If they are reading this and no doubt they are, i guess it will be nervous laughter. So much of Froome's story has been torn apart in here, they must be praying that Walsh doesn't start reading this thread!

Maybe, but it doesn't seem that they're overly concerned since so much of this book appears to be purely for the lulz. Walsh is obviously tamed.

Looking at career progression you'd imagine Froome joined the Sky/GB inner-circle programme in early 2012 and that's been running for over a decade now with nothing other than the one rogue >50%HCT problem coming out, so unless someone decides to do some retrotesting from his career-saving-dice-roll at Vuelta 2011 then they'll be pretty relaxed. Very likely the ventolin puff (and the clearly visible pill stuffed up Wiggins' shorts leg in the spring) were just to mock the sceptics.

Well Basso did win the White Jersey in 2002, but I can't remember him battling it out with Armstrong in that tour.

I thought Basso didn't dope, and just banked blood for a what-if scenario? He was not convicted of doping, ever, was he?

What's pharma about banking blood?

Basso never asked Lance about the sports drinks he was drinking. This is how we know Basso was doping at that time.

Dayam. This surely is a marginal gain from just looking someone in the eye and flat out asking them if they are doping.

Seriously. Who can read that section "Basso asked me what we are drinking for protein wtf ever" and not see the real question: WTF ARE YOU GUYS ON FFS TO TURN GROUPETTO RIDERS INTO MUTANTS.

Froome is either dumb for not "getting" Basso's meaning, or dumb for getting it and writing it in the book like it was a literal question.

"Eh Richie, where do I get some or that protein?"

Perhaps Richie missed the coded message? Not like protein power isn't available like everywhere!

And let's give Ricco one more kicking...

The book is fairly technical so thankfully Walsh & Dawg add a handy cycling terms glossary at the back.

Who would have thought? A chainring was that round thing they pedal with?

Well I'm very disappointed with these incomplete and generic definitions. This is Froome's book, is it not?

Aero Bars: Long, sticky-outy things on either side of your beloved power meter. You lean on these during TTs so you can get a close-up view of it.

Aero Helmet: guys with sand shoes can't afford these. Only rich European dopers had them.

Classics: one-day races that my team sucks at.

Commissaire: This is an old guy with a clipboard who stands in the road at the end of the start ramp. They frequently jump out in front of young riders and cause them to crash. Here's a helpful photograph:

Joking aside, I'd ridden a lot of miles on road, turbo and MTB before I knew exactly what the chainring was. Because they appear to last forever, there's no obvious need to refer to them explicitly at the bike shop, as you never need to ask for them to be fixed/replaced. It was just the big cog at the front as far as I was concerned. Obviously, I go a lot faster now I refer to it as a chainring!

That was joking "aside"?

What brand of chainring is it that "lasts forever"? With even a moderate amount of climbing, shark teeth will usually appear within a few thousand kilometers without routine chain replacement. Even then, you will have to...

Wait, you said "aside" right? OK, I should stop before it turns out that I'm missing a joke, or something.

Basso was never given the chance to "prove" he is clean by passing drug tests, which is what Froome demands more of so that he can "prove" he is clean.

Oh wait, he was.

Do we need to remind you of the time-honored anti-doping test procedure involving looking an athlete in the eyes and asking them if they are doping? It works better than the bio-passport.

Sky has clearly discovered some marginal gains refining that process.

Of course, that makes no sense.

An important question is why was Basso Froome's last hero?

Did he not believe any of the riders after? Even the ones who never failed a drugs tests or were implicated:confused:

What an unpleasant characterization of us doubters. Sir Walsh IQ 2000 who can't even bother checking up his own stories, painting all doubters as bumbling comic book idiots who don't understand cycling

Surely, he is talking about 2004.

What's a couple of years either way when you are getting the story from a True Champion? It will read well to the target market.

I can't wait to get it from the discount bin.

A familiar story. Who had the conversation with Armstrong after a rest day? Something like "What did you have for breakfast?" "Probably the same thing you did?"
