That was a good day yesterday with Sepulveda & Stannard both winning plus some change

Will compensate the probable disappearance of il grande Guardini (who is more or less break even at this time, perhaps he will race in Malaysia before all is over)

EDIT: add the manxman to the tolly

I'm imagining this week's scores won't be too separated - Stannard was picked by almost half the teams, Cav by almost all, Sepulveda and Bonifazio by relatively few, and then the high finishers from the bigger races are expensive guys like Terpstra and Boonen who aren't so popular. Either way, with Stannard and Cav and some small points like Hivert and Kump and EBH (who is still mystifyingly anonymous), I had an okay week.

How about Cav? I know it was obvious to most that he should be picked, but with 441 points before turning a pedal at a WT race? Damn... this is even better than his pace at his best-scoring year. Dude's got something to prove all season, it seems.

re: Astana, although I don't think it'll come to the point where the team just doesn't race, that was definitely a risk coming in. I was borderline on Boom but probably wouldn't have picked him based on points expectations alone. The only guy I really wanted but left out was Lutsenko - I figured that with Astana on notice and him being Kazakh, he'd either dial it down to stay under the doping radar, or be in danger of getting suspended.

It remains to be seen; we'll see how he does in the rest of the classics, but I think I might end up regretting not having Stannard.

Hurts having missed Stannard. Guess that's what happens when you start with your team hours before deadline.

472 seems a bit optimistic considering the points you posted ;-)

Hi guys,

busy day, no time yet to write an update; I hope to get it out tonight (North American time) or at the very latest tomorrow afternoon. Thanks in advance for your patience.

Stannard's win was so good I believe it should count as double CQ points. Or I can't count, one of the two

Update #8: snccdcno wins the week, trackstand stays balanced on top

Unpronounceable names are on everyone's lips down here at CQ Manager Game central, as the top two spots go to snccdcno and asdfgh101 with 446 and 411 points respectively (the more sensibly pronounceable rote_lanterne brings up the bronze position with 382). snc (can I call you that for short? Are we on that casual of a basis?) got points from the ubiquitous Cav and fairly popular Stannard, of course, and then had Sepulveda and Felline for good measure. A decent set of results from the weekend.

This week's top scorers

Rank Team Points this week
1 snccdcno 446
2 asdfgh101 411
3 rote_laterne 382
4 Joelsim 381
5 search 377

Ruudz0r, just out of the top 5, ends up with the highest mover prize this week, while other than frequent thread contributor Netserk in 4th place, the top 5 is covered by a similar crew to the last list.

This week's high movers

Rank Team Up/down
1 Ruudz0r (+34)
2 Joelsim (+33)
3 rote_laterne (+30)
4 Netserk (+28)
5 snccdcno (+25)

Wait, what's that you say? It's a new month? It's time for our first monthly update ratings of the year too! (note: I skipped them in January since they were the same as the overall rankings) The top scorers for the month are a testament to how important consistency is in this game - although top scorer for the month Jeroenk is in third overall, the teams placing 2nd-4th in the month scoring are not quite in the top 10 overall despite January being a relatively thin month. Conversely, overall leader trackstand isn't even in the top 10 monthly scorers, giving evidence to his strong January (and very good February; he's 11th for the month).

This month's top scorers

Rank Team Points this month
1 jeroenk 1510
2 asdfgh101 1451
3 search 1450
4 ironted 1443
5 just some guy 1434
6 snccdcno 1408
7 Tuarts 1402
8 greenedge 1399
9 shalgo 1337
10 SamJourno 1336

The high movers' list for the month is coloured by heavy movement, as is to be expected in the second month of the game when things are just starting to step up. SamJourno, out of the top 100 at the end of January, moves 69 spots in the month up to 33rd overall.

This month's high movers

Rank Team Up/down
1 SamJourno (+69)
2 ironted (+62)
3 VeloHuman (+58)
3 search (+58)
3 derrudi (+58)
6 greenedge (+53)
6 del1962 (+53)
8 Tuarts (+52)
9 adamski101 (+51)
10 asdfgh101 (+50)

The green jersey competition sees some movement near the top, but the top few positions remain the same. 89 teams have scored at least a point so far, and the overall leader is in 106th place in the main game. Go big or go home!

Points competition

6 Ludwig_ 53
7 Ferminal 49
8 trackstand 48
9 The Hitch 48
10 asdfgh101 47
10 jeroenk 47

And finally, finally, the top 10 overall stays relatively the same this week with a Stannard-less Geraint Too Fast dropping from 3rd to 8th, everyone in between those marks moving up one, and Armchair Cyclist falling 2 spots from 9th to be replaced by a surging will10. More like 'willtop10', amirite?

Yes, very good update! First goal of the season achieved (being mentioned in an update)! :) Next target is a top-5 stage placing, then a stage win and if I'm lucky perhaps a decent place in the GC.

Fineally a good week for me and especially happy with my 2 unique picks (Colli & Guyot) scoring their first points. Not having Cav seems to be an expensive mistake.

That must be my first mention in an update since 2012. I think my overall place, 27th, is probably also my highest one since that year.

This time of year is always fun, with a large number of teams still very close to each other. Although trackstand has opened a rather large lead--171 points--2nd through 26th are all within 278 points of each other.

Thanks for the update skidmark. This is my moment of glory, on the podium in the green jersey competition and moving in the top 100. My goal is to stay there till the end.

Not having Sepulveda cost me this week, although he wasn't on my short list so not feeling too bad about it.
As opposed to a couple of riders doing well that I took off at the last moments
