Wait, I thought Froome's 6.59 watts/kg came from his lowered handlebars and seatpost and the protein shakes he gave that dirty dirty Ivan Basso advice on because he needed it that poor little doper. You mean to tell me it's because of the money Sky has??

Seriously. Who can read that section "Basso asked me what we are drinking for protein wtf ever" and not see the real question: WTF ARE YOU GUYS ON FFS TO TURN GROUPETTO RIDERS INTO MUTANTS.

Froome is either dumb for not "getting" Basso's meaning, or dumb for getting it and writing it in the book like it was a literal question.

One of the best retort/joke in this forum was back in 2012 when the hog said to one guy talking about sky cleanliness ..like " i can't hear anything you say over my friend basso laughing at sky's pace" :p

If Irish Corner can get make up two huge banners I'll be well pleased.

The first, "How's the coffee, Alberto ?"

and

"My futures so bright I need my Oakley shades".

Or maybe I'll go myself to the Tour and create "The Greg Henderson Appreciation corner"?

so many good candidates.. but for me there can only be one winner. Maybe the funniest thing the Dawg has ever said.

Yep that is good as long as the next corner has;

This "7 GTs" focus sounds very similar to the statements sprinkled here and there along the lines of, "Brad was going to win the final TT and overall in 2012 anyway, so why not let me get some time back?".

Now, I understand being confident, but this is taking it to a ridiculous level, surely?

It aligns perfectly with McQuaid's slip of the tongue about attending the end of Tour Sky part- er winner's party.

W.T.F!?

It's not confusing if the UCI and ASO are assisting.

The last time I checked, ASO and the UCI are still doing a stage race in the same area as the 2014 grand departe. UCI puts it (a new race) in the schedule at an improbably high rank, probably demoting another high-ranking, long-running event. ASO produces the event. Both groups are making money off the TdF wins.

This is the kind of growth the UCI likes.

Just drop out a couple of spacers and gain 40 watts.

I am a man of constant marginal gains ;)

I had suffered freezing cold tootsies for years and it really held me back from my full potential as the worlds best rider as I trained relentlessly through the wild plains of Africa past herds of buffalo and zebras being savaged by tigers.

I said to David Brailsford why don't I cut the corners off Tesco shopping bag, and put them over my frozen numb toesies. He said that is probably just crazy enough to work let's through all caution to the wind and try it. I said wait shouldn't Tim Kerrison perform weeks of spectral analysis on our banks of Cray supercomputers?

David said trust me I was right about the super soft 10.5 tog down pillow making you the worlds best time trialist overnight. Put these cheap crappy secret prototype Tesco shopping bag toes covers in your shoes now and let's see what time you do up Mt Ventoux.

I was 9 seconds faster than Lance Armstrong.

I am a man of constant marginal gains.

Initially I found this humorous, it was so prosperous. Now it is starting to **** me off they aren't even trying very hard to mislead us.

So the most scientific and well resourced teams alters his tt position on the day of a tt in a grand tour. No wind tunnel testing, no velodrome power drag analysis. Nothing. I take more care when changing things on my tt bike and I am a weekend warrior. Grrr.

15 mm drop in the front with no discomfort and no drop in power, and of course no adaptation time, right before a major TT. Totally legit, I do this all the time as has every amateur and pro I've worked with.

Froome = Too legit to quit.

FFS!!!

Like to hear the opinion of a pro set-up specialist on this FroomeDawg tidbit. Steve Hogg would be a go-to man on this. He used to have a very valuable and informative column on this site pre-Future Publishing.

Well ... 15 mm in the front is a big drop and big changes are not usually something you want to even think about right before a stage, unless something is broken/not working. We also know that dropping the front is not necessarily going to make you faster and there are numerous factors that impact aero. That is why wind tunnel testing can be so useful - if it was all "how low can you go" then you would not need to use a wind tunnel. Add that there is an aero/power output balance, and it makes the whole experiment that Froome describes all the more risky.

A man of constant marginal gains. More like a man full of shit.

You're right. Also, this passage from 'Mein Kamf' or whatever it's called exposes the Dawg as a serial liar: crabs don't have flat backs.

He has pretty strong opinions on the pro peloton ;-) Have heard him in person, over lunch, discussing what he thinks is going on...

How much of the meltdown we witnessed is due to the crash, due to the TUE debacle or due to realising that the coffeedrinker is much stronger than he had ever believed?

Also, how big will the grin of Wiggins be today?

Basso article...yeah, from a former EPO doper...his take.

“Look. It’s the same discussion as always, it’s like watching the Tour when Lance [Armstrong] or [Miguel] Indurain raced. You could try to attack, get ahead, but then what are you going to do? Just to have a laugh?” Basso said, sitting on the steps of the team bus.

“If he [Wiggins] goes as they have been, where Richie Porte is pulling and you are on the wheel pushing 420 watts, then explain to me, where are you going to go?"

Sitting in the draft, on a climb, putting down 420w...that means Ports is putting 475w, even with the climbing and marginal draft while doing so likely...just a guess. Exactly.
