Purito lost nearly a minute in Oman. Great :)

EBH not doing so great :( I guess I shouldn't have picked him :/

Dont worry, Purito is just waiting to smash everyone on Green Mountain just like 2013

This was the week I thought I would finally start to climb to somewhere near top 100, but:
Nairo - out of the race in Andalucia
Purito - out of overall contention in Oman
EBH - still mediocre at best
Nerz - outside chance for GC points in Oman lost 8 minutes

So, I guess another week near the bottom:mad:

Even if that happens, he won't score (big) from GC. :)

Hmm, well, a mixed bag with everything starting today.

Oman:

Negative - Purito losing 55 seconds, Boasson Hagen over 40, Sagan didn't win a stage basically tailored to him... Purito is my best GC contender and I want him to score points everywhere, but I didn't really expect him to pop into form until about Catalunya. Happy to bide my time because he can score big points in big races (Catalunya, Ardennes), same with Sagan (big classics). EBH is just mystifying, so I try not to dwell on him too much.

Positive - Patrick Konrad, my third rarest pick, is third overall and the top rider from his team, so they'll probably support him on Green Mountain and he could do well in the overall. Ideal would be if Purito saved his powder for the stage win at Green Mountain and by winning finished top 10, and Konrad held on enough for a good placing overall.

Andalucia:

Negative - nobody on my team made the split in front of the crash. Vervake even dropped out before stage 1b. Brajko with a pathetic TT. Not so great.

Positive - well, Foliforov didn't finish that far off and there's lots of climbing so if he does well on the climbs he could maybe make top 20, but not expecting much, more looking for a sign of consistency. He's my second most unique pick. Also positive would be if Conti could beat Froome, cuz like 40 people have Froome but I don't.

Algarve:

Porte and Gesink finished in the bunch. Nothing to report.

Bongo:

Positive - McLay won today! Getting 20 points from my 5th-rarest rider that cost 49 is pretty nice, but even better is him getting his first pro win. You never know with fast neo-pros, they could take awhile to build up confidence, but with a win already (and with ostensible leader Hutarovich finishing with him) this could be the sign of something good.

Still sitting in the lower top bracket and team ticking along nicely
Cam Meyer into a decent position and Froome looking ok

Startinig to think I might have made a big mistake taking Jungels out right at the end when I was doing last minute balances

My sprinters are experts at finishing well but not scoring any points:)

See... Ratto and Styby both 6th :D

Styby is doing so well (he's even 3rd on GC) but will likely score 0 points in Algarve:(

well, Laigueglia was a bit of a fail... Hivert gets 22 points for 11th, Moser 18 for 12th, Atapuma gets his year off with a whopping 6 points for 20th... not bad for an early season race but I was packing some heat in that race and expected a bit more. Will keep my fingers crossed to get some good results in the stage races to stay in the top 10 but I feel like the next couple of weeks might be a bit dry for my team... I guess Green Mountain will tell us a little more tomorrow.

The crash in Ruta del Sol took my main man Kelderman out of contention. Prediction: he would have finished on the podium otherwise.

Nice, 51 points in Laigueglia from Hivert, Moser, Atapuma and Stortoni :) Stortoni at 62.5% of his 2014 score :D

oh wow, from looking at the popularity tab it looks like NO ONE picked Valls this year! Just enough time that we all thought his exciting potential showed in 2010-11 was a brief flash in the pan, hey?

Well, if Purito is going to finish 49th alongside Cancellara, at least I can comfort myself that the top spots are mostly taken buy guys that no one has.

I expected a bounce-back season from Taaram?e and to be honest I knew I would pick him after Tour of Turkey last year, but he could very well be one of the steals this year, given that only cyclingmad8 and I have picked him. I hope he gets a few more chances this season and doesn't've to work for Aru/Nibali in every race after February. :)

I was questioning taking Sagan over Purito and was waiting to see what Purito would show on Green Mt. I know it is just a first race but so far he showed nothing so I feel slightly better having Sagan. ... it can reverse as the season is pretty long so no premature celebrations.

Guardini is looking better than all they years he was on my team but I still believe Astana or Katusha will be booted out for some doping reasons and that was the reason I did not pick any riders from those teams.

It will be interesting to compare the four popular expensive picks throughout the year. So far so good for Froome.

I guess so far, the big 4 (Rodriguez, Sagan, Froome and Quintana) have all dissapointed a bit with Rodriguez being the far worst, obviously.

Yeah Purito really letting me down. I've always shunned big picks, but I thought with Purito I finally had a properly safe >1000 points pick. Ah well, no need to be dramatic about it, it's only his second race of the year, though it's definitely a bad sign.

This week is getting kind of crappy for me. Purito horribly out of form in Oman, Kudus and JvdB getting caught up behind the crash in Andalucia. At least Kudus is showing promise though, finishing seventh in Andalucia in a good field on the MTF, but it will hardly earn him any points because of the crash.....

Hivert and Enger to save my week in Haut Var! :D

How has Froome disappointed? He put 1'20" into Bardet yesterday. I'd say he's doing as expected.

Froome is doing alright, Sagan and Quintana are ok but need to step up, Purito needs a rocket up his backside
