Hopefully Betancur can still win a stage or two get 20th in the GC and win the mountain jersey. :p

I hope they make Betancur race in Switzerland or the Dauphine to capitalize on his form. Would be good for his points this year. I mean, if he scores a stage win the mountain jersey to go back to Colombia and suck again in the Vuelta, than he'll be a terrible pick, but unfortunately that scenario doesn't seem unlikely.

251 points. Looks like Roelandts will go to profit although his classic campaign was meh. Betancur not the big fail but won't be the good pick either. König as expected the best GC rider for Sky in the Giro. But still, my classic team sucked and my weak GC team doesn't surprise the good way.

Every time I peek at the rankings in these sort of games, I notice Geraint Too Fast up there. Damn dude.

Still not as often as I see myself on the bottom 5.

PS: That's a few points guaranteed right there Fleur.

Update #20: Slow Mid-GT Week

Not much action this week, as our top scorer, nuvolablu, scored only 370 points, compared to the 1070 of last week's winner. The winning combination this week involved previously disappointing picks EBH, Modolo, Betancur, and Ulissi. The rest of this week's top five were also EBH/Betancur teams, some of them containing Talansky, another pick who has come up short so far.

This week's top scorers

1 nuvolablu 370
2 fauniera 332
3 mc_mountain 328
4 al_pacino 325
5 jeroenk 320

Our high mover this week was kabete, who climbed 14 spots (while scoring 7th overall for the week), again on the backs of EBH and Betancur, along with nearly unique pick Edward Theuns (picked twice), who has more than tripled last year's score. The organizer of the Giro CQ game, Armchair cyclist, was fittingly also a top mover during the second week of that GT.

This week's high movers

1 kabete +14
2 Armchair cyclist +11
3 fauniera +10
3 Wallenquist +10
5 ItalianGigolo +9

No changes at the top of the green jersey competition, with afpm90 still holding a 13-point lead. jeroenk enters the top ten after finishing fifth on the week.

Green jersey competition

1 afpm90 127
2 will10 114
3 Kjellus 108
4 shalgo 103
5 derrudi 97
6 asdfgh101 93
7 The Hitch 93
8 jeroenk 91
9 LaFlorecita 85
10 fauniera 84

We have a new overall leader, snccdcno, and a new second-place team, derrudi. It is now very close at the top, with four teams within 78 points of the lead. Next week should witness a big shake-up, with a lot of points on offer at the Giro. LaFlorecita, the top ranked team with Contador, is only in 70th place, but Londonpat, in 7th, has Konig, and Cykeltyven, in 8th, has Landa and Visconti. Yellow Knight, in 34th, has Aru. There are now 6 teams into profit on the year.

Top 10 overall

1 snccdcno 7760
2 derrudi 7752
3 PeterB 7707
4 Geraint Too Fast 7682
5 will10 7541
6 shalgo 7515
7 Londonpat 7444
8 Cykeltyven 7427
9 skidmark 7397
10 greenedge 7231

so this week's total 841

Well, Atapuma and Chevrier were my only Giro finishers, and I had some small points from McLay, EBH, and Stuyven this week, so I fully expect to drop out of the top 10... but as I've said earlier, my team is more geared toward the later season (or so I hope) with Rodriguez targeting the other 2 GTs. We shall see.

Just checking in about the weekly updates - earlier LaFlo had offered to do the updates for June, and I haven't followed up with anyone... Shalgo if you want to keep going this week to wrap up the Giro and LaFlo wants to take over until the Tour (after which Netserk can fill in until I'm back in range in early august) does that work? Alternatively, if Flo isn't interested anymore maybe Shalgo can keep on until after the Dauphine or something and then Netserk can do some. Either way, appreciate the offers and good job so far all around.

Flo and I were in touch last week; I will do one last update tomorrow and she will take over after that.

2 races this week I think
Tour of Luxembourg (2.HC)
ROLLIN Dominique
JANSE VAN RENSBURG Reinardt
HIVERT Jonathan
RATTO Daniele

Not a clue how hard the parcours is as I cannot find any profiles. Hopefully this is an opportunity for Reinie and Hivert to score in the GC.

Boucles de la Mayenne (2.1)
Zilch
Francesco Lasca still MIA

Re:

Update #21: Landa Opportunity

Not surprisingly, this year's first GT turned the game upside down. The biggest winners in the overall competition, as we will see below, were two of the three teams with Landa (as netserk already previewed). In the week's competition, the three Landa teams (Cykeltyven, Londonpat, and Netserk) all made it into the top five. They were beaten out for first place, however, by minessa. minessa's top riders on the week were Aru, Visconti, and Kangert. The other team making it into the top five, Yellow Knight, relied primarily on Aru and Visconti.

The two teams with Contador, LaFlorecita and martinaagard, were 8th and 13th on the week, respectively.

13 teams are now into profit on the year. The Hitch, in 14th, has exactly matched his budget of 7482.

This week's top scorers

1 minessa 1251
2 Cykeltyven 1152
3 Londonpat 1146
4 Yellow Knight 983
5 Netserk 897

The large number of points on offer this week resulted in major shifts in the standings. The high mover for the week, gustienordic (another Aru team), moved up an astounding 44 places. Netserk and LaFlorecita (relying on Landa and Contador, respectively), were not far behind. Rounding out the top five were Jpettersen (Aru and Teuns) and our weekly winner, minessa.

This week's high movers

1 gustienordic +44
2 Netserk +41
3 LaFlorecita +40
4 Jpettersen +37
5 minessa +35

Given the number of points available this week, it is not surprising that many of our weekly top scorers also appear on the monthly top scorers list. gustienordic leads the way with 2600 points, followed closely by Netserk, Cykeltyven, and Londonpat.

Monthly top scorers

1 gustienordic 2600
2 Netserk 2570
3 Cykeltyven 2562
4 Londonpat 2559
5 shalgo 2319
6 minessa 2242
7 will10 2193
8 Kazistuta 2182
9 the_fool_on_the_hill 2141
10 Sasquatch 2136

Because this aspect of the workbook is not functioning for me, I make no guarantees that the monthly high movers list is accurate, but I did my best to generate the numbers by comparing the rankings from week 16 to those this week. It seems intuitively correct that gustienordic and Netserk would be at the top of the list, the former moving from 104th to 30th and the latter from 113th to 44th over the course of the last five weeks.

This month's high movers

1 gustienordic +74
2 Netserk +69
3 the_fool_on_the_hill +45
4 fauniera +38
5 Sasquatch +37
6 minessa +36
7 Jancouver +30
7 rote_laterne +30
9 ingsve +22
9 LaFlorecita +22

In the green jersey competition, afpm90 stays in the lead, while Londonpat moves up to 3rd and LaFlorecita to 6th with new points this week.

Green jersey competition

1 afpm90 127
2 will10 114
3 Londonpat 112
4 Kjellus 108
5 shalgo 103
6 LaFlorecita 101
7 derrudi 97
8 asdfgh101 93
9 The Hitch 93
10 jeroenk 91

As indicated above, Londonpat and Cykeltyven, two of the three teams with Landa, are now in 1st and 2nd places overall, with just 11 points separating them, while they lead the 3rd place team, snccdcno, by over 200 points. *Falze* re-enters the top 10 while greenedge falls out.

Top 10 overall

1 (+6) Londonpat 8590
2 (+6) Cykeltyven 8579
3 (-2) snccdcno 8350
4 (-1) PeterB 8309
5 (+1) shalgo 8117

7 (-3) Geraint Too Fast 8007
8 (-3) will10 7931
9 (+3) *Falze* 7731
10 (-1) skidmark 7660
