Guys, I am really curious to see how do my picks match yours. And how many unique picks there will be.
You just have to wait for another 24 hours you know. Teams can be published only 25 hours and 15 minutes from now.
Yes I know:) I find this time even more thrilling then the rest of the season... and the results annnouncement is even boring :D

Hey all, so just under 5 hours until submission deadline and about 105 teams in, but they're coming fast and furious. I'm out for the day until after the deadline, so I just wanted to address something a few people have brought up on PM. Due to the deadline being a few days earlier than usual, and the fact that Velorooms was down for about ten days, alot of people are scrambling to make teams. The publication deadline is technically for changes to be made on teams with errors that I discover, but as no teams will be revealed and the first CQ points are yet to be awarded, I see no problem accepting entries right up until the publication deadline, which is 24 hours after the first (submission) deadline. After that, though, there will be no exceptions - just get me your team by 23:59 CET on January 3rd and you will be part of the game.

This crap never gets old.

Who cares that people are scrambling? Yes, people are flakes, just gets used to it.

Yeah, sure, we have deadline and rules, but it is OK to submit or change your team after the deadline. Every year the same S..T.

People are late or making changes after the deadline and you even encourage it. I just don't get it.

... and you are surprised I can't take your own team seriously ... I know, you just want to adjust your team based on the latest schedule announcements ... LOL

Can you at least mark all those late submissions so I know who the flakes/cheaters are?

Well, I want people to play this game because it is fun, so I want the most people to be able to play and have fun. And, given that there's no reason to not accept teams, I'm going to do it, because it doesn't seem to affect the fun most people have in this game, and seems totally fair. Unless you can give me a serious reason? There seems to be no unfair advantage given to anyone at all to do it this way - no one sees any teams before they submit (except the 4 I saw before I submitted on December 24th, I guess), and if new info came out in the last day before full publication deadline, every single person has equal opportunity to make changes. I see no reason this is unfair, and you haven't provided me with one. Please do so if you have one and I'll reconsider.

And yeah, I'm surprised you don't take my team seriously. I submitted the full team when there were 4 teams in on December 24th. Why don't you take that seriously?

@Jancouver, please read the rules on the first page, you will find there that it was envisaged from the start that teams can be accepted until revision deadline if required. I knew since skidmark posted that info yesterday that you would moan about it and you did not disapoint.

Jancouver, this is totally uncalled for and out of line as you've been a few times already. This is a game. This is for fun. There is no prize for the winner. I really don't get your grudge towards skidmark. He puts in a ton of work for you and everyone else to have fun and all you give back is criticism and allegations of him cheating. Why can't you just enjoy the game and have fun like everyone else? Noone is trying to give themselves or anyone else an unfair advantage, you're being paranoid. You are the only one of hundreds of people criticizing and accusing skidmark of cheating. Perhaps it's time to look inward?

Jancouver makes no sense right now. Skidmark submitted his team more than 1 week away but he still have a problem. And now he calls everybody who sends teams after the first deadline cheats too despite the fact everybody can make change to their teams anyway and nobody posted their teams here? Everybody have the same chances so what is the problem?

This basically. Skidmark pushed the deadline back an entire day for everyone so everybody can make changes if they so desire, also Jancouver. I don't see how this is in any way cheating.

I guess I will also post some stats for my team.

I have 27 WT and 6 PCT riders

3 on each of Katusha, Sky, Trek, BMC, Astana
2 on Bardiani, Caja Rural, Abu Dhabi, Orica, FDJ
1 on AG2R, Androni, Bahrain, Bora, CCC, Lotto-Soudal, Movistar, QuickStep

14 different nationalities are on my team, with Italy being the most represented nation with 11 riders.
I also have 4 Swiss riders ( ), 3 Spanish and 2 riders each from France, Russia, Belgium and Australia.

The points distribution is as follows:
4 riders >500
2 riders 301-500
4 riders 201-300
10 riders 101-200
8 riders 51-100
5 riders 0-50

My team is rather young, the average age is 25,5
4 riders >30
7 riders 28-30
7 riders 25-27
15 riders <25

I like my team in the sense that I like the riders, I highly doubt I'll do as well as last year. I feel my team is less balanced (too many WT riders), I have too few Belgians and classics riders and I definitely lack sprinters for the French calendar (I have one, although he isn't French). I may have gone overboard with the Italian neo pros & Swiss youngsters but it'll be interesting to follow them. :)

I have two Italians. I am now worried that I have missed somebody obvious.
Looking at my list of Italians, I only see 2-3, maybe 4 that are "obvious" in my eyes, although I don't think any of them are as obvious as say Kittel last year, or in other words "must-haves". But hey, maybe I missed that one must-have Italian as well :p

4 riders >500
4 riders 301-500
7 riders 201-300
6 riders 101-200
6 riders 51-100
6 riders 0-50

I would say that one of my Italians is obvious, but I know a lot less about cycling and this game than you do!!!!

I don't know about that :p I think our definition of "obvious" could be different

Let's see tomorrow if we have the same Italians :)

You are right, looking at all teams, changing or submitting teams PAST the deadline is not cheating. It is more like using the TUE exceptions. Maybe legal, but ethically wrong.

Go WIGGO!

Please, skidmark said he moved the submission deadline. I don't see how it can be considered cheating to change or submit your team before the deadline as specified by the game organizer. The rules are equal for everyone. You could change your team as well, if you so desire, but I don't think we have more info now than we had one day ago.

I have never played this game but one italian rider looks as an absolute must have to me. Surely the easiest pick I made.

Publication is 4.5 hours away! I have 128 teams as of now, if I'm counting correctly... I'll update the second post with the current list, it just changed so much in the last day it was hard to do more than just enter the teams. Either way, publication deadline is my favourite time of year, where we all reveal and dissect our teams. It's like waiting to open Christmas presents.

Last thing I'm gonna say about deadlines and fairness - I haven't seen any reason why it would be unfair, so I'm not going to change the rules that I laid out in the initial post (which said I could accept teams at my discretion after submission deadline) after the fact, and I'll keep them the same for next year. It's great to have two deadlines to give me a chance to look over the teams to note changes that need to be made and get the spreadsheet together for publication soon after the deadline, and in the two years I've done it I don't feel like people have taken advantage of the second deadline to 'wait' to submit their teams - if anything, there are a few stragglers that are grateful they can still take part. It actually just seems to me like I'm offering to do more work for people so they can be included in the game, so getting yelled at and then having my questions as to what is unfair about it ignored just seems to be something I should not continue to address.

So good luck everyone!

Don't feed the troll. Let him talk, don't lower yourself to his level.

@Skidmark, not necessary to change the rules. Good luck and thanks for running the game again this year.
