With the book he has not made any friends. If there will be something coming out regarding team Sky, it will one of those people coming out. eg. Henderson. This book doesn't look like the last to me. The more he is going to diss people, the more chances that something is going to happen. To me, it looks like the situation is very very similar to LA.

The fact that Froome specifically picked out Contador's name, turned it into a mountain finish and failed to mention there were also 100 others guys who also beat Contador that day shows he's just making up stuff.

It's quite the epitaph that he's offered:
"I beat Alberto Contador, a Tour de France winner,"

To anyone with any connection whatsoever to the sport of cycling, "Alberto Contador" would suffice. Having to add the illustrious "a Tour de France winner," demonstrate clearly that the target audience is the gullible first-timer to this sport that Master Froome has dominion over.

I can just imagine:

"Look here, honey, it says that "Al-burr-toe...Con-tay-door" was a TOUR DE FRANCE WINNER. And Christiopher beat him all the way back in Two Thousand Eleven!"

"Well, he must be very talented then. It's no wonder he has accomplished such great things. Michelle must be very proud."

The difference for Froomie now is that the media aren't buying it anymore (see Bob Roll calling Froome out with the inhaler)

Wait...what?!?!

Friggin' Bob (T)Roll calling out anybody on anything is hilarious enough, but this?

Oh, now I see. From the Froome thread:

did anyone else just see NBC's coverage of todays stage? even Bob Roll was calling BS on the inhaler thing, it was awesome.

he said it's ridiculous that Team Sky, the "team of transparency" has never told anyone about Froome's asthma, and that Froome's brand new autobiography doesn't mention anything about asthma at all. he was surprisingly up in arms about it, i thought he only got like that about Ricco.

he also said he e-mailed the UCI asking for an explanation.

Coming from Bob Roll, that is PRICELESS!!! :D

[Edit]
I just realized that, on this issue, I'm only echoing Digger from, like, nearly 24 hours ago.
I step away for a bit and cycling hell freezes over.

I admire the sentiment, but no.

Bad choice of words. I meant the high-profile GC riders, such as Riis, Ullrich, Armstrong, Zülle, Basso, Mayo, Vinokourov, Rasmussen, Olano, Julich, Hamilton, Landis, Leipheimer, Virenque, Heras, Moreau, Mancebo and many more.

I'd say there's a larger chance that Froome will end up as an Armstrong than an Indurain, even if they're all equally sauced up. Froome is too much of a d-bag to get by on his niceness, like Indurain has all these years (even if everyone knows he was doing EPO like there was no tomorrow).

Peloton Magazine referred to him yesterday as the greatest living GT racer.

Yeez. They are keen to jump on the bandwagon dont they? But it works that way. They are so desperate to get a new posterboy that these fellas pretty much takes all that is throwned at them ("Gentlemen. Lets pretend as if "The Climb" never was written").

But these kinds of sentiments did help Armstrong a great deal.

:D I bet Chris and Michelle are reading this thread somewhere laughing their heads off; this book must be the longest internet trololol post ever written.

What the actual ****.

Did I miss something? Merckx is still alive right:rolleyes::rolleyes:

And in other news, somewhere in France Bernard Hinault is quietly plotting to push another imposter off the stage this year.

If they are reading this and no doubt they are, i guess it will be nervous laughter. So much of Froome's story has been torn apart in here, they must be praying that Walsh doesn't start reading this thread!

Hope they are putting the earnings into safe banking havens.........

I have to say this thread is brilliant. Thanks to the Hog for all the excerpts. Is the book worth reading purely as satire?

Entirely agree with you. Hog has been his usual witty self.

Doubt the book is worth buying. Hog, I am sure has given us all the best bits and if there are still good bits to come i am sure he wont be found wanting

The book is fairly technical so thankfully Walsh & Dawg add a handy cycling terms glossary at the back.

Who would have thought? A chainring was that round thing they pedal with?

who'd have guessed.
the sentence that starts with "The Five Monuments..." was 'inspired' by Wikipedia.
The Five Monuments of Cycling are generally considered to be the oldest and most-prestigious one-day events on the calendar
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classic_cycle_races

(it's the only one i checked. my guess is you'll find more copy and pasting in that list)

Why didn't they mention Hor cat climbs? Feared it would be beyond the intellectual grasp of the target readership?

It's a book written for the general public, not for hardcore cycling fans. Of course it's dumbed down. Can we go back to the stuff that really matters?
