The 2016 CQ Ranking Manager Thread

Page 6 - Get up to date with the latest news, scores & standings from the Cycling News Community.
So, about 21 hours to go and we have 94 entrants! I've seen a bunch of folks mention on the thread that they were going to play but haven't got their teams yet, plus some definite game regulars have yet to submit teams. I'm out for the night (it's about 8:30pm where I am), but I'll catch up as soon as I can tomorrow and hopefully keep up with the list tomorrow as the submission deadline approaches. I am taking the day between the submission and publication deadlines to look over silly errors like duplicate entered riders or anything else I can't catch right away, but as of now there is only one team that has to make adjustments. Nicosix, if you're out there, get back to me please!

For those of you working away at your teams, good luck and hope it comes together for you!

Riders who have been suspended for doping and had that affect their 2015 score will not be available simply for their 2015 score. Instead, a rider’s value will be equivalent to that of his last full season; or, if he has more recently had a (not full, due to suspension) season in which he has earned more points, that season represents his value. Riders who have been suspended by the UCI are on this list.

Ulissi and Kreuziger are not at the list. This means both of them are available for their 2015 score?

No, the last season not affected by suspension is their price tag.

Submitted my team.
I don't expect to be anywhere near the Top30 as I went for the high risk-no reward version. The other draft was more of a love-em-will-be-good-in-2-years-maybe and I didn't even bother with a they-could-improve-a-lot team this year.

High risk means

8 riders > 200
12 riders 100-200
13 riders <1000
7500 points

Too many germans, belgians and climbians lead the way. 13 nations riding for 19 teams, 5 of which are PROF.

My team:

Breakdown by cost:

4 >500
2 400-499
0 300-399
5 200-299
15 100-199
7 0-99

Breakdown by nationality:

5 Italians, Germans, Colombians and Belgians
2 Danes, Australians and Americans
1 Pole, Slovenian, Swiss, Spaniard, Irishman, Norwegian and Frenchman

Breakdown by team:

7 Etixx ( )
4 Orica
3 Movistar and Trek
2 Lotto Soudal, Cannondale and Bora
1 Astana, BMC, Bardiani, Dimension Data, FDJ, Katusha, Sky, Southeast, Stölting and Tinkoff

Submitted my team. As always, my team is 1/3 must have riders, 1/3 fan picks and 1/3 hopefully somewhat unique riders.

8 riders > 300
14 riders 100-300
11 riders < 100

26 WT
7 Pro Conti

For political and clinic reasons, I skipped all riders from Russia and all riders from Astana and Katusha teams.

Good luck to all and thanks to Skidmark for running the game again!

Did not think Kreuziger was suspended during 2015, he might have thought he might become so (and it indirectly affected him and his schedual) but he was not directly affected and raced a full season or did I miss that suspension? So he should be fine to pick at 2015 price I would think.

Ulissi was affected 2014 and 2015 so the 2013 price must count

yeah, that pdf isn't really useful as the UCI seems to delete past suspensions from that list, so Ulissi is not listed anymore.

Kreuziger wasn't banned at any point during 2015 though, he was cleared by the Czech Olympic committee in September 2014, and free to race on from then, also during the (later dropped) CAS appeal.

Yeah that interpretation is correct. Kreuz is 2015 score, Ulissi 2013 score. That UCI sheet does delete past suspensions, and I'm not sure how better to link to a list of past dopers, because there doesn't seem to be such a sheet available and I'm too busy with other aspects of this game to put one together. So, not sure how to proceed for next year - it is a bit weird to post names right in the thread, but maybe if they are going to be so expensive as to be unattractive it doesn't really matter.

ah yeah, did not think of riders with 0 points!

I only have 5 points to spare unless I have a little reshuffle in mid-price it will have to be the cheapest options. it will be a total shot in the dark as if I even recognise 1 cyclist at that level I will be shocked! will have a look tomorrow evening...

Take out one expensive rider and find 7 "decent" riders! The chances are the 7 will score more than one expensive rider.

That is pretty much what I have done. Modified 4 of the previous 26 and added 7 new riders. I now appear to have lots of Slovenes and Dimension Data riders! Will submit and see if it is accepted.

4 > 500
3 > 300
12 > 100
13 < 100

5 Movistar

3 BMC, Sky
2 OGE, Giant, Astana, Tinkoff, Trek
1 FDJ, Cannondale, Lampre, Stolting, Lotto, LottoNL, Marseille, Cofidis

Good luck to everyone and game on!

Just sent my team! I just missed Top 10 last year so I hope I will make it this year... Last year I had 3 Purito, Nairo and Sagan(all 1000+ guys) This year I thought a lot about 2 1000+ picks but I decided that the 600-1000 guys are just way better for this season....

4 600-1000
1 500-600
3 400-500
1 300-400
5 200-300

Hi, just a reminder that the submission deadline is 90 minutes away. I've had a flood of teams today and as of now we're at 130, so we won't be too far off previous participation rates.

I want to remind everyone that the revision & publication deadline is at 23:59 CET January 5th, which is 24 hours after the submission deadline, and I'd like to ask you to please refrain from publishing your teams in this thread until after that deadline has passed. I'll be sure to be online around then, so I'll explicitly post in the thread to let people know when changes and entries are officially closed, and after that it will be fair for everyone to reveal their teams.

Thanks all; we're almost there - the CQ team reveal has been my cycling season christmas morning for the last few years!

3 things I'm looking forward to finding out...

How many people decided nibali was worth the big price
Have I managed any unique riders (seems unlikely this year)
Who is the obvious pick that I've somehow missed

Well for me is is more like
Who is the obvious picks that I've somehow missed and how many are there.

They can be game changing, I think somebody in the top 10 missed Ewan last year and it hurt them
