neo-pros.. some like Demare paid off, but in general the risk is too great. That if you want to do really well, I do not know if they are the way to go. I believe Skidmark only had 3 or so on his winning team this year..

I dunno, depends on your strategy. For example, if you got one real expensive guy that you were sure would pay off something good, that would clear it up to take a chance on a bunch of cheap neo-pros. The scattershot approach would be bound to get you some good results. But yeah, it is risky (and maybe kinda fun) to put alot in one expensive guy.

For the record, I definitely had more than 3 neo-pros; off the top of my head, there was Henao, Demare, Kelderman, Durbrige, Moser, Hepburn, Battaglin. This year... well, I honestly have no idea yet. But probably if I take a more expensive guy than my modest 532 point top pick last year, it'll clear up some room for neo-pros.

I already know who is going to be the most picked rider this year, he's only worth 20 points but I hear he's suppose to be a pretty good climber. Too bad he only cares about a couple races.

yep. The downside of this game is having riders you dislike on your team, if you want to win..

Even as a Norwegian I really don't like Thor, but he is excellent value for next season nevertheless. So he is in my first draft, but might be dropped to get in more young talents. I also considered an old australian TDF winner after ditching Spartacus to get below 7500, but luckily found a more likeable option:D

Thor is a possiblity.. but I just get the feeling he is gone.

Even so he still could easily double his score even if he is "gone" so to speak..

Don't you hate it when a target rider doubles their score in November...

Majka! went from 94 points to 260! Stupid Tour of Beijing and Japan Cup :(.

He may be past his prime but still a good pick, he has the potential to get anywhere from 800 to over a 1000 points.

He tried to win the race by making sure Cancellara could not attack so much, so he could then beat him in the sprint. Why would he pull when he had JHVS up the road?
It's not about last year. It's about every year. He is the most pathetic cobble rider I have ever seen, compared to his strength.

Agree with Netserk - I really don't like him because of the way he rides. I won't include him in my team either. If I was sure that he was gonna score a lot of points - well, you can never be entirely sure - I probably would. But I think there's a decent chance that he'll have a dissapointing season again and the last thing I would want is to have Thor in my team if he's gonna fail :D

Verdammt! My first "final draft" ended up at 7922 points and that's even with 10 riders costing less than 100 points!

Back to the drawing board, but I guess this means I'll have to give up on at least one of my more expensive picks - that sucks!

I thought it would be easy to get under the 7500 mark this year with so many top riders underperforming/out with injuries this year, but I also struggle.
But as this is the name dropping thread; I think this was quite disapponting Hugo. You should at least hint at some names if posting in this thread:D:D

Yeah, I find it very difficult as well; there are a lot of riders that I want to pick, who I think would be good picks, but just can't.

Many top riders are struggling, but I haven't picked them because they're mostly old/past their best and won't get better results. Btw I've already finished/sent my list, but I haven't put that much work in it, that way it it doesn't matter if the results are bad :D
