Actually hes extremely fast, just sucks at all other aspects of sprinting (getting to the front on time, getting over climbs and not crashing).

His sprint in T-A was really fast, but the other times I've seen him sprint this season it was reallly slooow :p Sometimes I thought he was going backwards!

A venge with a Pinarello sticker. That would reeeeally go unnoticed:D

As you pointed out, I would be very interested to know what is the nature of the business relationship beetween Cavendish and these companies. Although I must say I'm getting pretty bored with the drama. I'm close to go on "Wake me up when he announces" mode.

I'm with you-this Cavendish episode is getting ridiculous.
I thought Sky had a 3 year deal with Pinarello & cannot picture the team breaking up the contract just to "please" Cavendish-let alone his salary & the advertising deals he's getting aside..... If that's the case-I won't be surprised if next year we witness some massive departures from their riders due to the discomfort of the extreme/unnecessary attention put on Cav....

He also had an extreme sprint in Dauphine last year I think so I guess his max speed is very high, he's probably just often too exhausted to utilize it. Could be using too much energy positioning himself for example, he doesn't exactly get much of a train.

Yeah he spent the whole post interview after winning that Dauphine stage talking about how the team organised the sprint, and how grateful he was for it. Almost as if he had never really been given a leadout before.

And he won that stage in very convincing fashion.

Cav has received a larger offer from omega pharma and now his agent is renegotiating with sky for a better deal. Sky won't budge with there offer and now excuses like bikes and clothing are being used. Griepel uses a specialized frame when his team use canyon bikes, all the bike needs to show is sponsor advertising which can be done with stickers. For example in cricket many players use different makes to what the stickers show. Cav is most likely to join omega pharma now.

he does not ride a Specialized frame at all

According to the latest activities and infos from people who are close to the team, the new RadioShack-Nissan-Trek will ride in Craft!

so, one could imagine that just mercedes has been ditched by Becca, all the other deals (craft, bontrager helmets, shimano group, NORTHWAVE??) should continue?

maybe not northwave for the shoes, cancellara gerdemann were already using sidi this year. and the incoming Shack riders have their own shoes deals...

I see Levi is now really excited at the prospect of riding Specialized.

What a coincidence.

Lame bikes for old sportive guys - stop treating us like idiots Specialized PR guys.

While I don't doubt this news is PR spin, the SL3 posts impressive numbers in tour magazin.

Sounds like a case of Cavendish wanting a massive contract now that he's world champion. I can't help thinking that's quite hypocritical, as I doubt the 7 guys, who sacrificed themselves magnificently to hand him the victory on a plate, will get a bigger contract...

At one point I hope Sky realize that they don't really need Cavendish, not by any means necessary at least. At least not if Froome continues riding like a future TDF winner.

I thought it was ridiculous before but now I need a word that's more ludicrous than ridiculous.

..and he can't simply tape over a Specialised bike if he's getting a cheque every month to ride a Specialised bike. Same goes with Nike.

It's not hypocritical to be paid what you're worth. Besides the big issue is his image rights and being World Champion changes that considerably. If Sky are willing to pay 2.5m for his services and his image rights yet Cavendish and his agent think his image rights are worth 2.5m then he would effectively be riding for free.

It has diddly squat to do with bikes and shoes. Its about the value wasserman places on image rights of being world champion and potential british olympic champion @ british held olympics. On the list of advertising value of sportspeople Jessica Ennis is on there too.Thing is if Cav dosent sign for sky,it could well mean team GB have plan B and C @ the olympic RR rather than just plan A.

I don't blame him chasing money, especially after the HTC years. It's not about the bike, maybe the dollars to ride the right bike ;)

It's a business. It's a short career, and Sky aren't going to pay him more than he's worth to them. The issue with calling Sky's bluff is that really, is there another team that will pay more? Invoking OPQS is/was their best bet.

This is an epic fail for Sky and Cavendish. Seriously, this is quite comedic.

As long as Cav gets himself a team for next year its not a fail, as for Sky they wont have any problems because they have sprinting talent already.

Whats the problem?.
