You are correct of course. To make matters worse, I was already looking at the KOM and points jerseys, and I had already calculated the points I would score from the GC and remaining stages. And now he's lost it all! :)

How has Froome disappointed? He put 1'20" into Bardet yesterday. I'd say he's doing as expected.

OK, now I'd say he hasn't dissapointed :D

Prior to today, one could argue that he dissapointed if you expected him to beat Contador. He surely didn't look too good compared to Contador yesterday.

Exactly 350 points. Not too bad but not good either, I expected more from Porte and Alberto. Beforehand I said I'd be happy with 100 points for Alberto, but after stage 3 I kind of expected the full 110 points + stage points.
Only 5 points in Oman is disappointing but I didn't have many potential scorers.
Hivert looking good and also happy with what Moser and Stybar have shown so far.
Many of my riders (Reinardt, Ruffoni, Blythe, Ratto, Stybar) keep finishing just out of scoring range on stages which is unfortunate.
Now I am hoping Alberto can step up, he scored more this year in Andalucia than last year in Algarve, so I'm really hoping for a combined 600-700 points in Tirreno and Catalunya (two wins would be a dream ;)) to set things up nicely for the Giro and Tour. Hopefully he'll do a race in between Giro and Tour to score an extra 100-150 points (or even 200-300 if he decides to go Dauphine/Suisse).

Only rider scoring good for me so far Cavendish. Pretty good showing from Fernandez. Soler is in profit, first points for Foliforov.
Sagan is not bad, but not scoring big either. EBH is disappointing so far.

After my team's effort in Oman, Gabon, France and Spain I wonder if my top-10 position last week wasn't a one-off affair. So many race days and I wonder if I even have 200 points.

Well, if it makes you feel better. I never even considered him and looking back I don't know why, as he's exactly the kind of rider I'm always looking for.

On a more positive note: Jungels scored already >65% of his meager 240 points last year and Meintjes is looking good as well so far. Can't wait for the season to kick off next week with the Omloop.

Update #7: Froome Fans Fly High, Unique Pick Wins the Week

Given the amount of riders in action and points to be had, one can't help but feel that the number of points scored this week was somewhat modest - no fewer than 5 stage races ranked 2.1 and 2.HC, alongside the 1.HC Laigueglia, and the highest points scorer is 444 - certainly a good score, but not even the highest of the year despite having by far the most riders in action.

Part of that was that top spots in races were dominated by unpopular riders - four of the stage race winners (Ben Gastauer, Rafaa Chtioui, Rafael Valls, Geraint Thomas) were picked by a grand total of zero teams, and Laigueglia winner Cimolai was picked by one team (Trudgin, who got no help from the rest of their team and finished 67th on the week). Obvious beneficiaries this week were the 36 teams that picked Chris Froome. Yet it was a non-Froome team, propelled by a high-scoring unique pick (Gavazzi, 84 points from second in Laigueglia) that topped the rankings. afpm90 had a strong team effort this week, with 5 riders getting over 50 points (Gavazzi, Porte, Intxausti, Hivert and Edgar Pinto) and a total of 444 points. Ludwig_ leads the Froome brigade in 2nd, and many of the other top scorers contain him on the team (146 points go a long way in weeks like this).

This Week's Top Scorers

Rank Team Points this week
1 afpm90 444
2 Ludwig_ 419
3 comodoro 400
4 just some guy 397
5 topprak 393

The high movers list is unsurprisingly similar, as most of the teams with Froome had some ground to gain with their most expensive pick just starting his season.

Rank Team Up/down
1 Ludwig_ (+35)
2 topprak (+34)
2 comodoro (+34)
4 LaVelocipede (+31)
5 afpm90 (+28)

The green jersey competition is becoming quite fun - with the week's win (combined with a top 5 a few weeks ago), afpm90 moves into first place despite barely cracking the top 100 overall; this was what was hoped for from this competition, to have a competition that did more than restate the top of the overall rankings. ingsve moves up into 2nd overall in this competition after scoring in the top 15 for an impressive 4th week in the 7 this competition has been running. We are at the point of the competition where a week's win will only get you into a tie for 10th overall; it is starting to reward repeated showings.

