Update #28: postmanhat parlays a great week to get to the podium

This update included mostly San Sebastien points and some minor races, so generally scores were low, but one team stood out among the rest.

This Week's Top Scorers

Giulio Ciccone earned 220 points for his 9 owners, so those teams had a massive leg up in a low scoring week. Team postmanhat was head and shoulders above the rest, scoring 512 thanks not only to Ciccone but also good hauls from Nielson Powless (76 points, 5 teams), Luke Plapp (66, 20), and Juan Ayuso (53, 11). Kazistuta comes oh-so-close (in position, if not points) to an extremely rare threepeat, following up two weekly wins with a 2nd place this week, and Nyssinator ekes out MADRAZO for the last podium spot, sans Ciccone but thanks to Isaac Del Toro (166, 8) and Jan Christen (132, 14).

Not much space to move in a slow week in August, but Nyssinator tops the single-digit-moving pack by gaining 9 spots on the week. Lortnoc and 18-Valve, both Christen holders, round out this podium.

Kazistuta rides the hot streak of 125 points in the last three weeks to get into the top 5, but nobody can touch the top 2. And Pantani4ever has to watch out, because Salvarani gains 12 points by finishing 10th on the week, pulling within 7 of the lead.

8(-3)Earns19859800
9(-)abbulf9738

The top 2 remain unassailable, and of course Salvarani moves even farther ahead after finishing 10th on the week. Weekly winner postmanhat moves up 4 spots to take 3rd overall, while lower down triley36 enters the top 10 at the expense of slow climber.

This upcoming week sees a flurry of stage races, with the WT Tour of Pologne, the 2.PS Vuelta a Burgos and Arctic Race of Norway, the 2.1 Tour de L'Ain as well as the likely less CQ-game-relevant but still 2.1 Volta a Portugal and Trans-Himalaya Cycling Race. Oh! And the prestigious but 2.2 Vuelta a Colombia, the famous-for-guys-cheating 2.2 Tour de la Guadaloupe, and a few other 2.2 races. Phew! August is busy!

So, net GC result of that Burgos crash on stage 1:
-80 points for 9 Ciccone teams
40 points for 8 Del Toro teams
14 points for 37 Bisiaux teams
8 points for 12 Pellizzari teams

With the current first place, third place and one of the joint sixth place teams (mine) having Ciccone, it could definitely impact the final order of the top-10.

But you and me are the only ones in the game with the Ciccone and Bisiaux combo ;)

And there are only two teams with Del Toro and Bisiaux.

Del Toro + Pellizzarri... also only two teams.

Charmig gets 20 points for finishing 15th in the GC in ARN.
Kamp gets 10 points for finishing 26th in the GC in Poland.
Salby gets a total of 8 points for 3rd and 4th on stages in Himalaya
Changizi and Johansen each get 5 "well at least you finished" points from Poland. (This also sees Johansen move into profit)

Hopefully, I'm gonna get some points this coming week.

Update #29: LosBrolin's team is the Strongest

There were a flurry of stage races this past week everywhere from the Arctic to the Iberian peninsula. This was reflected by a wide range of scores, and some teams scored real big.

This Week's Top Scorers

RankTeamPoints this week
1LosBrolin1017
2triley36848
3EvansIsTheBest801
4Blues in the bottle790
5Crevaison746

LosBrolin cracks an amazing 1000 points this week and is the only team to do so; one big advantage their team has is the unique pick Corbin Strong getting 229 points for winning in Norway. But not far behind is the 204 points for Antonio Tiberi (9 teams), and some solid contributions from (finally!) Cian Uijtdebroeks (140, 80) and Leo Bisiaux (138, 37). In 2nd place is triley36, who gets 848 points on the backs of Isaac Del Toro (170, 8), Jan Christen (151, 14), Uijtdebroeks, Giulio Pellizzari (88, 12) among others, while former winner EvansIsTheBest nabs 3rd thanks to Christen/Uijtdebroeks/Bisiaux.

LosBrolin is the double winner this week, leading the High Movers ranking by a fair bit after gaining 16 spots on the week from the 1000 points their team scored. EITB gets third again here too, meaning Crevaison is the podium newbie, moving up 9 Tiberi/Del Toro/Uijtdebroeks/Bisiaux.

No change at the very top, but postmanhat gains 10 points to jump into the top 5 here. Still close at the top between Pantani4ever and Salvarani, and still not very close to all the rest.

8(-2)Popchu10492
9(-)abbulf10348
10(+1)slow_climber10339

Salvarani's lead is still an unassailable 1000+ points, but Qazaqstan falls from 2nd after a very long stint there, with postmanhat's hot streak bringing their team into the runner-up spot. Things are actually fairly close apart from the runaway leader, with less than 500 points separating 2nd and 10th, and triley36 takes advantage of a good week with a 5 spot leap. slow climber is the only top 10 entrant, at the expense of Earns1985 who falls out.

This week of August sees the tour of Denmark take up the 2.PS points, the 2.1 Czech Tour (and end of 2.1 Portugal tour) down lower, and the 1.WT Cyclassics race in Germany.

Pretty nice to see some riders finally show signs of life these past few weeks. Uijtdebroeks, Bisiaux and Bouchard all had their best weeks of the season last week and suddenly De Schuyteneer pulls off his first seriously good sprint of the season too.

Sixth on the week this past update wasn't too shabby either, pleasantly surprised at how well my team is building momentum en route to a Vuelta where I have Vingegaard and Ciccone.

Biggest disappointments this year until now in my team and popular in this game:

- Niklas Behrens
- Hugh Carthy

Both are not even close of scoring something significant, not at all for the whole year until now...

Well, Carthy can't be that much of a surprise.

Behrens has indeed had a tough season. Hopefully, he can ride some Belgian non-WT one-days and score a few points in the remainder of the season.

Nice little result from Söderqvist in the ITT in Denmark. Hopefully he can hang in for a good GC. Speaking of GC, Gloag and Uijtdebroeks should dominate the field of the Czech Tour. Then it's Van Aert, Magnier and Christen time in Hamburg. Could end up as another solid week.

Conditional on the information available at deadline, Van Aert has had a pretty good schedule and freedom, and relatively little misfortune. Meanwhile, Vingegaard lost something like 500-700 points with his crash in PN, and yet he will easily win my pre-season bet if he finishes the Vuelta.

Meh...

Kragh gets 6th in the GC in Denmark, and 5th on a stage: 65 points.
Skjelmose gets 8th in the GC in Denmark: 50 points.
Lund gets 13th in Hamburg: 30 points.
Bevort gets 12th in the GC in Denmark: 29 points.
Foldager gets 15th in the GC in Denmark: 20 points.
Stokbro gets 20th in the GC in Denmkar: 11 points, and into profit.
Johansen gets 25th in the GC in Denmark: 6 points.
Norsgaard, Pedersen, Asgreen, and Valgren each finished in Hamburg: 5 points each.
Nielsen gets 47th in the GC in Denmark: 5 points.
Blume and Price-Pejtersen both gets 5th on a stage in Denmark: 3 points each (then Blume was a complete idiot trying to keep up with Mads P. in Vejle, completely exploding and losing his top-10 in the GC. While)

I feel like this could have been a much shorter message if you just started with something like: 'these were my results in Denmark' and finished with the few results in Hamburg.
