I'd like to do July if I can have the privilege of picking a month, but I will definitely need some guidance as for how to do it regarding excel. Once I'm up and running I doubt I would mind doing more than just 4/5 updates, but I guess there's some of those from last year who will do some later as well?

Hey netserk, I appreciate your willingness to do updates. And thanks shalgo for filling in. I believe shalgo has all the materials on updating the spreadsheet and could possibly forward them to you... another thing I was thinking was that if no one else steps up to do updates (as far as I have seen - unless I've overlooked some other comments - you two were the only ones to respond definitively to my request), perhaps shalgo could do them until the Dauphine starts (which would be about 6 weeks), and then you could do them until the start of August when I'm back in action (which would be about 6 weeks as well). Let me know if that would be possible, or anyone else who wants to do it speak up!
As long as someone will teach me how to do it before it's my turn to do an update, no problem! Will I have to install dropbox? iirc Hugo uploaded it to mediafire, right?

Yes, I just uploaded the spreadsheet to a site like Mediafire which is perfectly fine. Feel free to ask me any question on updating.

Since no one has Spilak nor Zakarin (from what I know), I think Froome's 3rd place in the GC together with Sepulveda in Turkey and Anton in Asturias as well as some smaller points from Lopez, Gesink and Atapuma (and ofc Cav), I really hope to be in the run for the stage win this week. I hope those with Yates and/or Uran won't have as many of the others as I have.

California looks stronger than Italia. Maybe Porte cracks early and König and Sebastian Henao can ride for themselves. Betancur will lose enough time in the early stages to go in a break, get 2 stage wins and the Mountain classification jersey. :p

I will have the update ready tomorrow; the spreadsheet is done (although I want to check everything one more time), but I need to write the update and will not be in front of a computer again until about 16 hours from now.

I would not mind to do the updates in June but I'm not really good at writing a story around the update :p

That sounds great! How about this as a plan - shalgo continues through the end of May, LaFlo writes for June, Netserk takes over in July (and maybe the first week of August) until I get back?

To your post, Netserk, mc_mountain put together some really good, detailed instructions on how to do the updates. Shalgo told me that they still had the documents, so I'd imagine that between Hugo and Shalgo you (and Flo) can get everything you need. That would be a relief to me as I'm ducking in and out of internet availability all the time and so am unreliable for a bit.

Anyway, thanks guys. (and I appreciate having something to talk about since my team was absolutely abysmal this week)

Update #17: Updater's Day in the Sun

If anyone needed a reason to volunteer to complete these updates, perhaps I have found it. This week, I was lucky enough to finish as the week's top scorer for the first time ever. Coincidence? You decide.

Although there were a lot of races last week, no one rider contributed a huge number of points to the top scoring team this week. Instead, it was a combination of riders scoring between 30 and 140 points that produced the highest totals. My team, for example, included Anton (136), Sepulveda (130), Simon Yates (100), Voeckler (76), JVDB (43), Kung (40), Cavendish (40), Alaphilippe (38), Gaudin (36), and Gesink (32). Giallo, in second place, had seven of these riders. The Hitch also had a similar combination of riders.

The other teams in the top five had a slightly different route to their results--in addition to having some of the riders mentioned above, Netserk and slosada benefited from 150 points from Froome, while Jakob747 had 107 from Quintana.

This week's top scorers

1 shalgo 699
2 Giallo 656
3 Netserk 638
4 slosada 621
5 Jakob747 600
5 The Hitch 600

slosada parlayed a top-five performance for the week into the high mover position, gaining 25 spots. Joelsim was close behind with a 22-place jump.

This week's high movers

slosada +25
Joelsim +22
cj2002 +17
Jakob747 +16
Sneekes +15

In the green jersey competition, Kjellus continues to lead, while asdfgh101 and I enter the top ten and The Hitch moves from 10th to 4th.

My unique pick, 18 year old neo-pro Will Barta scored his first ever CQ points so that made the update special :D

Been away on vacation for a few weeks and seeing myself still in top 5 is lovely.

Giro team:
Chaves (15,34%)

Kueng (222,33%)
Atapuma (145,10%)
Seb Henao (137,50%)

Filosi (155,56%)

California team:

Dunkerque team:
Sarreau (181,08%)

Re:

Thanks for the update!

The last few weeks saw me sliding down again just hovering in the Top70. Looking at my team, that shouldn't come as a surprise in the hilly classics. So the next few weeks will tell if my second-tier climbers are worth anything.

Giro team:
Betancur
Atapuma
Küng
Quintana (Dayer)
Porte
Henao (Seb)

4 in the Top10, Best Climber (Atapuma) and a stage winner (Küng)? Porte cracking/crashing, Henao loosing time waiting for Porte, Quintana working for his captain doing nothing, Atapuma working for Caruso doing nothing, Betancur enjoying pasta and Küng sitting next to Gilbert sounds more realistic somehow.

