If you go to the team rankings of CQ and click on each team, they have a list of riders with their current scores. Other than knowing that a rider scored zero points, that has been the best method I have found.

Hi all, just a reminder that the deadline is approaching! Also note that there is a two-tiered deadline (as laid out in the first post, but there were a lot of words there so it might pay to highlight this point):

Submission Deadline is 23:49 CET on January 4th
(about 51 hours from this post) - at this point, I would like to have all teams submitted.

Revision Deadline is 23:49 CET on January 5th
- this 24 hour period is for me to have time to check over teams, and get back to teams that have errors, to give them a small window to make substitutions before teams are revealed publicly. I have realized that because I get so many entries in the last day, it would make my processing life easier to have this buffer period.

There are always a few teams that get submitted a few hours late due to time zone calculation error, internet service interruption, or something like that. If you miss the Submission Deadline but get a team into me before the Revision Deadline, I will accept it but if there are any mistakes (duplicate riders, over the limit) I will just remove riders myself to make it compliant (ie. you won't get the chance to make changes yourself). I've been lenient in the past, but because of this buffer period, I will absolutely not be accepting teams submitted after this.

Please don't reveal your team on this thread until after the revision deadline. I'll probably repeat this message closer to the time.

I have submitted my team.
I don't have any high hopes, still suffering mentally from the 2015 game which was a disaster - after being in the top ten in March it was downhill some 30 weeks in a row ending up 150th or so.

I just submitted my team. I have NO clue what to expect. I don't think this is a game I'll ever play super well...I'm just hoping I beat myself from last year. :) Real curious to see who everyone else has picked.

I do..still doubting my top spots..some of them are relatively cheap, but the biggest question is, who will make the largest plus score..3 guys from poland, france and spain are fighting with each other in my head :D

I think most of us tend to avoid 2000+ riders because there's only a very small chance they will score better the following year. However, it's not necessarily a bad strategy. Your expensive riders could provide a solid, reliable base, while your cheaper riders generate your profit. Either way, it's your first year, see where you end up and use it as a learning experience for next year :)

But if a 2000+ rider gets himself injured after crashing out? Could turn out to be a <1000pt year then, or worse. The risk is not worth the potential slim reward in percentage gain. Even 1000+ is extremely risky and I can't find a single 1000+ rider this year, let alone 700+-rider, to include in my team. I just don't see any one of them realistically doubling their score.

An expensive rider doesn't have to double their score to be a good pick, imo. I agree expensive riders are risky but that's part of the game ;)

Not double, but at least add 60% to the previous year's score. Depends on your level of ambition too ;)

Got a busy day but still processing teams when I can. I think I've got 79 entries as of now - either it's gonna be a bit smaller than last year, or there will be a LOT of teams come in the last day! I'd be excited for either one, in different ways, haha. Thanks to all who've participated so far.

If there's under 100 entries at least all those who aimed for top 100 (I know a few...) would have achieved their goal :) :p

I have one Italian, but 6 French guys. I don't know why I believe in French so much.
On the other hand I have no Spaniards.

edit: And 5 Colombians, but the abundance of them is to be expected in many teams I guess. ;)

just submitted my first ever team as well  :

Cost:

1 >800
0 600-800
5 500-600
2 400-500
2 300-400
4 200-300
7 100-200
5 <100

Total: 7495

Country:

2 Germany
2 Luxembourg
2 Netherlands
2 Slovenia
1 Austria
1 Estonia
1 France
1 Ireland

Pretty diverse lineup and a bit of a lack of Mediterranean riders here.

Also, I have only just realised that I only have 26 riders, not sure if that is a good plan or not...

Looks quite balanced, but regarding the number of cyclists, you can always add a bunch of very cheap ones, they won't do you you any bad and might also score a bit.

Hi escartin,
there's absolutely no reason why you should submit team with less than 33 riders if you want to maximize your gain. If you don't have remaining budget on any of your pre-selected riders, just use it on any random riders e.g. with 1 point cost. There are also riders who scored 0 points last year but could score something this year so add those to get to team of 33. Such riders won't probably make the difference between winning or not winning the game (although, who knows?) but at least you won't be sorry you could have placed better. I am sure skidmark will be fine if you send him revised team with additional riders.

ah yeah, did not think of riders with 0 points!

I only have 5 points to spare unless I have a little reshuffle in mid-price it will have to be the cheapest options. it will be a total shot in the dark as if I even recognise 1 cyclist at that level I will be shocked! will have a look tomorrow evening...

Take out one expensive rider and find 7 "decent" riders! The chances are the 7 will score more than one expensive rider.

My team sent now also (so that I will be able to get some sleep tonight) As usual for me a lot of impulsive changes the last day (even including a couple of riders I had barely considdered until yesterday) and some tough sacrifices of riders I would have liked to fit the pusle, but Im quite satisfied with the result now, and a nice 7500 total for the 33 riders always feels extra good.

The team in very rough prices, not revealing much :)

>500 : 3
100-500: 23
>100: 7

Countries with most picked riders:

Belgium and France

Expecting to be a bit lower on the popularity list than usual, but probably still in the first third
