While I'm also happy for those points I dont think CQ should award any points for these continental championships. After all, there is no such a thing as Euro championship other than the U23 races ...

Styby could be a great pick. To be honest, I should've done a bit more research about him. I wanted to pick him, but I shunned away after his crash causing him to skip the CX season. I thought that if his crash was serious enough to make him abandon defending his CX world title on home soil, it would be pretty serious and he would have a lousy winter and take some time recovering. But actually, one of the issues was that because it was a shoulder injury, he couldn't carry his bike on his shoulder, which is necessary for CX. Because he abandoned his CX plans he probably actually had a more dedicated and better prep for the road than he would have had without his crash. I should've read a bit more about his condition, so I would have known his crash was serious, but not that serious and I would've have picked him. I just automatically assumed his crash and injury was seriously messing up his winter, because it caused him to abandon defending his CX title in his own country.

Anyway, would've could've should've..... Cheers for those who did pick Styby. Porte and Styby are two picks I regret not picking. Forgetting about Porte also has advantages, because now I won't have to cheer for him, because I don't like him very much anyway, but I really like Styby! :p

I have Stybar (as I did last year) but it is still very premature to celebrate. As we all know, in cycling, things can go south very easily at any moment.

That being said, I love his winning attitude, hard work ethics and bike handling skills. Just a few days back he said that he had great winter and all hist training was dedicated to road.

Perhaps that the only reason he lost the sprint for 2nd today as he didnt have the speed in his legs from from the CX season.

Yep, never expected those 95 points combined by Kudus, RJvR and Meintjes. That said, I won't complain. Especially when races like Murcia keep being no-shows for me.

No, he lost the sprint for second place because of a team car on the finishing line -.-:mad:

pretty good week last one, nice showing in Qatar, some change left and right, suppose i'll end up roundabout 300 points (not counting cav in spain today)

next week pretty much everybody will race somewhere, so a haul is possible as well as a lot of "also ran"....

Cav is doing surprisingly well...didn't expect that. Never considered about him for even a second, so I can't have any regrets. I have to see if he can do it also with more competition.

Oh yeah, stealth 7 points from Marko Kump in some 1.2 race I didn't even know existed until I whimsically clicked on the CQ results. He's got 25% of his value back :D

He won the peloton sprint :) good sign

PS it's the first edition of the race so it's no shame you didn't know it existed ;)

Update #7: greenedge has the edge, trackstand stays in place atop leaderboard

A quieter week all around as the Tour of Qatar took most of the CQ points - two Spanish 1.1 races gave some points, especially to the majority that have Cav, and continental championships tended to benefit those with African riders such as Meintjes and Grmay. But overall, the week went to greenedge's team, who is very much in ascendancy, with two consecutive weeks in the top 10 and an improvement from 79th to 17th overall in that time. Points from Sagan, Cav, Stybar, Stannard, Stuyven and a couple of points from others help their team to 369 points. RoudeLeiw and will10 were hot on greenedge's heels with 365 and 363 respectively.

This Week's Top Scorers

Rank Team Points this week
1 greenedge 369
2 RoudeLeiw 365
3 will10 363
4 GP Blanco 332
5 Geraint Too Fast 323

This Week's High Movers

Rank Team Up/down
1 RoudeLeiw (+36)
2 WheelsuckersPL (+34)
3 GP Blanco (+30)
4 hilltopfinisher (+28)
5 PunchingRouleur (+27)
5 Mellow Velo (+27)

The 'Green Jersey' competition is heating up, with 80 teams having scored at least a point (which, I remind you, is for top 15 placings each week). With the incredible tear of the last two weeks, greenedge ousts Object from the top spot. jeroenk joins ingsve as the only participants to score points in 3 separate weeks so far in this still-young season.

Green Jersey Standings

Rank Team Points
1 greenedge 59
2 Object 57
3 ingsve 55
4 trackstand 48
5 Kjellus 47
6 DJ Sprtsch 46
7 jeroenk 45
7 the asian 45
7 Ferminal 45
7 Vesica 45
7 Zam_Olyas 45

There was some shuffling around of the top 10 this week - the top 2 places stayed put, Object swapped places with Armchair Cyclist to nab the last podium spot, and top 10 newcomers DJ Sprtsch and skidmark (yes, I'm going to refer to myself in the third person in these updates because it feels weird to talk about my own team) jump 9 and 10 places respectively. Roderick falls out of the top 10, and Vesica, who's Cavendish-less team was at #1 just a couple of weeks ago, falls all the way to 30th place.

Top 10 Overall

Rank Up/down Team Points
1 (-) trackstand 1829
2 (-) PeterB 1727
3 (+1) Object 1699
4 (-1) Armchair cyclist 1683
5 (+5) Geraint Too Fast 1646
6 (-1) theyoungest 1638
7 (+9) DJ Sprtsch 1600
8 (+10) skidmark 1580
9 (-2) Blues in the bottle 1571
10 (-2) ansimi 1558

Thanks for the update!

3 spots up and 16th overall is more than I have hoped for this season therefore I'm happy so far. Reality is that the season is just starting and the big guns are not even riding yet so I will not be delusional about my overall chances as my team was not built for that.

Thanks for the update. Steadily slipping down the ranking. Just too many dodgy picks! Relying on haussler and ruben fernandez so far too give me a half decent showing. Enjoyin it all the same though.

Yay, I'm so excited to be back in the lead of a weekly update (continuing from last year) and the new green jersey competition. Thanks for the update.

Hoping for a top 20 this year but I don't have that many riders who can score points in the GT's and harder one week races so that might prove hard for my team of popular riders.

Purito lost nearly a minute in Oman. Great :)

EBH not doing so great :( I guess I shouldn't have picked him :/
