i was a lil worried about Swifty, but thankfully he had his wits about him..

"Ben Swift ‏@swiftybswift 2h2 hours ago

Due to a sudden over night sickness I won't be starting #VoltaCatalunya today. Time to take a little break and get ready for my next races."

sort of a last resort move, but nice save nonetheless! #unwaveringfocus

Apparently the legacy of previous injuries (especially shoulder) is that he is in pain most of the time he's on a bike and it especially hurts to sprint. So this would explain why he doesn't fully let loose in the sprint, eg at MSR.

Sagan and Swift to both ride Tour of Cali?

Even there, neither of them will manage to win a stage. :D

I think Sagan won at least 1 stage in every Tour of California that he raced.

California, TdS and the NC - won at least 1 stage every year in the first 2 since 2011 and 100% for the NC in that period.

well that threw my rhythm completely.. a serious and compassionate response?! i did not see this coming..
i think i will no longer be able to continue my support for him in this competition :(
i've become unmasked, cracks are starting to appear

Baptiste Planckaert solo'ed off the peloton today so he didn't have to contend for the sprint for another top-ten place... in a 2.2 race. He's obviously in great form, I think he'll be good in this competition all year unless he goed full-Timothy Dupont.

As has been noted, the list has lost some significant names in the past couple of weeks.

13 - B. Swift, R. Bardet
10 - G. Nizzolo, T. Gallopin, J. Van Genechten
9 - D. Ulissi, A. Fonseca, R. Kreder
8 - Ser. Henao, Jes. Herrada, A. Delaplace, S. Modolo, B. Planckaert, M. Canola, A. Giacoppo, F. Gavazzi, T. Benoot
7 - F. Chicchi, M. Kolar, S. Haddi, R. Costa, P. Simion
6 - N. Bonifazio, F. Mancebo, T. Van Der Sande, D. Smith, R. Feillu, A. Geniez, M. Cherel, P. Serry, R. Navardauskas, M. Busato
5 - P. Latour, A. Jeannesson, S. Vanmarcke, J. Simon, W. Wippert, F. Aru, B. Jones, B. Jarrier, M. Hofland, N. Politt, G. Visconti, C. Barbero, R. Majka, J. Pantano, S. Kragh Andersen, A. Capiot, D. Pozzovivo, G. Ciccone, M. Sarreau, D. Navarro, S. Chernetckii, E. Afewerki

Swift scheduled for AGR, for which he is a perennial outsider, and then the Tour de Yorkshire, where I can see him actually getting a win. Henao is expected to do well in the Basque Country. Gallopin will get a win somewhere. I'm less sure about the lottery of the sprinters and where Bardet's next win comes from.

A lot of strong competition this year. Last year at this stage Planckaert was leading on 10 and no one else had reached double digits yet.
