I may have gone a little overboard with the patriotic picks (Norwegians).
I didn't know that you're Norwegian. I'm looking forward to seeing your team to get to know a few more Norwegian talents (assuming they - or some at least - are up and coming riders and not bounce backs).

I'm half swedish and half norwegian (mother is norwegian). I live in Sweden though but my sports interest got heavily influenced by my norwegian grandmother.

You're guaranteed to have one guy who I couldn't fit in, but who I think is really exciting and probably off the radar for a lot of people here. It's gonna be a tough season of cheering for him and hoping he does well, but not so well that I really regret not picking him! :D

Perhaps. There were some other Norwegians I could have picked but who in the end turned out to be too expensive for how I think they'll do. Will have to tell me once the teams are revealed who you were thinking of.

I am also Norwegian, but could only fit in two from Norway for this year. There were one guy who didn't get into the final team, that I would really have liked to have. But I guess meeting his father at a party this summer is really not the best reason to select a rider :D?!

As you live in Sweden, I don't know how familiar you are with the Norwegian language, but his intials resemble a modern Norwegian slang word for "of course". :D But yeah, I'm looking forward to discussing all sorts of Norwegians after the reveal. I only have three of them.

Eligible for the Women's CQ Game: 0

Oh, really?
Perhaps not. I think most of them can be easily justified as decent picks for the competition so it's not pure patriotism.

Mine is pure patrionism! :D And I also wanted to make a National Themed Team that actually followed the theme 100%, unlike Samu's "Basque team, but with a random (non-Basque) French guy" team from last year's game.
I do think I have some fairly decent picks, though.

Oh, you changed it from Amharic to Tigrinya. I was curious about who the Amharic speaker was. I did manage to find an Amharic speaker that would be a potential pick for this game so I thought that might be who you had picked but if it's Tigrinya instead then it's a little more obvious who it is I think.
I said it was assumed language: I assumed that two countries share a language, and checked later to see that they don't. And given the history between them, I really should have guessed that they would be distinct peoples.

Team sent in now finally today. Thought I had my team almost ready a week ago, just with some small cheep choise combinations to decide left, but ended up making a lot of big changes in the last 2 days, after for instance changing my mind about the most expensive option for instance. I have a history of picking very conservative teams, but have tried to be less conservative this year as the other has not really given the results I wanted, but lets see when the statistiscs comes if it turns out if Im actually still conservative compared to the rest or not. I looking forward to see everyones team.

When the spreadsheet comes out, you can paste your 33 riders into the page that I think will probably be called '2024 points', give them 1 point each, and then the main results page will show you how many riders you have in common with each other team.
That's what I do to make a Team similarity tab in the games I do, but there is a lot of copying and pasting involved, and to do it for upwards of 100 teams would be a mammoth task.
Unless someone much more skilled in Excel than I am knows a more efficient way.
I like to just copy paste the score of my 33 picks. That gives you the amount of points that you have spent on similar riders with other teams which is arguably a better metric for how closely teams mirror each other.

Sharing Pogacar or sharing some random 20 point rider isn't the same at all and I feel using points spent reflects that better (though you get no points for sharing 0 pointers so it's not perfect either).

You could get both pieces of info by posting 100000+cost for each rider. First one or two digits tells you how many shared riders, the thousands and lower place values tell you the relevance of the overlap.

Hi Jakob!

And the same to you. Your teams are usually the least conservative of all I suppose :) But always very interesting to see and especially to see what South American super talents you have discovered that I have barely heard of :) I think we might at least have one such rider (one of the more well known ones though) in common this time :)

Just sent my team!

This sounds very similar to my process! My final change was also my most expensive rider, brought about by some news. But that happened about a week ago, and I haven't made any changes since, despite humming and hawing a lot. That's a good sign, at least. Although I'm not extremely confident. There are so many potential gems this year and only 33 spots in the team. I fear that I'm missing out on a new De Lie or two.

Some statistics:

500-1000: 2
300-499: 7
200-299: 3
100-199: 15
50-99: 2
0-49: 4

Italy: 6
UK: 5
Belgium: 4
Colombia: 3
Norway: 3
Netherlands: 2
Ireland: 2
USA: 2
Six countries with one each.

IGD: 6
SOQ: 3
DFP: 3
TVL: 3
UAD: 3
EFE: 3
COF: 2
IWA: 2
Eight teams with one each.

15 riders who scored less than 100 points in 2022.

Seven riders returning from my 2023 team. Not sure if that's a good thing.

All about risk management this year. ;)Nah either we bang or we get Vansevenant¨...

Not one stone left unturned though.

Like some others I've gone for a themed team this year as well. The theme being non-WT.

Not 100% though as I thought if Nans Peters can join the Basque Brigade then I can have a single WT rider (but not Nans). However some unfortunate news today means that after some shuffling that number has jumped to two (still no Nans!).

Good luck all.
Talking about whether you have any nans in your team is just inviting me to come in with another hint about the women's CQ game, in which you can name as many nans as you wish (although the likelihood of many of them being good scorers is very low). Some of the teams that are already in include mothers though...

Well, I spent a lot of time in Norway during summers and holidays so I picked up Norwegian while I was learning to speak so I understand it without a problem. But since I'm more of a heritage speaker I'm not really familiar with any modern slang. Only word I can think of for of course is selvfölgelig but that is not slang so.

Okay so it's 3 hours until submission deadline, but still 27 hours until publication deadline. Just as a reminder, this means:

1) Do not publish your teams on the thread until midnight CET January 4th, ie in 27 hours! The delay is to allow me to receive all the teams as sent and allow for any errors (over budget etc) to be fixed or other issues to be dealt with.

2) Because the game doesn't officially start until the publication deadline (and nobody has any advantage before then since teams are still secret), I will be accepting new entries right up until the publication deadline. So if you do not get in by the 'submission deadline', still send to me plz! You just won't have the opportunity to fix things if there have been mistakes.

I suspect the second point might be more relevant this year as the start is as early as ever, so many participants may generally have the idea that it starts early January but haven't checked the thread yet.

Currently still about 25 teams from the participation numbers last year, but I would imagine there could be a flurry of fairly late entries before it's all said and done.

Its the slang/shortened word for "selvfølgelig" he is thinking of. I have the same rider
