Thanks!
Yes, he rode into the back of the Fenix rider.I’m still not entirely clear about what caused the fall. Was there any actual contact with Merlier or Sagan before he lost control?
Still unsure if Ewan rides the Vuelta. He won't be in top shape anyway.
Florian Vermeersch, a Classics prospect with a fast finish, will fill in for Ewan and try his hand in the sprints, leaning on Frederik Frison for support. He is one of four Grand Tour debutants in the squad, alongside Sylvain Moniquet, Maxim Van Gils, and Andreas Kron, who has enjoyed a brilliant first WorldTour season, with stage wins at the Volta a Catalunya and Tour de Suisse.
Harm Vanhoucke will be aiming for increased consistency and a possible general classification effort after impressing at the past two editions of the Giro d'Italia, while the eight-man squad is rounded out by Steff Cras and Britain's Matthew Holmes.

Ewan brushes off critics as he looks to turn around his Grand Tour fortune at the 2022 Tour de France.cyclingtips.com

More like a hell bale . . .Born for bad luck, can't catch a break. But I was impressed with his riding on cobbles today. He looked really comfortable on them. Hope he's fine, hit his head pretty hard apparently. His helmet broke in 2 pieces.
To continue the meme, he did indeed get blocked again today. This time by a hail bail.
Another disappointing Tour so far. I hope Caleb can salvage something but this seems forlorn.
It's Lotto's fault. They should have pulled him from the Giro d'Italia early on and given him a proper train at the Tour de France.
A season to forget for Caleb Ewan really.
Then you'll find in 2023 that he'll have less team support.
When’s the last time a sprinter has done the whole Giro and Tour and done well in both? 2013 no?LOL

The more Ewan struggles and De Lie performs, the more support the latter will get.
That’s my bad, for some reason I remembered him doing the whole Giro and not abandoning. He has had his fair share of bad luck but he also causes some of the issues with his positioning. When did Ewan ever do the whole Giro? He did eleven stages this year, just like every other year. Was never a problem. In 2019 he won 2 stages in the Giro and 3 in the Tour. His form right now is also not the problem. Proven by how good he was riding on the cobbles yesterday before he got taken out by something completely out of his hand. His team isn't either. It's always the same, meeh meeh Lotto doesn't have a good train. Ewan was with Jakobsen (who won) in stage 2 with 300m to go, Ewan was next to Groenewegen (who won) in stage 3 with 200 to go. Placement wasn't the issue. The only sprinter here who got a good leadout was Van Aert. Jakobsen didn't and Groenewegen didn't either. Lotto kept Ewan out of throuble 2 whole stages long, every single rider on the team was there to help him and it will be the same next year too. He's called the Pocket Rocket for a reason. He wins by coming out of a wheel in the last 50-75m meters, not by having doing a 200m sprint like a Jakobsen type sprinter. Give him a good train like in Turkey this year and he gets passed left and right by guys like Groves and Philipsen. The only thing I agree with is that he misses De Buyst, but what do you want Lotto to do? Clone him? Ewans Giro was horrible (probably caused by the crash in the first stage), but right now he and the team are just missing some luck, luck that Groenewegen for example did have.
Also more support for De Lie doesn't mean less support for Ewan. De Lie wants to race classic races in the first place anyways and won't do a GT this year and maybe not even next year. If he does one it will be the Vuelta. His heart is with the one day classics, he won't cross paths with Ewan immediately. Ewan is also still faster than De Lie.
