And what has that got to do with solo victories?

And what did your response bring to the discussion about solo victories? We are drifting from the topic. Its just that you saying that Nibali's fanboys claim everythin he does is great sounds kind of (very) hypocritical.

And its the fact that Tour has much more value in cycling world than pretty much any other stage race, the fact that he didn't have to do it but still rode agressive that does make it memorable.

At least his attacks weren't as controversial as Quintana attack in the 'neutralized' descent. Which by the way also required some guts to do.

But Quintana didn't do any "attack" in the "neutralized" descent. Some riders stopped to put on jackets etc., a few didn't, and then they descended as separate groups with one riding as if a race was still on and one riding as if there was a neutralization. There was no attack per se by Quintana until he started burning people off the back on Val Martello.

Contador's win at TA was an epic win, but it does not qualify as a solo win. Geske was there to spoil it.

I forgot to mention Nibali's Huatacam! Emphatic!

My list:
T. Martin's TdF
Rogers's TdF
Nibali's Huatacam TdF
Phinney's TdC
Kwiatkowski's Worlds

Megalol:eek::eek:

All respect to Nibali, he was amazing this year in the Tour, but one attack from relatively far out on a MTF against mediocre competition does not qualify as best solo of the year.

Contador rode in a group, but had closed a 4minute+ gap on Lanciano, did all the pulling in the valley and still dropped everyone on the Muro.

I'd say something really qualifies as a solo when being alone actually is a disadvantage

I think they might have been responding to Cineteq.

He didn't say Nibali's was greater then Contador's though. Just that Contador's wasn't a solo (which of course it was) and mentioned Nibs as one of his favorite solos.

Was in Mulhouse for the TDF stage finish when Martin came thundering home. My God it was impressive. And that at the end of, what was it, an effectively 100K TT effort? Was just stunned at the speed he went past us compared to the 2nd group, who were going for it and a podium place. Hence, Tony gets my vote:)

Thumbs up for reading it right :)

Cineteq, go predict some more GT's and fail again like always.
I sense some jelousy in your words.

If someone dropping the favourites, catching the breakaway, having them sit on for 10 k, and then still dropping them all on the final uphill doesn't count as a solo win, I don't know what does.
Fine bro, you have a point, I disagree.

Some Nibali fans live in a fantasy world in which Nibali is a god and everything he does is amazing and epic.
Ms. double standards has spoken ;)
