Girmay is too high on the list but he won't last.

Champoussin, he should really go for it.

I would love to see Bardet take it. But I don't think he is good enough.
Bardet will retire in a week so he'll be short of races to really compete with the big boys.
Astana has a number of options so hard to look past them.

A few years ago there wouldn't have been (m)any Quickstep riders in there because about 15 of them would have won a race by now. Now they don't even make top tens that often.

I've got the National Championships conundrum here.

Fernando Barceló 10th in the TT from Hazallanas to Sierra Nevada but including the U23s would push him down to 11th. (CQ has the results combined)

Seems like there was a separate U23 race being held before the Elite race, with riders simply being allowed to decide whether they raced in the U23 or the Elite category.

So, I guess that means Barcelo only got his RR top-10 out of his efforts.

But, yeah... it is confusing. For example over in the UK - and other countries - the U23 riders are simply also included in the Elite race.
Brennan got silver in the Elite RR, and he won the U23 RR.

My interpretation was that any riders at continental level or higher couldn't ride in the U23 category.

They used to do that down here (Australia), but separated the races after Will Walker's solo win.

Champoussin is the TdF.....He could put this out of reach over the next three weeks.

Champoussin lost 30 minutes on the finishing line today. I worry, that Astana have already squeezed the lemon dry out of all possible UCI points for this year. Jeannière crashed out in the first week with bad injuries. It's unlikely (in my estimation, noone elses), that he will race again this year. :(

Nope, that lemon was dry. But Lipowitz and Gall scored quite a bit. With Gall doing the Vuelta, he will be even more of a threat .

It is insane how José Joaquín Rojas managed 36 Top 10s in 2010 while finishing between 11th and 15th 16 times for 52 Top 15s without a win. These days, does anyone manage 52 Top 15s in a season? I don‘t think it‘s even close although I haven‘t checked. And then to not win at all? Pure art.

Although there are SO many MTFs in this Vuelta he’s also a threat to knock himself out of the competition.

Clement no more races on his schedule. Gall could get there in La Vuelta, TTT unlikely across Hamburg and Renewi, Lipowitz unlikely with only 3 one day races left in his schedule (Also does winning a classification in the White Jersey not count?)
