The 2013 CQ Ranking Manager Game

We really haven't done particularly well collectively at this.

Given that the basic premise of the game is pick riders who will score more points than they did the previous year, by that criterion we have largely failed.

24 teams have 16 or less riders (i.e. less than half the allowable squad) in profit individually, and only 4 teams, 3% of us, managed a 75%+ hit rate (Geraint and Will10 with 25 riders, The Amateur and Vladimir topping them with 26).

It would be hilarious if Farrar ended up being the rider that won the game for Geraint Too Fast. :p

I mean if Geraint ended up winning due to some late season points that ended up coming from Farrar.

Don't know if that would even be possible. Not gonna bother to check it out.

I picked Gilbert this year. I'm regretting it big time. Question is, should he be picked at all for next yet.

Nope. This is his standard level after he came off the **ehmmm.welll* after 2011.

Plus add to this BMC horrendous training schemes etc. I doubt he'll be worth it.

He'd be a good pick if he comes back to his 2009/10 level.

That's not really surprising is it?

2012: F-W podium, two Vuelta stages and Worlds.
2013: No Ardennes podium, one Vuelta stage and ninth in Worlds.

The difference is the worlds course, nothing else.

The 2012 Worlds was the best course Gilbert could possibly dream of, on his favourite hill in the world and everyone waited for it. The 2013 one was significantly harder, maybe good enough for 2011 Gilbert but out of his goldilocks zone and he still finished st as the other best none mountain climbers.

If one takes out the worlds Gilbert 2013 actually has a not insignificantly higher cq score than Gilbert 2012.

Having said that, Gilbert apparently rode more race km than anyone else this season so that may inflate his score I suppose.

Still 2012 and 2013 looks roughly equal to me, this year just has a slightly worse score due to the location of the wc.

But considering how well he did in the worlds and the quite good form he had for a while in the vuelta, he's still a pick that brings the potential for more points just by picking the right race. Maybe he wont needlessly do the tour again next year. And the worlds does suit him more.

Majka at 773 points, 297% :):)

Farrar will race Paris-Tours, so it could be possible.

:( I had him last year/ was happy he improved from 2011- then he goes even better
