Is it a WT decision or CQ Decision?
UCI/World Tour has the same categorisation, CQ follows it. Don't know why the UCI upgrades the TDU.
That's true for the 2.WT3 category, but the distinction between 2.WT1 and 2.WT2 is made by CQ alone.
But in 2017 the UCI followed CQ, see the PDF in http://www.uci.ch/pressreleases/single-points-scale-for-calculating-the-uci-world-ranking-and-uci-worldtour-rankings-from-207/
Oh, I see. But it still doesn't make sense to me. When I see the categories for the classics, CQ doesn't follow UCI (who has AGR and F-W in different categories, unlike CQ), so why should they do that for the stage races? UCI and their rankings suck balls, there's absolutely no need to copy them.

Hi Ludwig, you have the wrong price for Ilya. If I'm not mistaking his price is 372 points, even though a closer inspection could have one wondering if the price was 115 instead. (see the OP for rules regarding (doping) suspended riders)

On another matter, I know that skidmark prefers the team list to only consist of names without prices, when you send it to him, but in this case it allowed me to spot your mistake ;)

Just finished my team! I ended up with 23 Italians and 2 other guys that are not Italians but compete for Italian teams.(a guy from Belarus and a Colombian)

The other 8 riders are all favorites of mine or must have picks. Their nationalities are:

1 from Germany
1 from Maroc
1 from Netherlands
1 from GB
2 from Australia
1 from Spain
1 from Russia

This team is very interesting and will be very interesting to follow!

Sometimes I wonder how come so many send in their teams with the scores after the name. It has been stated a countless number of times that all you should send is the name.

Team submitted. Has been the most trickiest year yet in terms of finalising my selection and being relatively happy with it.

15 under 100
6 101 to 200
4 201 to 300
1 401 to 500
7 500 +

Italy is most represented nation with 7 riders and then Belgium with 4.
Average age of just over 25. Youngest rider is 20 and oldest is 33.

Hope for a better year than last year. Good luck to all.

Hey all, so just under 5 hours until submission deadline and about 105 teams in, but they're coming fast and furious. I'm out for the day until after the deadline, so I just wanted to address something a few people have brought up on PM. Due to the deadline being a few days earlier than usual, and the fact that Velorooms was down for about ten days, alot of people are scrambling to make teams. The publication deadline is technically for changes to be made on teams with errors that I discover, but as no teams will be revealed and the first CQ points are yet to be awarded, I see no problem accepting entries right up until the publication deadline, which is 24 hours after the first (submission) deadline. After that, though, there will be no exceptions - just get me your team by 23:59 CET on January 3rd and you will be part of the game.

Guys, I am really curious to see how do my picks match yours. And how many unique picks there will be.

You just have to wait for another 24 hours you know. Teams can be published only 25 hours and 15 minutes from now.

It seems like a team mostly picked with the heart, which I find admirable. Can't do it myself, since I am very competitive-minded (not that it does me any good all the time, LOL). I don't think you'll be top50 with that team, but less might do it for you. ;)

It'll be interesting to see which three guys you spent more than half your budget on, though - not much bell curve in your team :)

If Valverde gets close to or exceeds 3k, he should absolutely be a good pick.

just submitted my final version.
I have a stupid number of Spaniards and Colombians, 6 each. no other country has more than 3 representatives.
on the team front I have 4 Movistar and rather surprisingly 3 Sky.
7 of the riders return from last year, 3 of whom lost me points, 4 of whom gained me points. there is also a guy who I very nearly picked last year, in the end I am glad I did not as he scored less.
I have 21 WT, 10 PC and 2 Continental riders.
I have 1 0 score rider and my highest is below 800.

as I spent the whole of last season in the bottom 10, I hope to do at least better than that this time around. it was my first go though so I have theoretically learnt some things, let's see if it actually works...

never put my points breakdown so here goes:

601-800 -> 3
401-600 -> 4
201-400 -> 4
101-200 -> 10
51-100 -> 5
1-50 -> 6
0 -> 1

I was new last year and really enjoyed the game. Team submitted for 2017 now.

I found it perhaps more difficult to pick the team this year, as there were so many inexpensive picks that were really attractive. I'm guessing we will be seeing lots of quite different teams.

If you manage to make some good cheap picks with the three or so spots he frees up (compared to picking four 500-or-so point riders instead of Valverde), then picking Bala is definitely a viable strategy if you're willing to gamble on him reaching 3000. Anything less than 3000 would be insufficient, I think.

Doing this is very far from optimising your chances to win, and nobody has pulled off something like this yet, but I think the strategy is valid enough if you have quite a bit of luck (and more importantly, no bad luck!).

For some reason I was certain the deadline was 5/1 so just luckily seeing it was today 45 minutes before deadline I ended up in big panic and sending my team 23:58, as I still had some big decisions I had not decided yet, especially with two 600+ riders where I was undecided which one to take if not making room for both sacrificing some 200-400 pointers, and also had not decided on the several combinations for the last spots depending on that decision, but in a way it was nice to be forced to just decide in a hurry so it will not destroy my sleap the next days:) First saw that the deadline could have been accepted until tomorrow after sending the PM, but that is fine so that I now can focus on finishing the Youth-Competiton team. And despite missing out on a couple of riders I really would have liked to include both with my head and with my heart and also having to include 1 or 2 riders that I am not too convinced will be good enough picks I am okay satisfied with my team, and hope it will be competitive.

My team ended up like this without revealing too much:

7498 points used

500+ : 3
499-150: 17
0-149: 13

Countries with most riders:

1. Italy,
2. Belgien

OK team submitted. No idea how it will go as it was a very much race to meet the deadline deal this year. I always plan to start earlier but then remember and check only to find the deadline is in 10 hours and I should be sleeping for 8 of them
Will need to do a full break down but think it should be an interesting team, if not a super competitive one. I am sure I've missed super obvious picks in the rush but I'm not unhappy with the team.
Will need to check but pretty sure it probably has the least Aussies in my team ever

OK Update with some details:
18 countries
Most Aussie and Spanish riders (5 each)

0-100: 13
100-250: 9
250-500: 6
500+ : 5

Average age of 27

13 spare CQ points

Who cares that people are scrambling? Yes, people are flakes, just gets used to it.

Yeah, sure, we have deadline and rules, but it is OK to submit or change your team after the deadline. Every year the same S..T. :cool:

People are late or making changes after the deadline and you even encourage it. I just don't get it.

... and you are surprised I can't take your own team seriously ... I know, you just want to adjust your team based on the latest schedule announcements ... LOL

Can you at least mark all those late submissions so I know who the flakes/cheaters are?
