The degree of bad luck is definetly nothing special in this game or even for my own team, but still super annoying, in the danish national championships where one of my rarest and so far least succesful picks Julius Johansen was on his way to a certain top 2 finish and losing it by puncturing in the last few kms just when he was about to catch Alexander Kamp so they could have fought it out.

Cost of at least 55 points, which is no dissaster in the big picture, but I suppose also a result that could have given him some needed confidence and perhaps a few more chances for himself, and it this game it just feels extra annoying. And being so close to the temporary number 1 spot now makes it ofcourse also more annoying to lose points like that.

But I hope he will still be able to take some confidence from it so he can end up a decent pick afterall. I cant recall many riders ever looking as angry as he did afterwards, so hopefully that anger can be used constructively :)

For the TDF its a bit of a blow with Sam Bennet not getting to go, but hopefully he will use it positive and perhaps get some easier points in some other races instead.

Update 25: Wout delivers win for v1lat

Weekly Scores

With just the first couple of stages from the Tour de France and the Sibiu tour on offer this week, it was hardly the time for major shake-ups. Van Aert's consistency has pushed him to the top of the rankings in France (or should I say Denmark ?), and has pushed v1lat, the only manager brave enough to select the versatile Belgian, to the top of the weekly ranking. All he did afterall was deliver 190 out of 193 points for v1lat. Shoutout to Mikel Nieve for providing the rest. Jakobsen is the only popular rider to score a big chunk of points this week and NorthAmericanScum pairs him with the much rarer Ganna and Sagan for second place. Bicycle_Boy completes the podium with a Van der Poel, Sagan and Jakobsen combo. Sam2837 and repre (both with Jakobsen and Pedersen) complete the top 5.

Highest Movers
Rufs, Poles & Co. and repre all move up a couple spots courtesy of Jakobsen's stage win.

Green Jersey
v1lat and Otoxiep87 score their first point in the competition leaving a single scoreless team. The top of the table remains unchanged.

GC
EITB scores just two points this week but still has a comfortable buffer. Elsewhere in the top10, Devil's Elbow and search swap places. NielsB follows last week's win with another magic trick. They enter the top 10 despite scoring just 7 points this week. Nobody leaves though as we have a tie for 10th.

Dropbox link: Update 25

Skidmark should be back next week for the update which I hope will deliver more points across the board.

If Pidcock also drops out of GC contention we're in for an astonishingly low-scoring Tour GC week pretty much across the board.
Even if most teams won't have leading GC contenders there's still a ton of points on offer. 100 points for 15th, nearly 50 for 30th and 20 points for every finisher. Guys like Kämna and Pinot are pretty popular and could get a bunch of stage points in the last week also. There's a couple teams with Pogacar who are going to rocket up the standings also.

Outside of 2012 and 2021 which are by far the highest scoring years ever, the best post-TDF score is 11574 so we are very much still on pace for one of the best editions even with a below average Tour.

Update #26: 18-Valve takes top spot

Hi everyone, thanks to Jumbo Visma Fan and EvansIsTheBest for taking over the updates the last few months! Now I'm back in action.

This week in the game was typical of the first week of the Tour - relatively limited with only stage points on offer, and one 2.1 race in Romania for counter-programming to the biggest race of the year. Let's run through the results!

18-Valve.(pithy) clears 500 points and then some, thanks largely to being one of the three teams that decided to pick the rider with the highest cost possible in Tadej Pogacar. The unsurprising Tour leader's stage and jersey points brought in a modest haul (for him) of 295 points for the week, meaning with Pogacar alone you would be in the top 10 teams this week. 18-Valve also saw some good results from a finally-back-in-form Bob Jungels (82 points, 63 teams) and a promising showing from Cian Uitjdebroeks (74 points, 52 teams), as well as a solid ride from Andrea Piccolo (45 points, 17 teams), who was in limbo the whole season with the Gazprom situation until recently.

The other two teams on the podium were unsurprisingly the other teams with Pogacar, although edkDeus and firefly3323 didn't have Uitjdebroeks' points to keep up with 18-Valve.

Things are stable at the top of this ranking; Lortnoc is the only team in the top 5 that garnered points this week, and their team was already in 5th but closed the gap to 4th by 12 points.

No change at the top this week as scores were somewhat subdued - EITB still has a healthy lead but lost just over 50 points to squire and over 100 to MADRAZO, so the podium is a bit more compressed. No new entries to the top 10 this week, although NielsB drops out as they were in a tie for 10th last week.

This week, it's more Tour stage points, with no other races above .2 level for another week and a half. It may be the case that the Pogacar teams shine once more.

Update #27: It's a Mads Mads World

Another fairly quiet week in the CQ game, with the Tour only offering stage and yellow jersey points, and being big enough to clear the calendar of other point-scoring opportunities.

It was a verrry close race at the top this week, with escartin taking the win by a single point. All of the top 3 on the week were among the 10 that selected Mads Pedersen this year, and he came through this week with a handy 115 points. escartin also got help from Pidcock finally getting a good result this year (80 points, 59 teams), Bettiol (50 points, 35 teams) and Pinot (35, 63). And for all that, without 2 points from Karel Vacek getting 2nd on a stage of the U23 race in Aosta, escartin would have been in 2nd for the week instead. BlueRoads follows closely behind, with the same top 4 scoring riders. In fact, to parse the difference between the two, they both had Pedersen, Pidcock, Bettiol and Pinot, and while escartin got 10 points from Fuglsang, BlueRoads got 10 from Ganna. Both got 4 from Kamna, and while escartin got 2 from the aforementioned Vacek, BlueRoads got 1 from Ciccone. Phew! Crevaison has exactly the same as BlueRoads save Ganna, and therefore is ten points further back in third.

Even in a small-scoring week, things will move around a bit if it's tight enough, and indeed this is the case in the race for 2nd/3rd spot. MADRAZO outscores Squire by 10 points on the week, but leaps into 2nd overall. Both teams get a fair bit closer to EITB at the top, as their team only pulled in 39 points this week and lost 81 and 91 to Squire and MADRAZO respectively. With GC points from the biggest race on the season in the upcoming week, there could very well be some shakeup. No new entries/exits from the top 10 this week.

Oh no! Beaten by one point!

As expected I'll lose the top spot when the Tour GC comes out. Overall the race has been a disaster in term of scoring points. The most frustrating part is that my picks don't even suck they just don't convert their rides in points. That's the best Mühlberger has looked all year (damning with faint praise I know) and Simmons is going for like the most impressive 0 point ride of all time I guess. Evenepoel, Girmay and Higuita have some slack to pick up when they start racing again.