Points Competition Standings

Rank Team Points

8 Kjellus 47
9 DJ Sprtsch 46
10 jeroenk 45
10 Vesica 45
10 the asian 45
10 Zam_Olyas 45

And in the overall, some change to be sure - the only position in the top 10 that did not move is leader trackstand, who actually slightly increased his lead over his nearest rivals with a solid if unspectacular 32nd on the week. Leaving the top 10 are our 9th and 10th of the past week, blues in the bottle and ansimi, and rocketing into the top 10 are Jeroenk (from 11th to 4th) and Just Some Guy, leaping an impressive 17 spots to 7th overall.

Just a maintenance round for me really. Froome and Porte kept me in position but that was about it.
Disappointing Green mountain stage from Cam Meyer drop me a bunch of rare points that could have pushed me up.

I have to consider my week a success; I was worried despite my decent results that it wouldn't be much relative to the competition, but I managed to move up two places to 6th, which I'm pretty happy with. With non-picked riders sweeping up the highest points at most races, Hivert scoring almost 100 points and nearly breaking even satisfies me - he seemed like the type of rider who was a bit out of his league (and not really supported) at the higher-level Belkin races; being a leader at a PCT team seems right his speed. But I actually knew little about him so it was more of a 'he looks like he could score points so I don't want to miss out' kind of pick, which I always hate when they go wrong.

Patrick Konrad was aggressive in getting bonus seconds, tactically astute to stay in the front group on stage 2, and then had enough in the mountains for 10th place on GC and 44 points. I'll take it; costing 193 points and with a whole season to go with a PCT team who lost their 2 main GC guys (Konig and Machado), there's a good chance he'll get alot of opportunities.

I already mentioned that I'm satisfied with McLay's 30 points from Gabon, but more encouraged by him getting his first win as a pro; a similar thinking holds for Foliforov finishing 15th in a pretty talented Andalucia field - he was ostensibly working for Firsanov, but only finished 2 spots behind him, which is a good sign for the future. With RusVelo, all it takes is for him to line up at something like Azerbaijan or even Hainan at the end of the year with a reduced field and take 100 points to be a good pick. But this shows he can hang with the better riders on some tough early season climbs.

The lone stain on the week is Rodriguez - not time to hit the panic button yet, but you'd expect him to be somewhere in Oman. Even in previous years when he was just stretching the legs, that meant a top 10 or a stage win. Other anonymous performances, notably EBH, get me a little worried but I'm willing to wait it out. Sagan could have used that stage that got cancelled, he needs a first win and it was his kind of stage. Brajko did nothing in Andalucia, but his blog said he's aiming for a few things down the road so I'm not worried.

Neglecting someone like Hivert is not necessarily a problem, if you used his cost on a similarly unique rider who does comparably well or even better. Such rider for us could be Dayer Quintana (whom most of teams with Hivert do not have), so we must hope that Dayer will succeed in the duel between them. Then the only problem would be those 5 or so teams, who have both Hivert and Dayer, but that is certainly less bad than as if you just look at Hivert and see huge missed opportunity.

Looking at your and my teams, I would be more concerned about Stefan Denifl. According to this interview, his season may already be over due to lingering knee problem...:(

Well, I neglected Hivert to make room for Anton. We'll see how that plays out

Yep, missing 1 rider always means you had faith in another one, or thought of a better combination and so far I'm confident in Dayer. It's just when I saw Hivert picked by other teams, I went back to my longlist to check why I excluded him and he wasn't even there, but lots of other Rabo/Blanco/Belkin guys where.

Denifl was always a risky pick, but I figured at 149 points the reward might outweight the risk. I hope he'll be back for the Autumn classics. With his Paris-Nice form from last year he might still break into profit or at least limit his losses.
