Despite the fact of starting the game eight riders down, fraserhughes' remaining players were able to earn him an impressive move of 60 places, whereby he is also this week's highest mover, closely followed by olopaine, highoctane, al_pacino, ironsscally.

Whoop, whoop.

Mostly down to Betancur - he was 75% of my points this week - though Andy Schleck did got me 5 points

Was hoping Pirazzi and Voeckler might have got some points but hey ho.

Also, I've just noticed David VEILLEUX is in my spreadsheet twice! Not sure how that happened, could the person doing the next update fix?

Shouldn't mess things up as he's not scored yet :rolleyes:

On 11 September 2013, he announced his retirement from professional cycling, claiming he wanted to continue his studies in mechanical engineering at Laval University and to start a family.

I'll admit I obviously missed that when I picked him, thought he was a promising pick after last yeas Dauphine.

Actually, might as leave on the sheet - he's not going to get any points!

Plenty of fun facts about this update. The top 2 of last year is the same top 2 than this year after Paris-Nice. Geraint Too Fast is the first to lead the game in two separate years. SteelyDan may well accomplish the very same feat no later than next week if Degenkolb performs well in MSR, which I am hoping will happen since I am one of the 6 people who picked the German.

Here is how this year's best players perform against previous years for the update immediately following Paris-Nice :
1 Mellow Velo (2012) 2836
2 Geraint Too Fast (2014) 2699
3 EvansIsTheBest (2012) 2651
4 SteelyDan (2014) 2545
5 Pcutter (2011) 2621
6 microdose (2011) 2599
7 hrotha (2012) 2573
8 TeoSheva (2012) 2561
9 mc_moutain (2012) 2532
10 Timmy-loves-Rabo (2012) 2506

13 skidmark (2012) 2488 (highest year-end total ever)

That Bruce Springsteen song going through my mind for days now: "I'm going down down down down, I am going down down down ..........." Down to 20th now which is better than I feared after a bad week (185 P). However, I have some hope to visit top ten again after next week with Contador being on my team.

Nice, I like that you're into the multi-year comparisons. Those are always interesting to look at.

Interesting to note that GTF and SteelyDan's teams are built in a way such that they're likely to get heaps of points in a given week, depending on which of their big guys are scoring. I think we should see them in top positions this year, and then a lull for a few weeks, and then rocket back up (unless, of course, they stay on top the whole year, yikes).

This week:

Nokere Korese and Handzame Classic

Craddock (expecting nothing; he's just a neo-pro being blooded by filling out the Belgian race roster)

Italian 1.1 race with way too long name

Howson (see Craddock above with 'Italian' switched for 'Belgian')

Loire Atlantique and GP Cholet

Coppel (unlikely)

That means all my eggs are in the same basket at...

MILAN SAN REMO!!!

Brajkovic
Aru
Phinney
Moser
Vanendert
Boonen
Goss
Boasson Hagen
Contador (? he's on the PCS start list)
Teklehaimanot
Battaglin

possibly Sam Bennett, Daniele Colli and Johan Le Bon as well (and possibly not Brajko and Aru since the latter hasn't raced really at all, and the former is also down for Catalunya the next day)

I'm really Hoping for something from Phinney and Boasson Hagen... obviously Boonen is a fave (although not if Cav gets over the hills) and Goss has won before, but both are picked by so many that it won't make a difference. Obviously if Battaglin can make it the distance that would be great, but there's no reason to think he will. Could be a great day, could be an awful day. We shall see.

Good day for me. 4th place for Steegmans on Nokere-Koerse, poor guy almost got caught on the finish, (only on 6 teams, already profitable) and first points of the season for Jetse Bol.

Nice team for MSR based on the first "official" start list:

GILBERT Philippe
BOASSON HAGEN Edvald
PHINNEY Taylor
MOSER Moreno
FELLINE Fabio
BATTAGLIN Enrico
ROSA Diego
APPOLLONIO Davide
VANENDERT Jelle
LUTSENKO Alexey

I think 300 points should be a realistic target for this lot, but if all goes according to plan it's possible to double that:D

So what are the riders that are picked by a decent ammount of people that can go well in MSR? Some people might say EBH, but he always struggles with distance. I guess some people picked Phinney, he got 7th last year, but last year was a very weird edition of course, so who knows what he'll do this year. Anyway, my team is crappy:

MSR
LUTSENKO Aleksey
MOSER Moreno
WACKERMANN Luca
GALLOPIN Tony
VANENDERT Jelle
BENNATI Daniele
JUNGELS Bob

Bennati ftw :p

I had a strong team for M-S and was looking forward to it but now Phinney, Boonen and Gerrans all out. Really sucks - three top ten contenders gone.

Phinney and now Gerrans are out... This means my uniue pick Pozzato have to surprise everyone and get a very good result. I also have some young guys like Sutterlin, Dayer Q. , Lutsenko for this but I don't have big hopes from them. Guardini is also in my team but I'm not sure he can pass the hills.
