I must admit this one gave me a chuckle (from the 60 min cbs site)

"You people just relish destroying people. His life story is a
beautiful event. Your guys are a joke. Your after 60 minutes is just as bad. Grow up Pelly. Maybe your 60 minutes on cbs news will be short lived.
Scott Armstrong is one of my real heroes. And not as a cyclist but as one that beat cancer, raised untold millions for continuing cancer research.
What have you done lately Pelley, huh??????"

THat name sounds kinda 'astronaut-ish'. :D I think this person has their heroes confuzed...
"Grow up Pelly." :)

I nominate Sally Jenkins

How about Sally Jenkins whole book "Every second Counts" as the best fanboy (or fangirl) comment.

BTW, has she chimed in anywhere yet? Kinda embarrassing for her to be so close write the book and be so clueless. I suppose she got paid so good for her.

I've been watching the local paper to see her view on this. My ample gut says she will defend him. Sally's probably a fangirl.

Your soaring sarcasm reveals your jealousy. Lance Armstrong isn't a nice guy. He's never going to be your friend or mine. I think that bothers you and a lot of other people.

His foundation is crucial in the fight against cancer, though. You sort of washed over that part. He is tireless in this arena. And LIVESTRONG isn't focused on raising money for research, just so you know. You can visit LIVESTRONG.org and learn more.

You should get involved. Maybe you could encourage a 5 year old who's going through chemo - or convince a legislator who's about to cut funding for research to think twice about it.
Perhaps you could use you extensive network and host a fundraiser at your condo? Spin up some Arcade Fire and throw some shrimp on.

Regardless of the outcome of this investigation - most of us are headed for cancer in some shape or form. Cancer is a beast. My father had melanoma. It eats you alive. It is a painful, excruciating death that makes any sport look childish and insincere.

Cancer is the real story.

Dude, you are going to have to cite a sample survey in proportion to a population or cite a number of sources with a statement like that

is that really worse than pulling the wool over a cancer kids eyes with a foundation as a front for fraud?

Wow. Is there really enough tin foil in the world to make all those hats?

This must be Richard Virenque. "No positive test = no doping."

also something Michael Rasmussen feels very aggrieved about.

I think even Lance would get a chuckle from these comments!

Understandable though. Admitting that he is indeed a prolific taker of PED's is admitting that you're stupid for believing in him. It will take time.

Some of these are so far out I'm not sure if they are serious or intended as parodies of Armstrong supporters:

I never took much notice of these comments until the past few days, reading the responses to the CBS program. I don’t archive them, but some stick in my mind.

I think it’s justifiable to point these out, because so much of the support for Armstrong is now based on ignorance, and one of the main weapons against ignorance is exposure, and when that ignorance is willful, ridicule. If someone says, I know he doped, I know he cheated, I know he lied, and maybe he even took advantage of cancer, too, but I still respect him for all he’s done for cancer, I can respect that opinion as legitimate. But when someone’s support is based on what Will Rogers (I think) said “what folks know that just ain’t so”, that support is phony and should be held up as such. No issue can have a real debate until everyone is acquainted with and agrees on certain facts.

As soon as the show ended I watched the web-only extras. Then I immediately went to Tyler Hamilton's Facebook page. There were dozens of vile remarks left, all saying more or less the same thing. I replied to each one and said they were paid trolls working for Public Strategies and giving the URL to their "crisis management" webpage.

Immediately I was attacked by the same three or four guys repeatedly using the most vile and disgusting language imaginable. Then they started a rumor that clicking the URL to Public Strategies would install "spyware" on your computer. I guess they were afraid that people would find out what was really going on.

It seemed to have an effect because within a half-hour they all stopped posting. After that, all that got posted on Tyler's page were messages of support. Pretty clearly an organized attack, and not too hard to figure out where it came from... Now all the nasty posts have been deleted.

that was probably about the time our well known and loved 'trio' were absent from here for a while.

"Armstrong never, never, never doped." Isn't this a delicious quote? :)

One "never" may have been OK....two "nevers" was unnecessary....but three "nevers" is just wonderfully, defensively absurd. Just makes me want to give the "Heiny" a big hug....he gets so cute when he gets flustered and confused....

+1. Self-awareness is the first casualty of gloating. In fact, it's probably second after pleasantness.

So, they're fans. And they're wrong. Big deal. Let them get on with it. Who cares.

+1,000,000.

What's the big deal with having to gloat and make out like we're all some superior human being who've been enlightened? At least they're not so aggresively determined to put everyone down.

I will be more interested in the reactions of Graham Watson and all those who knew better but so shamelessly sided with Lance whilst ridiculing others like Contador etc.

This is the first forum I ever signed up to and I was amazed when I joined, not having any friends interested in cycling I used to think I was in a minority of people who could see the Lance BS. The cycling magazines really ****ed me of with there coverage of Lance, especially the second coming, I just couldnt believe it.

Since joining up here, we have had to put up with so much BS from people who dont have a clue, if you dont know what you are talking about, then better not to post and pick up as much knowledge as possible first. I dont go on other sports forums and rant and rave if I have limited knowledge of the sport. I always think of the saying "better to stay silent and let people think you are a fool rather than speak and prove you are a fool"