California team:
Henao (Serge)
Sagan
Gesink
Dombrowski
Goss

Obviously 1,2,3 with Dombo, Henao and Gesink while Goss and Sagan split the non-climbing stages. Gosh, I'll be disappointed when all is said and done.

Dunkerque team:
Le Gac
Gaudin
Thurau

Pretty much the guys that disappointed me the most so far.

Edit:
Bayern team:
Denifl (He's alive!!)
Janse van Rensburg (Reini)
Kudus
Meintjes
Senechal
van der Haar
Nerz
Moser
Mohoric

Found my team! That one should be fun!

Wow, thanks for noting this news, I am very happy for our teams but sincerely more for Stefan because at one moment it did not look good at all, fingers crossed that his knee will hold and be fine.
Also, your guys started Dunkerque pretty well... ;)

My Giro Team:
URAN Rigoberto
PORTE Richie
HENAO Sebastián
QUINTANA Dayer
ATAPUMA John Darwin
CHEVRIER Clément
HAUSSLER Heinrich
PAOLINI Luca
VIVIANI Elia
MODOLO Sacha
RICHEZE Ariel Maximiliano
COLEDAN Marco
SILVESTRE Fábio

On paper quite impressive, let's see what happens over three weeks. In other thread I said I did not expect many bunch sprints but for the sake of my team I hope I am wrong.

Oh yes, and Marko Kump races again :D

I'm at 26th position overall, but I have 0 points at the green jersey competition at 129th overall.

I think i'm the highest player in that case and it's a little strange indeed, my team is consistent but doesn't score a lot in a specific week.

Giro Team:
Sebastian Henao
Dayer Quintana
Richie Porte
Estaben Chaves
Davide Formolo
Domenico Pozzovivo
Ivan Basso
Igor Anton
Luca Paolini
Rick Zabel

I want to see Porte do well because I have him on my team, but at the same time I want to see him get his butt kicked. :)

Gaudin into profit and Horner getting some points as well, plus a bit from the Giro. I don't know how popular Coquard is, but other than those with him, I think I could be among the top scorers again this week.

Coquard is on 11 teams. I'm one of them.

Finally Coquard and Hofland are showing some life. Now I need Sagan start collecting more points in Cali and I should hopefully manage to stay in the Top 100 :D

Re:

Update #18: Small Tour Triumphs

It was a generally quiet week, with only 62 teams scoring 100 points. But there were opportunities out there to score, if you had the right riders. This week's top scorer, gustienordic, racked up large scores in two small stage races, the Vuelta Comunidad de Madrid and the perplexingly five-day-long 4 Jours de Dunkerque. In particular, his unique pick Shalunov took the overall honors in the former, while rare pick Coquard amassed 202 points in the latter by finishing second overall, winning a stage, placing in others, and wearing the leader's jersey. The other teams in the top 5 were, not surprisingly, all teams with Coquard.

This week's top scorers

1 gustienordic 454
2 Eric10 396
3 afpm90 322
4 the_fool_on_the_hill 304
5 Jancouver 298

gustienordic again led among the high movers, climbing an astonishing 30 places. Jancouver was second.

This week's high movers

1 gustienordic +30
2 Jancouver +19
3 Jspear +16
4 Nicosix +15
5 simple +14

In the green jersey race, afpm90 takes the lead, based on a third place finish this week. This performance shows that the green jersey competition really can produce results that differ dramatically from the overall competition: afpm90 is 128th overall. It can be enough to have one or two rare picks who have some big weeks--in this case, afpm90 had 202 points from Coquard and 40 from Hofland.

Green jersey competition

1 afpm90 127
2 Kjellus 108
3 shalgo 95
4 asdfgh101 93
5 The Hitch 93
6 LaFlorecita 85
7 derrudi 83
8 PeterB 78
9 snccdcno 77
10 merengues 76

In the overall competition: PeterB remains in the lead. We have a new entrant into our top two, however, after many weeks of PeterB and Geraint Too Fast sharing those spots. snccdcno moved into second place by having the 7th best score of the week. skidmark replaces will10 in 10th place.

Top 10 overall

1 (-) PeterB 7055
2 (+1) snccdcno 6934
3 (-1) Geraint Too Fast 6836
4 (+2) derrudi 6750
5 (-1) Kjellus 6708
6 (-1) Cykeltyven 6630
7 (-) shalgo 6617
8 (+1) asdfgh101 6569
9 (-1) Londonpat 6489
10 (+2) skidmark 6460

Thanks for update! Watching the Giro, I can imagine myself wearing pink jersey :)

Well spotted the 4-Jours mystery. This is what wikipedia has to say about it: "Despite the name of the race, since the addition of an individual time trial in 1963, the race has been held over a 5 or 6 day period for most of its history." They really must like the race's name.

By the way, there is some bug in the rankings tab of the spreadsheet due to which two teams are placed at the very bottom instead of at their proper place... The formula in column A calculating their rank needs just small adjustment I guess.
