Who is this Lachlan Morton guy that so many people picked though?

He was on Garmin for the last couple of years, so for 0 points it seemed a good pick, considering he's young and apparently quite talented. But it looks like we picked the wrong Morton!

About the Australian RR, I'm more then happy not to see Porte winning it but getting two of my picks 1-2. I was already a bit down for having a bad start of the season, as I can see myself hanging in the lower regions of rankings from the start of the season, every single year. Porte winning seemed to continue this tradition, but I'm glad he doesn't just go of for a flying start and make me regret my team to much, this early in the season.

Edit: Haussler is apparently only picked 25 times, and already on more then 40% of last year. He was one of the lower cost riders I was most confident about, since his best season was when he was quite young, so I just don't think he's done yet. I believe he should easily get 500+.

(My last Australian pick, Daniel Mcconnell (0 points) did fine too! Did anyone knew him? I honestly only picked him for being a 0 pointer on a WT team, you never know. But I never heard of him before.)

Isn't he a MTB'er?

I really don't know, I just needed to include one more rider and I was in a hurry... Well if he is a MTB'er that kinda sucks.

I'm not sure, I just read somewhere that Trek had signed a 29-year-old MTB'er (someone has him in his/her CQ Youth team as well) so it's probably likely that it's him.

Btw, I agree that Haussler could be a very good pick this year. I'm also surprised that he was only picked 25 times.

Yes, looked him up and he's just a mountainbiker, so there goes my 33rd rider. Well, there are other teams with 32 I guess, I'll just look at it as an injury really early in the season.

Wow, I also didn't think of Hausler. Hausler is no. 2 for my list of good picks I missed. (Porte is no. 1 - at least he didn't win the RR though.) :(

It's necessary but annoying to have the obvious picks like Ewan. Yay Ewan made more than 60% of his cost in his first race day, except it doesn't matter for this game because everybody has Ewan. :p

Happy picking Haussler, will be one of the favorities for Cadel Race plus some points from TDU and could be close to profit at the end of January.

With all the commotion I have not been able to look at the most popular picks until now and seeing it now makes me wonder on whether I should have picked up Moreno Moser.
I just do not really trust the guy to score big anymore, at least not in 2015.

Who is this Lachlan Morton guy that so many people picked though?

Many teams probably included Moser just to hedge the risk in case he finds his winning formula, as he was quite cheap, rather than really believing he will do well. But I have similar feeling about him as you and decided to take the risk of not picking him. In an interview in November he openly admitted he did not know what was the problem, which indicates it will not be very easy to fix it...

And yeah, Lachlan Morton has many fans on this forum :). But it is quite difficult to score many points on a US conti team, so despite the fact that he costs nothing and will probably get in profit, I preferred other cheap riders to him.

Boonen is probably too old and the competition both within his team and in general means it will be hard for him to win much.

True that he is getting old and past his best years, but he will still probably be Etixx leader in the biggest races. Although the team had success with some other riders in 2014, I can't imagine they will suddently start backing "accidental" winner like Terpstra over Boonen.

In classics like RvV of PR it very often doesn't come down to who will be backed and who doesnt, but it really comes down to who is the best/has the best day. I don't think he'll be able to score 1500+ or something, he might do better than last year but not overwhelmingly.

I just realised that noone picked Boonen..! I must say I had him in my first draft, but at some point I lost my faith in him. He is a big question mark, but so is Betancur whose price is similar but was picked by many. Some wasted opportunity there to have such a prominent unique pick.
The "problem" with Boonen is that he only cares about winning. When you look at his palmares it's understandable why he doesn't race for placings but that's not great from a CQ perspective.

I don't think he is done. Last year he had a less than ideal preparation but still won KBK and was the strongest guy in PR. He'll make those young guys suffer in the spring. There's also the fact that he can score heavily in the WC this time around. If healthy, he should crack 1000 points without too much trouble.

I didn't picked because I couldn't fit another expensive rider in my team but I'm shocked that no-one did (at least some fan who doesn't care about ranking in the game). In a year to go from most popular selection to not getting pick is a pretty amazing (especially since 2014 was nowhere close to his ceiling in terms of points).

Is the Cadel Race worth points? I thought it was a criterium or something.

Cannot wait for the TDU and San Luis final startlists.

Flakemore, Porte, Ewan and Bevin scoring me my points. Disappointed that Bevin didn't win the NZ Nationals, but he demonstrated his strength by following Bennet, so hopefully he can continue to score throughout the year.
