Nice to move up one place to 25th even though my week wasn't too great. Because my only major scorer was Bettiol who is so popular I was a little worried, but the lesser scores added up to an ok total.

An underwhelming lineup, I have to hope Hamilton and Gaudu can get a good GC placing. Hamilton started off alright in the TT, Gaudu was pretty terrible. Felline would normally have a shot at some stage points but is obviously still not in good shape. I have no expectations for Conci, the field is way too stacked to get anything from this race. Mark Padun started his season in the time trial yesterday but finished dead last, I hoped he'd lost time on purpose to get into the breakaway but today he is a DNS due to knee tendinitis, definitely not a good sign.

This is the moment for Walscheid, he was 6th last year and if he does worse, it will be hard to see him become a decent pick.

What, no Küng?! I sure hope that's a mistake, otherwise I'll be really disappointed. This is the one race among the spring classics that should really suit his huge power and big weight, and he was Groupama's best finisher in most of the Belgian races + Strade Bianche. At least Cortina is on the startlist, as I feel the same is true for him (struggles on the climbs due to his weight) and I'm anxious to see him race here.

I didn't have many expectations coming in, although I hoped Lambrecht would show something as he's been worryingly invisible. After a bad TT performance, today he did indeed show something with that impressive uphill sprint. I have to remind myself that after Itzulia last year he only had 48 points, which he now equals after stage 2 this year. And that punch bodes well for upcoming races like Brabantse Pijl and Fleche Wallone.

There's no reason MvdP shouldn't win this, and he won the 80-rider sprint today so that's a good start. Cosnefroy is a wild card - this is exactly the kind of race I want him for, but he DNFd two pretty easy races last week and has been nowhere on the results sheet thus far. At least he finished in the field today; on his day I'd expect him to be a real contender for the overall. Barbier/Coquard/Bouhanni should feature tomorrow (and Coquard did today), and Navardauskas... well, he's won this race twice, but finished 50 seconds down on an easy stage. I thought he might refind some results on a French team now that his health issues are in the rearview, but oh well.

Lol, now my wildest long shot (Carlos Julián Quintero) is making top 10s in Itzulia.
He hasn't gotten more than 5 measly points in the last three and a half years.
He was 9th so just outside the points but he'll surely get some points for this performance and may be good in the many Spanish stage races in the next couple of months.

However, my team in Itzulia is a disaster, my two cards for the GC, Hamilton and Gaudu, are already quite far back. Hamilton did a good TT but dropped out of contention yesterday after trying to help Yates chase back to the peloton, and Gaudu did a poor TT, finished alright yesterday but was caught up in the crash today. He didn't lose too much time ("only" 25 seconds), but together with the TT losses, it looks like an uphill battle to score some decent points.

Meanwhile Bouhanni seems like a terrible pick. Absolutely no motivation at Circuit de la Sarthe, yet again. I thought the little diva might get his act together in a contract year, but boy was i wrong.

Update #14: Object Takes the Lead by the Slimmest of Margins
I think many cycling fans would join me in saying that the week of the Ronde-Itzulia-Roubaix sandwich is arguably the most enjoyable of the year. In this game, however, it was not quite as lucrative for many teams as other weeks we have had. There is certainly some shakeup, however, and the top of the standings is about as close as I can ever remember it being at any significant point into the season.

Somehow my team managed to move up 4 sports. Two more of my boys are in positive territory (Sergio Samitier and Jake Stewart) and just need Victor de la Parte to finish a race that gives points all the way back to get him into positive territory.
Now I just need a podium or preferrably a win from Coquard at Brabantse Pijl. That would be a huge help.

Wauw... I have participated from year one in this awesome game, and this is the first time i am rank 1. I am primarily a lurker in this forum, but I am really enjoying all the activity in here. Thank you all for being active when I am not. And especialy thank you to skidmark and all of you that helps out during the year.

Thanks for the update! After a horrendous start that saw my team dopping out of the TOP100, the last three weaks have been great for me. First in monthly ranking by more than 100 points, and a variety of scorers too with Bettiol, Asgreen, Politt, McNulty and Schachmann as main protagonists. Hoping for a good week for Kudus in Turkey now!

I somehow managed to hold position this week, was sure I was dropping down.
MVP with some unknown points and a 10th in paris roubaix for Langeveld with a smattering elsehwere.
Looks like it was low across the board which was my saving grace.

Thanks for the update skidmark. It's nice to see my team keep rising in the standings after big rides by Senechal and Cosnefroy last week. Thanks to Van der Poel, Lambrecht and Bettiol my team should enjoy one more good week.
